I'm afraid it's 99% certain there won't be a new faction, but who knows, there could be a bit of extra content.

I agree with Cepheus unless they've already pre-developed additional factions as add-ons, but from scratch its a no-go.

My few thoughts about this whole situation:

I really don't think that it is good news since game was planned for March then they set official release date for June. Why would I expect to get unpolished product for June. Of course if they need to polish this game I'm fine with it but again it means that Ubisoft was rushing them to release not fully finished product. They also failed so many times with other dates like faction reveal as well as communication with whole community.
I also hate the whole thing with collection edition(it is unavailable in some countries as far as I know) and I think it is unfair when they give some additional in-game content for people who have preordered and then even more for those who have bought collector's edition. Not to mention that it looks like they have baited people for beta and June release and then postpone + still no info about beta(again rumours were that it will be today)...
They have planned to release this game in June and started preorders 1 month ago and we still don't have any info aobut multiplayer except that simultaneous turns are gone. Weird given the fact that so many changes were made to improve multiplayer.

I really hope that at least they will start beta SOON and they will run it for at least 3 months so at least they can really polish and balance this game before the release.

On the positive side we could have ended up with mr Kotick + Activision and I still prefer Ubisoft to them

I don't get how you can keep so quiet and calm about this huge delay! You got all my envy and admiration.

That said, I'm furious about this lack of seriousness by developers!

Less than one month ago (when preorders started!!!) they officially announced the detailed release dates... and now, all of a sudden, they need 3 more months to polish the game???
Am I the only one who sees something unclear or even dishonest here? Especially to people, like me, who made plans with the official release date and immediately preordered the game!

I understood the initial delays: March 2011 or even Spring 2011 weren't serious dates, but when there is an official announcement you have the right to get the game that day, especially if the announcement "accidentally" coincides with the start of preorders!
I'm sorry but I don't believe this "game quality" crap excuse and I see a clever marketing move instead. They knew the game wouldn't be ready for June even 20 days ago(!), but they made all the fuss with preorders, collectors and such anyway, in clear bad faith!

Of course, the delay will mean less bugs, extra contents and, at this point, glorious town screens; but please let's not confuse the consequence with the reason!
Once again, gamers are treated like idiots; can we have at least a SERIOUS AND CLEAR REASON for this other-3-months-delay?

Final joke: today, according to the original plan, we should have started the beta... instead we get the game delay!!! Seriously, the guy in charge of the news should be fired!

[Sorry for the rant ]

What I don't get is why we can't have the beta yet.

It doesnt matter if the beta is buggy as hell, thats what betas are supposed to be like.

So you think we should keep ranting and raving without any constructive basis to do so? You think the developers aren't serious? Have you never heard of the SaveHeroes campaign, in which fans had to petition and beg the publisher for a couple of extra months to get something anywhere close to playable? This situation is a significant improvement on H5 because it required no campaigns or treatises or boycotts. The only fuss and discord being generated is coming from disgruntled fans who don't (seem to) realise how game development typically works these days.

I will tell you why the delay is justified - it's quite simple. The game would not have been playable to a satisfactory standard if released in June, let alone truly worthy of the Heroes series. We want at all costs to avoid a Disciples III or Elemental: War of Magic situation - we want success. A couple of months of waiting is a small ask in exchange for years' worth of potential entertainment.

Games cost money to develop, so it is difficult to get publishers and developers to agree on a reasonable release date, and sometimes it takes time for both parties to come to an agreement on what is right. To the developers this means quality and artistic integrity, to publishers it means maximising profits. The majority of big-budget games are postponed or set back a little (or a lot) for such reasons. Dragon Age II is one of the few recent exceptions I can think of, and look how beautifully that mess turned out.

I tried to indicate several times that the release dates either would or should be skipped if the publisher was serious about giving you a project worthy of the Heroes name. I know you want the game ASAP, but believe me, SkySlam, the developers could not be more serious - the fact that we have this merciful delay is proof

Having spent part of my (few) money preordering, I do feel a bit cheated anyway. I don't know how game developing goes these days, but if Heroes VI is a good example, things must be really messed up.
Still, I see some kind of dishonesty in announcing unlikely official dates and starting preorders.

I am usually against the typical attitude of most gamers to just beat game designers over and over, and I'd normally second such a reply and defend it strongly. In fact, I defended pretty much every change they're planning to introduce with H6 and wasn't even pessimistic about town windows at all.

This time I am honestly shocked from this new delay and by your reply explaining such delay. Ok, I definitely lost the chance to buy the game for my girlfriend in time for her birthday, it's not going to be the end of the world.

But defining it a "merciful delay" it's just taking it way too far. It's a reasoning that just doesn't hold together for the simple fact that you could potentially postpone the game an infinite number of times and always repeat this very same reasoning, basically telling us that we should be grateful that the dev's are not going to keep up with the date the dev's themselves chose to announce. You can ask us to be patient, but you can't ask us to show gratitude because the game release gets skipped an undefinible number of times.

In fact, I should ask you, what exactly should guarantee us that Sept. 8th will truly be the game release date? What should make us believe the dev's this time? What could prevent you to say exactly what you're saying today, then the game's postponed to november 10th?

The reason I'm asking for extra understanding (or at least less fury) about this delay is because it confirms to me that Heroes VI has no excuse not to be a success. I couldn't have guaranteed something like that if June stayed the way it was. You know Elvin and I are fans without being fanboys, and that we have disagreed with several decisions Ubihole made, but to me this is indisputably a very sensible one, and for that reason I think it's the only one I am passionately (maybe over-passionately, sorry ) contesting complaints about.

When I saw games like Disciples III and Elemental: War of Magic failing to deliver on their promises, I began to worry whether or not Heroes VI could replicate their collapse and kill TBS games for good if released too soon. I was sure extra time would be unrealistic or that it might even have required another Save Heroes petition.

H6 is the first non-Firaxis TBS in a long while which hasn't been underestimated by its publisher or forced out the door due to bureaucracy, which is why I laud the decision and describe it as a mercy. Sorry if I get overempathic about the situation or happen to say something controversial or shocking about the delay in defending it. If I get sharp or rude it's just because I'm frustrated that I can't use my privileged information to explicitly detail why it's the right choice - but it is.

Anyway I'll leave my contribution to the discussion of the matter with that. I am pretty certain that they won't delay it again though.

If you saw the gamestar video you should have noticed that a tactics phase was missing. And I'm fine with that, you are not playing H5 anymore. You won't be charging the opponent with 3 offensive stacks on the very first action.

you mean the ability to place your stacks where you want at the beginning of the battle? that would be a bad move imo, and for once, I think you are wrong, it has nothing to do with being able to charge the opponent with all your army in the 1st turn. the only thing that makes it possible is the high speed of some creatures.

actually, it was my usual strategy in H2 and H3, charging the enemy and killing him before he could act. just had to check his hero from the adventure map, and you knew exactly where his troops were going to be, and how you needed to place yours to cause a maximum of damage quickly. in H5, it's not possible anymore, since at the beginning of the fight, your opponent may place his stacks anywhere. you can guess where they will be, but you can't be sure.

Well of course one gets sad about the delay but I can't get angry because this delay will only serve our good at the end.

Now I'm playing Portal 2, near the end of it, and there is not even one tiny bug, let alone bugs, every thing is considered in such detail that it amazes me while playing. It is, as a product, perfect, so far. Telling this because they have worked on the game for 4 years. Also most probably Diablo 3 will also be bugless due to this huge time they took creating it. Same goes for HL2:E3.

So, let's hope, Heroes 6 will also be a perfect product.

*I'm saying "product" because the gaming aspect is different for me from the production aspect.

Frankly, I don't know what's worse, the news I;ve just read or the fact you're giving those lame excuses as worthy of anything

- You talk about save heroes campaign that asked for additional time when at least 99% of the fans still have no actual idea about the game nor about what it looks like now. Had the beta been released, had the fans received a chance to see the bugs we would all ask for additional time, that is not the case though so please JUST DON'T.

- You talk about inner wars between publishers and developers, however how is that relevant to us gamers ?? Do I care about their inner wars ? Far as I'm concerned they can all shoot themselves, I never had a gun pointed at neither a publisher nor a developer and told them "give me the release date today or die" !!!! They chose the dates, they gave it to us and they took our money promising the game on a specific date, they failed to deliver.... You can call it whichever way you want but it wont change the simple fact - WE WERE CHEATED !!!! How do you think they would feel if they had supplied us with the game and we paid them in a merciful delay ??

- You say they are serious, I find your statement to be laughable at best, they lie about release dates, they take our money but fail to deliver, their marketing skills are plain horrible, they dont show us news, they dont let us have the beta (which would be the most serious decision had they really wanted to show seriousness on improving the game), they are showing us nothing but disrespectfulness and disloyalty, I feel offended, outraged and cheated so you can talk empty excuses all you want but the facts are clear.... Ubisoft + Black hole =
