within sanctuary i've seen geishas and samurais so to me it looked like japan
orcs have that aztec vibe plus all that talk about jaguars and panthers
necro had sphinx and pyramids not steppin on any babel toes but it looked egyptian to me....
i was just askin, i had no idea it represents also thailand china, pacific, babel and mesopotamia
regarding humans i was askin whether ppl see a specific influence coz medieval had many different influences from gothic in spain to celtic up north or pravoslavic in balkans or even ottomanic...
basically ur saying it has no specific influence but a generic one, even though it was a long journey to reach that answer thanks to all who answered,
peace....

edit : just seen the full answer now, thanks elvin

About the third naga type, maybe its Yume (that bonus heroine) type? That is, the standard naga (human torso and snake from the waist down), as the others are medusa-like and the deep naga.

edit: oh, only now I've seen nelgirith suggested it. But anyway, I agree with him, as I don't think Yume is from a "coral maiden" race.

@Protolisk
I think the maenads theme refers more to their morality than visual style

Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication. In this state, they would lose all self-control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear to pieces animals - and, in myth at least, sometimes men and children - devouring the raw flesh.

That would mean that the only easily distinguishable visual difference between Yume human-naga and corral maiden medusa-like naga is the hair and face which is pretty lame if you ask me. As lame as the Water Elemental and River Spirit issue. So I do hope that is not the case. If the Sanctuary heroes really are the third Naga species then I do hope they add more distinguishable feature for them, well for the female anyway.

lol no, I know the answer to the Naga speices question

1. Deep Naga. These look lizardy. Live deep within the Jade Ocean.

2. Humanoid Naga. Looks like a human with a naga bottom. Live on land, in the jungle.

3. Confirmed: BLUE-Skinned Naga. There are some heroes like this. Speculation: They are related to the cold, snowy aspect of Shalassa.

Well there's only so much differences you can create between snake-tailed humanoids. The Coral Maiden might just be the "transition" between the regular-human-face and the reptile-face with the snake-hair.

Also, it does seem the whole jungle terrain is a compromise for the faction, since the Kenshi live underwater, and there's the maiden from the snow...

Elvin, the Kirin description says it's a water spirit (combination of different aspects of water). What does it mean for game-play? Is it a living creature or an elemental?

Also, if you're allowed to answer, Akasha (hero from CE) seems to be dressed similar to Necro heroes and has that toxic green vibe. What's up with that? (Sorry if this has already been addressed).

Well, did everybody forget about that Paul Romero video where we actually saw a Naga slithering across the adventure map with a blue, humanoidish face MONTHS AGO?

That's probably the third speices, because that one looks nothing like the Deep Naga and Fake Medusa Naga.

I believe in one of the articles that appeared recently(can't remember which one), it said that Akasha is a very faithfull disciple of Asha. Like the Necromancers, Akasha worships the Dragon of Order faithfully and is one of her greatest living champions. Or something like that. So he's this generations Arantir, though I may just be going on a limb here.

If it is so hard then just go on with 2 species.

Interesting to see the Kirin linked to water in all aspects which include rain, hail, clouds, fog, mist, etc.....wondering if these aspects are to appear in the magic school of water...

Also, a Kirin in battle benefits the whole army with it's spiritual heavenly aura. Probably adds defense & honour....
