1. Uninstall the game completely.

Yes and not only for HoMM. To avoid problems, installing old games (released before 2008-2009) outside of 'Program Files' folder is recommended.

Hi, first of all thank you for the absolutely awesome mod and especially thank you for xBRZ filter, the best pixel filter ever.

I have some questions, is it possible to stretch the main menu/battle screen/town screen to full screen without borders? Like have main menu/battle screen/town screen use all of 1920x1080 resolution in my case?

I ask because I hate borders very much, no matter how good they look, and I don't care if there's graphical artifacts or something, for me main menu/battle screen/town screen would be so much better if they used all my screen.

When using xBRZ+whatever I get frame drops for some reason even tho my PC isn't bad at all, anyway to fix this? And is there a possibility of using just xBRZ without bilinear or bicubic at all if it will allow normal fps? Bilinear usually makes the image look very blurry, which is not good.

Also is it possible to play in borderless window?

Thirdly, I use the mod with GOG Heroes 3 Complete, why do I need to enable to no-cd option when GOG version is already no-cd?

Last question, why when I click a creature dwelling is it always set to buy 1 creature?

This option is for classic H3 on CD owners. It's logical that when you use no-cd version, you can skip this option.

You would think so but if I do not tick the No-CD option, I get an error in the main menu in gibberish font (which I assume would be in Russian Cyrillic if my PC had it installed), even if I installed the HD mod in english.

I cannot access anything but Multiplayer just like it would happen if I had no CD in the drive with a CD version installed.

It's not technically a problem, it's just weird that it happens, especially since if I just launch the normal heroes3.exe, this doesn't happen.

When launching the game through HoMM3 HD with No CD/DVD option disabled and without a game CD / img, there is an info in a weird language (see the pic) about missing CD. When launching the game through the orginal shortcut the info is in English (Complete Edition).

Yes that's exactly my case as well.

Like I said it's probably Russian but since your PC doesn't have Cyrillic fonts installed you'll see that mess. But again, this isn't really a big deal, more like an oversight from the HD mod devs.

This is not a problem, but instead how the mod is working. It's based on an old CD version SoD exe (I guess Russian, therefore the language). Because the mod should work for every possible H3 version (SoD, complete, different languages, CD/non-CD version, etc.), the mod uses a different modified exe to start the game. So no copyright issues at all, just the way it works.
At least that's how I understand it, I might be wrong.

Concerning auto select of 1 unit in recruit dialog, you can change that in the HD mod starter, it's on the page with lots of text, I suppose it's named something like UIBuyScreenAutoSelect or anything like that (haven't installed it right now).
There are two such settings, one enables automatically the maximum number recruitable (SelectMax or anything) and the other chooses the number of units selected if you DON'T use the first option to select the maximum. Just play around with those a bit and you will be able to configure it to your desire.

Lastly, just a thing about resolutions. If you want to stretch old screens to fullscreen you are going to have problems because modern screens are 16:9 (normally), so would still have borders (or a skewed picture)

Regarding the error message, I didn't think it was a problem really, it was just weird that it was happening, but now that I know it uses a different modified exe, that makes a lot more sense.

Thanks for the tips on the unit buy screen, very useful!

Regarding resolutions, I already mentioned, I don't have a problem whatsoever with a skewed picture, they will look stretched and maybe have some artifacts or weird graphics but it will be a lot better than borders or black bars.

I do this for every game I play, like the games with DOSBox or other emulators and it looks much better than borders or black bars and I believe if people gave it a try they'd start to like it too. Especially seeing battles in the entire screen will be glorios.

Four random ideas for discussion:

-- would it be possible to create a save format which would contain each and every finished turn (day) in one file, so that the player could go back easily to any previous turn at will?

-- some graphical info (feedback) about save files without the need for loading them. So that the player would know, for example, what was a starting town, hero, for a particular save file, or the current number of units, etc.  

-- what about some simple graphical macros for repetitive heroes' (and possibly not only) actions? "Record" and "repeat" on given days for a given hero and for a given time... Check out Earth 2150 (yeah it's real-time, but still...) for inspiration: Command Queue: You can set up any unit with a series of orders to follow without further input from you with the command queue in the lower right corner of the screen. Hit <r> to start recording, then issue all commands in the order you want them executed, then <r> again to close the list. To bexecute the queue hit <x>.  You can also use <capslock> to start the unit moving as soon as you start issuing commands instead of waiting for the <x> key. This is very useful for setting up a base with a construction unit or setting units to complicated patrol routes.

-- misclicks can happen to even the best of players, for instance, during battles, do you think that misclicks could be somehow mitigated in the HD mod?

Use Save all days option in launcher and additionally you can use this:
<UI.Ext.ScenarioMgr.Folders>

You're right! I think I have just read the "for tournaments" part and ignored this option... Still, maybe this kind of each turn/day saving could be merged into one file? Or maybe it's fine as it is...

Any comments regarding my other ideas?

No, enlarge battlefield graphic is not enough. Every hex has hardcoded coordinations normalized to 800x600 dimension. For example third hex in fourth row has, let's say, 80,120 pixel coordinate. Without source code would be extremely hard to re-scaling game mechanics. Look, in hd mod you can see bigger area of adventure map, more terraon tiles but Dimension Door jump still remain the same and still takes the same amount of tiles.

would be very nice, if you could fix the simultan turn problem "two players build ship in same round" (you already interrupt simultan turns, but a simultan solution would be great).

Not sure if this bug has already been reported, but when creating a random map, if you choose "Islands" the underground option magically switches to active, and clicking the button won't do anything.

Do you have a template with islands and no underground?

It seems to have nothing to do with templates. My friend has the same problem and it's not Hota related bug since I can create no underground + islands random map with just running Hota without HD mod.
