I love how if you go to the actual official site and click the Reputation tab, it still says "Coming Soon" even though those links posted in the news thread work.
How much you want to bet Ubi kills those links since they didn't plan on the info being out? Why put out new info when you can rehash pics everyone has seen already.

I'm torn about the town screen. Honestly I like the picture, but I hate how it is framed. This is going to sound bizzare, but I would much prefer that they had icons floating in the picture ala heroes 5 than the way they have it now. It feels more immersive that way. Now it just looks like a crappy town screen from disciples 2. (While a great game, the interior town design with the exception of the elves, imo looked like crap. Especially with the huge UI boxes around it.

Quote: 2. The Inferno town is the ugliest in the series. Sorry, but it might even be worse than Infernopolis if it isn't completly unfinished. The whole town just looks like a big organic mess.
Are you kidding me?
lets ignore that there is only a town window. But seriosuly the H6 Inferno town is awesome. Many, many times better then the dreaded abomination that was the H5 Inferno.
I'm very happy with the inferno town.

Alder comes through in the clutch! Great job in getting us some info dude.
I have to say, even though I would still prefer an actual interactive town screen like we've had in the past, this one looks better than the previous two we've seen. Plus, them saying it's still a work in progress is encouraging.

Nope, not at all. How does that look like a town in any way? I do not see the shape of a single real building. All I see is one big cthuluish mess.
I do love the Necropolis town window though and I am sure that it would be the best Necro town screen ever if it had actually been a real town screen. I kind of like the ideas of Pyramid times, since I used the idea of having a giant 3D Pyramid as the town in 2 of my H5 faction ideas.

I hope y'all are ready for some dedicated "fan art"
that contribute absolutely nothing to the discussion
I guess the inferno town itself looks okay-ish.
I don't like the necro town because the pyramid and the color scheme reminds me too much of the decidedly cooler Necrons.
I don't think the H5 inferno was particularly bad either.
To me, H4 has alwasy been the black sheep.
But I do agree that town windows suck.

Finally some news.. and a nice pack of it aswell
First the Heroes
I would like to point out sme things
First: I am on of those who would rather see factional heroes whit non human models but the Sanctuarry Blood hero and all the necro females have a A+ from me.
Second: The FaQ.
Bios coming up love them need them cant wait
Nice to here that thay look at what we like to say. But it would be even nicer to see the results.
I have big hopes in the AI...
And finaly the townscreen
It looks really nice. hope that it will manage to keep the atmosphere on a sufficient level

I love H5 Necropolis, but I agree with y'all that Inferno is the worst-looking town type in the franchise. It's always completely red/orange/black and it looks like one big indistinguishable mess.
About H4, it's funny, when I played it I liked the town screens but looking back now and comparing it to the other HOMMs I have to say it's pretty bad. The buildings look very cluttered and disconnected. Even this blurry mess of red is (slightly) better.

On thing I noticed about the Inferno Magic hero (all of them)
they have Pentagram symbols on thair bodys.
Why? The pentagram is such an overused symbol. Why did they not kept the Hexagram from Heroes V
It would even make sence.. 6 points... 6 overlords of Hell

Well the pentagram is traditionally a symbol associated with perfection and mysticism.
It was the mark of Aphrodite/Venus as her respective "star"(planet) drew a five pointed star across the night sky in it's cycle.
Yes it is commonly used but it does bring the messege across, though admittedly, the six pointed one does fit the faction as a whole better.
Judging by the Inferno faction description and the Warlock class and it's upgrades, they really are pretty serious with giving Inferno the biggest guns when it comes to destructive magic.
To be honest, I think it's more at home in Inferno then Dungeon, Dungeon would be better off with magics that focus on subtelty, manipulation of shadows, teleportation, curses.
I'd see Inferno's weapon of choice as an axe.
I'd see Dungeon's weapon of choice as a dagger.
If you get where I'm going with this.

That reminds me
I think it looks good all in all. If it gets full screen, includes distinctive interactive dwelling buildings and the traditional sound when you build then I might even be satisfied.
@Avirosb
That was fun but you went overboard. Then again this was probably intended, you are just reflecting what you see.

Kinda, but who's to say that a warlock can't be subtle?
It makes sense to have warlocks in Inferno,
since they in historic Christian traditions are the male equivalent of witches.
But at the same time, it kinda breaks with HoMM tradition, you know?
They were pals with the overlords and everything
But yeah, change and all that...

My apologies. I just think the hero class write-ups are hilariously written.

That last sentence of Elvin summarizes exactly my sentiment.
I made a long post in the town screen petition thread, so I am only repeating here the gist:
There is not much that can be said about that abomination of a town window that has not been said already.
Main problems: Fixed size(!), too small of an image in general, an unimpressive backstage for Romero's town themes, appears too static, and ABOVE ALL a poor representation of the city the player spends game weeks/months to build.
It is a disgrace to the Heroes name & legacy. And it will be even more of a disgrace as soon as that fixed size square window pops up on my 1920x1200 flatscreen. ´
Bottom line: No preordering for me unless they make a CLEAR statement that they intend to do sth for this mess. Otherwise I will have to test the game first in September and judge then.

Please, try to keep town window responses to the town screen thread so our impressions can be directed to those who might do something about it. Cepheus said:

And now for something completely different:
The most informative news we've got today is actually about the reputation and the advanced abilities. I really appreciated them explaining what the abilities do. Reading them made me think about the major balancing issues, both within and between the factions.
For instance will Confessors' abilities generally be more powerful than the Inquisitor's, and therefore always be the preferred choice? (think Arcane Archers). I doubt that will be the case. Still, balancing will be a tough job. I'm actually glad there are only five factions.
I also noticed that some abilities are activated while others are not. And some interesting changes to both gating and necromancy. This looks really promising!

Well, it looks like I will use the Embalmer a lot due to his/her advanced ability that increase Necromancy.
The other Necro advance class are also very interesting. Death Knight's ultimate ability in particular really emphasizes that Time is Death's ally.
Can't wait to see Heroes' specialization. I think we can make a lot of diverse build/combo this time.
