It's more like "This is our game now, we need to separate it from the product of NWC/3DO". For the people who play it will always be named "Heroes" anyway.

I don't think renaming made much of a difference. For those who knew the old games, the new game will still be "Heroes" ... for newcomers, it doesn't matter.

I just think they wanted to emphasize the "Might & Magic" which is common to all the titles of the franchise and its spin off's. It's pretty clever, it makes the names more catchy and noticeable.

If for example you, a newb, see the game "Heroes of Might and Magic" on a shelf and then a couple months later you will see the "Crusaders of Might and Magic", you might not make the connection.

However if it's "Might & Magic: Heroes" and "Might & Magic: Crusaders", you will most likely be reminded of the former and it just might pique your interest.

I doubt it had anything to do with Ubisoft playing boss to the fans by changing the name. The idea is just stupid...

I think that recycling old music and characters was made in an effort to show that they respect the older games and pay tribute to them. Probably to appease the fans who were angered for dropping the old world.

If that was just a marketing trick to win the old fans back or if they really meant it, I don't know and I don't care. I'm just glad to see these familiar characters again and listen to these great tracks.

Wait a minute...They changed it to Might and Magic:  Heroes VI!  That's so dumb!  I can't believe it!  Although I suppose it makes sense, if they want to tie the Heroes games in more closely with the Might and Magic games...

Yes, this makes the most sense as you put it above.
I wonder what other types of Might & Magic games branch off this "umbrella" franchise now.....would dig another Dark Messiah FPS vibe...."Might & Magic: Dark Messiah II"

Well you can. We got 10 of these guys in the CZ. so I think its on the initiativ of the local company.

But it is Expensive, a little to much just to smash it in fury for those horryfic monday.

So is there any plans to buff Inferno after all?

I've been wondering about that for a while, that these guys are seriously underpowered.

Or maybe it's healing that is overpowered and a faction with no access to any good healing method, doesn't seem to be up there with the rest of them.

Yeah, if it was up to me, healing would not resurrect fallen creatures. Neither the healing of Sisters, Coral Maidens and Ghosts and nor the Heal spell. Only life drain, resurrection and necromancy should be able to bring them back from the dead.

But I would still buff demons, Gating is the hardest faction ability to use. This is a major balance issue, I hope they're looking at it.

I fully agree with this

But bear in mind, for beta 1.4, Healing cooldown increased to 4 (from 3) and Mass Healing can only be done once per battle.

Also, the Inferno faction ability has been powered up I think, hasn't it, so if you playing the demo, you won't pick this up...

Well, at one point I downloaded the maps for beta and had that 4 turns per heal too.

If Gating was buffed too, it wasn't noticeable. It's not about how many creatures summon and when will they come, its weakness is in the gauge which takes ages to fill up when compared to the factions' gauges. Luck just doesn't come by oftenly.

Anyway, it is not enough: Heal should not be able to resurrect. Period. I mean, I picked it up even with my Stronghold Barbarian hero, and it was still the most oftenly used ability in the battles. And that's just wrong.

then you could remove those spells all together, as they would be quite useless, as for the problems of inferno my biggest issue is with hell hounds... large unit with no defence and no no retaliation is just useless, that has to be crappiest unit of all factions imho

Their usefulness is in healing not resurrecting. If they wanna keep it like this, they might as well rename it "Resurrection" and make it be Tier 3 and not Tier 1 and accessible to everyone even at level 1.

They should have nerfed Necromancy instead. This is seriously overpowered. I can't believe it that I was thinking the Necro Heroes would be weakened without the ability to raise extra troops out of the fallen enemies but now I see they're just as strong as always if not more.

Seriously, losing even one skeleton in a Necro fight, is impossible against even a high threat level neutral stack. With ghosts and necromancy and life drain and all that, everything is so easy for them.

When poor inferno can't defeat a trivial stack of ranged elite creatures without losing a couple hellhounds.
