Do you have your membership-card & hat yet? Cause if you don't, you ain't part of the club.
For me, it was part of my membership of the SUW-club(Shut-Up-Whiners-Club). Man, last weeks meeting was awesome. Can't give away to much to the non-members, but we learned the new secret handshake. And the part with the skydiving Narwhal was Legen-, wait for it......Dary!

All jokes aside though, while the adventures in Budapest was a good read, I'm not sure when this took place. Cause I get the feelin' that they played the Alpha or worse. So of the impressions seem off to the promises made to us.

About 27th-28th of January (2011), they played the same version we saw in the Gamestar.de video

That's good to know. Because that would mean they, indeed, play a (pre-)alpha version of the game and we can expect a quite a few changes to, at least interface.

I knew Seraphs would look awesome in-game. Just hope these pictures doesn't show the maximum graphical quality of the game.
This almost compensates for yesterday's "news".

The last picture - with the Stronghold creatures surrounding the Inferno town - is quite good. And of course I couldn't help but notice the similarities with certain things from Disciples III (again...) and Legacy of Kain - Defiance. Still looks good though and keeps Inferno way ahead the rest of the factions for me.

So is it certain that you can spend one skills point for one spell only?

I don't think so....rather that you get:

Skill points increasing hero level (eg. level 1, 2 & 3 in a magic school)
Ability points can choose spells, warcries, etc. (each spell/warcry requires different ability points)

Remember that screenshot with Duke Slava at Level 6...he already had 3 earth spells ticked and numerous other skills too....

If there are 14 spells per magic school, seems silly to only get to 20 - 25 skill points to allocate to this.

What about if you wanna go for more than one magic school?

It doesn't quite work as go for x magic schools as you can pick your spells freely. There are of course certain school boosters but that's another story. And yes, 1 skill/ability point per level. Perhaps it was confusing because Slava in the screenshot had not spent them in previous levels.

So I guess one won't have a "full" spell book anymore, you'll have a handful of spells only.

And if you have two magic schools, you won't have any "space" for might/warcries/logistics etc....

I assume it basically means that we are more free to specialize in what we want, right?
In H5 for example, you chose your schools, and then you where more or less forced to commit to them.
But now instead it's up to you how much you want to specialize.

To make it more clear, if let say you only are interested in resurrection but not any of the other light spells, then you are free to choose only resurrection.

Hm, OK then, is there an option to learn, say, two (X in general where X is not 1) spells at once? Like some batch or something. Or as part of some other skill development, like for example the case with Power of Speed which provided free Haste?

So I imagine that there will be various skills that will enhance certain schools as a whole, or just a group of spells.
(ie. Fallen Knight, Twilight...)

In other words it will still be more profitable to specialize...

(note: these are just my assumptions.)

You should really read up what Lepastur posted instead of assuming wrong things. Lepastur wrote that at the beginning of the scenario, Slava was already level 4-5 and that he already had several skills by default like Stand your Ground, Flawless Assault and Heroism and HE (Lepastur) picked Slow, Fireball, Celestial Armor and Regeneration with the points he earnt.

When I first played H5 I was seriously annoyed by how you could only pick 5 skills. I knew there were abilities, racial and its perks but I just didn't like it. Not much later I already loved the new system.

Now something similar seems to be happening with the alleged low number of spells for H6. Remember that the skill structure is not the same. That the skill reset at lvl 20 will do away with undesired earlygame ones allowing you to focus on building a full-combat hero if you so desire. That certain spells that were useful in earlygame may be replaced with other more important ones.

Also how many spells did you actually cast in an H5 final battle with say a demonlord? 2-4 mass spells? Plus 2-4 single others maybe. With a warlock? Maybe a few more single ones and rarely any mass. It's all an illusion of choice. Sure you *can* cast that stone spikes, vulnerability or wasp swarm but it's not gonna change anything, they will suck. The only ones that were actually useful without mastery were raise dead(only if it meant survival), arcane crystal for its blocking properties, haste/slow for countering purposes, regeneration, cleansing(hey at least it gave you a chance) and maybe icebolt? Out of which you would only have a handful each time and they would be perfectly situational.

I am not saying this is going to be the perfect system and we'll have a huge load of spells but I'm thinking you are reading too much into it without actually knowing where things stand.

Edit:

Did I even mention magic scrolls?

Do not forget mines. Atleast I found them often very useful.

I don't know if this has been confirmed before, but the Chinese articles in the news thread seems to confirm that the goofy animations from April Fools' Day are in the game. The crossbowman does his pogo stick thing and the sentinel apparently dances.

edit: Actually in the artwork thread.
