Buying one of them however won't result in a static creature pool which won't increase in size any more but it's far more likely each dwelling from the respective tier (Core, Elite) to increase the pool size by X. That's pretty stupid in my opinion as it appears that you buy some monastery dwelling for Sisters and as a result you can recruit more... Sentinels (provided that their building is already constructed of course).
That takes away half the usefulness of the previous games' Fort/Citadel/Castle... Hmm, supposing there isn't any of that either? Heh...
Can you explain me why a fort should increase growth in the first place ? It was one of the dumbest concept ever, but HEY it was here since Heroes 3, so it had to be GOOD ! Amirite ? The fact that growth gets actually affected by dwellings is logical.
Forts/Citadel/Castle should be about defenses. Stronger walls, stronger towers, additional towers and defensive moats ... oh wait ... that's what they're gonna do in H6 !

Say what? We have already seen how the game will look like. And if anything is about to change in that matter, it WON'T be a change for worse. Game looks top-notch for a TBS, a heaven better than H5 looks like, so I totally don't understand that point of yours...

I wouldn't care but I bet they will see that as an excuse to get rid of these buildings too.

So far so good, that's until they will throw in their 2D Town Windows, making it look like a browser or flash game.

I have never seen that picture before. Is that it? Man, this tiny window is not just bad, it's beyond horrible... I don't see this screen working as an interactive one either... All these locked buttons hint to that, as well...

Yes, this is it! Months ago, I thought the window thing was a placeholder, or just something you can recall by pressing the right mouse button on the town, for example.
It turns out that it will be the actual town screen. The placeholder was just the image, which will just be better than that.
Unbelievable, right? A browser-game indeed... no, wait! Heroes Kingdoms has its own town screens ahah!

Except that it wasn't confirmed. What Marzhin said was ambiguous at best and a 6 months old info is not exactly up to date. Now the same info appears in some magazine and Cepheus confirms it. Of course there will be "riots"! I have almost no doubts that the person who is taking the decisions what should and what should not be in the game has no experience with Heroes games and the Heroes community, except maybe Heroes V. I hate to think that the series are in the hands of incompetent corporate bureaucrats who have next to no idea why the people like these games, but there are quite too many signs already. This moronic attitude ruined Command & Conquer, led to the disappearance of Black Isle Studios years ago and is not alien to the 3DO (and NWC) bankruptcy either. Yes, it's worrisome.

Maybe I communicated it badly or something, but there are going to be animations in the town, exactly like H1-4, not just some non-immersive panel of buttons.
Additionally this shouldn't even be news, because it was the very first thing Marzhin said about the game, way back, and it's been the same way in every single screenshot or video since.
Speed was the weakest reason, and I know there are others, so please don't overreact... oh, damn, too late
Well anyway, it's unequivocally clear to me that this is a big deal and you just really don't want them in a small-ish window. I don't know whether it will be possible and I'm promising absolutely nothing, but I'll see whether or not it will be possible to go fullscreen with them or at least add a "widen" button. They're still undergoing work, which is why I said "as far as I can predict".
Just to illustrate, it operates just like the HD mod for Heroes III, only I'm pretty sure it rescales based on your resolution (so we might be able to mod it into being fullscreen anyway):

Cepheus, I'm willing to be very happy with having 2D Town Screens, even though I've been known before to be saying that I preffer 3D better. Just as long as they are that, Town SCREENS. Full Screen, interactive, and well, with as many buildings as can there possibly be.
Please, comment on the pic that Danny posted. Are they still like that? Why, these "things" can't even be called Town Screens.
I know they are reading the forums but be sure to pass it along too: We reject their Town Windows.

I really don't care much about town windows. I never listened to a complete music on the towns, since we don't spend much time there.
But I have to say that if the Town Windows look like the one in the demo, I won't like them. Not because it's beautiful or not, but it looks less user friendly than H5 towns.

I only get info from Heroes Community, and in the News thread it's clearly stated:
"Highlights are that city screen is still in the game (in 2D)"
+
"2D animated town screens WILL be in the game"
Those informations are wrong, or lacking at best!
As we already discussed, there's a big difference in getting town WINDOWS instead of screens, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who misunderstood this thing.
Of course there are other things in the game, but visiting towns and buildings was never an irrilevant or forgettable part of Heroes experience.

Why the riot?
Why do you gather resources on adventure map? To build you city. To hire creatures from it. To see it grow under your rule. Your town is so much more then small animation in a window. At least it is for me.
There were some passionate arguments should there be 3D or 2D town screens, now we are getting that unfinished, cheap, flashlike media window...
How can we stay calm when important part of the game was raped in such way. I wander how that brilliant "no town screens" meeting went in UbiHole. With what twisted logic they come to solution that town windows are good idea?

Well I do understand your "fear" after all the decline of C&C is one of the most tragic things in the history of gaming.
I just don't see how this can make you lose faith in H6, when I at least see "almost" everything else in H6's development as a great improvement...
But yeah I know you are skeptical about other things as well, but we will have too see I guess.

Thank you very much, this would be greatly appreciated!
I'm also speaking for my italian community (we are a small group, but we play since the first chapters!)... we discussed about 2D or 3D town screens, but no one will like this cheap windowed mode.
I hope we won't need a petition to get at least 2D town screens back... and sorry for the hype!

To me, four features make the Heroes games legendary:
1. Creatures
2. Heroes
3. Adventure Map
4. Town Screens
These four features are equally famous, and mess with one of them, ofcourse you're going to have riots.

I would add:
5. Turns
Which is not irrilevant, since they are trying to make the game too fast for Heroes standards!
Think about the single-player experience first please... THEN we'll see how to play multi.

Well that was a very preliminary screen and wasn't complete. We're also giving the developers hell about the whole UI in general, so it's still in fluctuation. If it isn't feasible that we get them changed officially, I will personally help to unofficially mod them to fullscreen size. I know that's probably not good enough for you guys, but other, important things are being prioritised at the moment.

Do keep pressing them! We got your back!
I don't wanna have to rely in mods to change something I don't like about the game. It can't be very difficult to make them be full screen now, can it? Though I guess that would not be enough. If it's 2D, it must be interactive, or else there's no point to it.
Good thing though that this picture's abomination wasn't complete.

Anything that can separate the actual town from the adventure map is happily welcomed, at least from my side.

I haven't lost faith yet but I'm concerned indeed. Even the thought that the scrapping of the town screens won't have a serious impact is amazingly daft, they should not even consider it - yet at one point this was almost set in stone and only revised because, I suppose, someone kicked some sense in the respective people's heads. The reduction of the resources will remain controversial topic no matter how well they new system is implemented - it will be difficult to convince me for instance that they couldn't improve the existing one instead of "simplifying" it. The gradual decrease of the number of the factions and creatures says that they prefer to save time and resources for development and suck additional revenues via expansions (and I find it astonishing that this idea even has supporters among the fans... I guess the word is manipulation). The "acceleration" of the gameplay in general speaks about some idiotic misunderstanding of the game concept and is directed towards the regular MMO/RTS-loving kiddie who doesn't have the patience to play a true TBS what Heroes I - V were. This reasoning however fails badly when you take the old fanbase into account as nobody who plays Heroes for more than a few years does it because it's quick and easy. No sir, nobody! So they'd better polish the new features that are supposed to replace all that is lost to perfection, otherwise the game is as good as dead. For me at least.

@Zenofex
I agree that these changes are bad(or at least seems bad), but I believe the developers when they say that they have limited resources. So the question is do they use their resources in a good way?
I think they for the most part do, and I'm glad that they prioritize other things then town-screens even if I agree that it shouldn't even be considered to be removed from the beginning.
It's kinda funny, the reason I'm so positive about this game is because I an half a year ago imagine that this game was going to be crap. I believed this because of similar thoughts that you have now, that most games nowadays just reject their history and legacy and just want to simplify things...
