Depends.

Traction control will ease your life during winter or otherwise slippery times or under conditions where one or more wheels lose grip. If you have winter you'll like it but it's not necessary.

ECS depends solely how experienced and skilled you are with handling the car under extreme situations, say, dodging a deer. If you aren't experienced it will help you but if you're learned to control a car without one under such situations it might even hinder you because the car will respond differently.
It's a safety device, designed to help you keep the car not flying to the ditch. It might help you avoid some accidents. I'd say take it if it isn't a huge tradeoff.

Pros and Cons there.
Traction Control is part of ESC (or ESP) - if you have that, you have TC automatically.
It seems to depend a bit on the car you buy, whether is useful or not, but the more mass a car has, the more sense it makes, depending on the weather as well. You would want ESC with a Pick-Up or SUV in climate where it may snow and rains often, but in the Southern States of the US I'd see less use, especially with the US speed limit.
Still, since security consciousness is on the rise, having it would be good for the resell price, should you decide to sell your car.

If you can get it halfway cheaply it wouldn't be wrong. If not, it depends on the climate.

In theory it can be a good thing. However in practice I think the technology is not there yet. That may depend on the company though. The one that Mazda did is really bad and I would strongly recommend against it. The implementation was very poor and there have already been recalls on their version that started with (I think) the 2009 models. The ONLY thing that makes that car drivable under certain conditions is that you can turn it off. If it could not be turned off you would literally be stuck and not able to move.

When driving in snow you need to use momentum to your advantage. When you have momentum going the direction that you want, you do not want the wheels to be locked by some electronic system. It will stop the car or try to send it in a direction that you don't want, and you will lose all your momentum.

I think an experienced driver is much better able to decide when and how to drive the car. I just don't think that engineers sitting in their office can possibly anticipate all the millions of possible situations the way a human driver could. It might be able to react faster, but it's highly questionable if the reaction is the correct one.

ABS is a good thing and I can't think of any situation when it would be bad. For the most part, traction control isn't too bad depending on how it's implemented and whether it can be turned off. However from the early days of "posi-traction" and limited slip rear ends, there have been times when it made things worse not better.

ESC is the one I'm highly skeptical about. You're much better off with the SD system. SD = Slow Down. People tend to drive way too fast in snow and especially on ice. ESC is for them, and SD is for everyone else who have enough sense to slow down.

BTW, I've done some design work on some automatic electronic controls. That was 25 years ago. I was skeptical of it then and I'm still skeptical of it. I've also worked with engineers who have done design work on other aspects of automated controls. They are skeptical also. Fortunately most of the advanced stuff hasn't been implemented yet.

It is significantly more expensive and bundled in with other things like bigger tires and comfort additions.

Not sure where you get the idea that cars are so cheap Joonas?  Or did you just mean there are a lot of choices?

Edit: Good posts all three, basically it comes down to me making a judgment call.  I will say I've been driving fine without such features, and the only thing I had to dodge so far was a wild turkey.  Close call.

I read that cars made for the model year 2012 are required to have ESC.  I think they figured out you need to be able to shut off TC.

I would like to repost Binabik's question

Quote:

BTW: When it comes to "mileage" on a car, how would you say that in metric countries? I've wondered about that for years.

because I didn't see an answer.

Another thing that I heard about from a friend that I hadn't considered is the inability to get parts for your vehicle, she was talking about Subaru.  They look like great spacious cars and have AWD (all-wheel drive) which supposedly is the best kind?  But when it broke down it would take a long time to get the parts.  Would that be a problem with Korean or Japanese cars in America?

In Germany you say "Kilometerstand" which equals mileage. Or simply what would mean: "Run:"

I want to buy a car. I am considering a lot of options, but I can not make up my mind. Maybe you can share the information about your cars?  Who bought it where?

A true rebel - the new BMW X6 exudes provocative self-affirmation. Above all, this can be seen in the extremely sporty bodywork of the vehicle, together with a new, distinctive design language that manifests itself in the highest exclusivity and forward-thinking technology. BMW x6 price and many other characteristics I looked at the site. Come and check out this power.

The numbers are under the body. I am checking with Epicvin. For me, this is the best service because it shows truthful information. The flooded car vin check is especially necessary. Because very often they do not pay attention to it.

To ensure the authenticity of the vin code, use the free vin check with the Vininspect service, and then you will not only be convinced of the authenticity of your wines, but also be able to find out the history of your bike.
