Quote: @War-overlord so basically your expected lineup is exactly the same as H5 (for Elite and Champion of course) but we all know that H6 factions are more or less drastically different from previous HOMMs.
Do you not think that this lineup is more probable? (since it's quite different from H5) and I'd also really like the Thunderbirds to return
No, the line-ups aren't that drastically new over the board. Necropolis is pretty traditional with only 2 actually new creatures (Fatespinner and Lamasu) and one new guy we've seen before (Ghoul). Many new creatures are reimaginings of old creatures. (Sentinels = Pikeman, Sun Riders= Cavaliers, Sisters = Priests)
I am not sure wether we should see the revealed Stronghold as new or not, but Goblins and the Reavers don't exactly resemble the Warrior or Goblins of HoMMV, so they could be new and the Harpies are definately new. So we've got plenty new already.
Seeing as how the Harpies are from the island of Pao, it's not a great leap of logic to end up with Pao-Kai, who are known to be found with the Orcs. Also given the fact that if there's no elite flyer present, Stronghold will be pretty lacking in the air.
And given how immensly powerful Cyclops are in Ashan, they will certianly not be Elite. Cyclops are able to tear down castlewalls barehanded. Elites are roughly on par, and I've seen no elite yet who is able to do something on par. It's pretty illogical to put them on Elite status with that in mind. And as Cyclops are confirmed to return, they will be champions or bosses.
Now I admit that Shamen aren't that certain given Orc magicall capabilities. They may be Heroes, but as all three previous factions have casters on elite level, it's likely that Stronghold has as well.
Centaurs or Orc Riders are the least certain. Centaurs haven't been that powerfull in the past and as of yet there have not been Orc Riders. However, if there is no such thing, elite tier will be lacking a unit that is able to take a punch.
In general the line-ups are following pretty rigid rules.
Core consists of Assault, Ranged and Support or Fast-Attack
Elite consist of Tank, Caster Support and Flyer/Assault.
And then there is the Champion.
They all fit in this pattern and the new Core of Stronghold does as well, so the coming tiers will likely fit in this rule as well.

Quote: Looking at what has already been revealed, the Behemoth are eventualy likely to be a boss. According to the christian mythology, the Behemoth is an enormus demon living inside the earth (like Leviathan in the sea). The confirmed bosses are like bigger versions of the champ units from Haven and Necropolis, and taking into consideration that the Inferno champ unit are not devils, but pit lords, the devil might be a boss. Also the big water dragon from the demo-movie might be linked to a possible naga faction, since it looks like an asian dragon, and the artwork we have seen of the nagas in Ashan looks very asian inspired. And nagas are, as we know, the chosen of the dragon god of water...
Now that I've re-watched the video with the waterdragon boss, I totally agree! I think the swamp/jungle belongs to Naga, possibly asian inspired! There are even pink flowers on the water where the dragon emerges:

Mayhaps that dragon is an avatar of Shalassa, like the fire dragons in H5 where avatars of Arkath. The dwarves in H5 had some norse over them(like the names of the heroes), and the fire dragons were also refered to as salamanders ("week of the salamander"(fire dragons)). In norse mythology you can find great wyrms of fire called salamanders!

Yeah, sure. btw, why do you quote my reply in spanish ???
Quote: One of the new creatures is a female creature that used to be male in old Heroes games.
Behemots will come back. And this time, they have boobs
It makes sense when you think about it twice: The Orcs pray to Father Sky and Mother Earth. Father Sky could be the Roc ?

This theme of forbidden magic and dark cults has already the necropolis so I think a comeback of the Dungeon is inprobable.

I still really like these new orcs. I think they look a lot better than the orcs in H5; and although I'm not sure how goblins will work with the boomerang (unlimited ammunition, maybe?), I'm now confident that the Strongfort faction will be up to snuff.

Behemoth can't upgrade into any other names, it is a maximum superlative, only elder/ancient/greater/grand/ etc would fit, put gargantuan below and the upgrade called behemoth.

I actually think they'll be incorporating a t-rex type creature in H6. More and more it looks like they take stuff from Kings Bounty, but the T-rex in KB was part of the lizard faction, so maybe it'll be in the 5th faction!
On second thought I really like the idea of a huge panther/tiger humanoid as an elite or champion unit for the Orcs. Like many people here, I hope they don't have a faction completely filled with large and small orcs, but instead mix it up with creatures.
The Shaman to me is a guarantee, though I hope the shaman is more like KB than homm5. The KB shaman was a superb support unit that utilized totems, and could definitely change the tactics of a battle.

The Russian insiders did say there won't be much differences from H5 in Stronghold with most creatures returning. Unfortunately Google Translator is not good enough, so I can't tell if they really confirmed the Wyvern, any of the Russian members can clarify?

Hello everyone !
I'm from Germany and new to this community, though i've been following the discussion (and HoMM)since the first day. I'd like to give my two cents every now and then, starting now :

the description mentions shaman and cyclops so we might get the h5 stronghold back
anyway, I think they could have replaced either the goblins or the maulers, both h5 creatures, with something new and interesting
harpies look amazing though
I am HOPING that H6 Stronghold will look like this:
Core
Goblin
Harpy
Mauler
Elite
Thunderbird
Witch Doctor
Auroch
Champion
Behemoth
I guess Elite will have a flyer.

Well they have confirmed: Goblin, Harpy, Mauler, Shaman and Cyclops
The Shaman and Cyclops just dont have any official Artwork yet - But they mention them in the goblin Description,
So I suppose the Goblin is going to be JUST LIKE H5 a cannon fodder
(and also an indication that the Cyclops will be much like H5 , as they can throw them - so probably a ranged/melee version again)

I've really really been hoping for the return of the Behemoth, but it seems it will be a boss, if anything.
Also, I'm calling Stronghold as a Plains faction. Just cause.
There's been some posts here and on the official forum that seem to indicate it may not, in fact, be jungle. No confirmation though.

Well local Insider Elvin is questioning why people seem to insist calling Stronghold a jungle faction. So there is reasong for suspicion.
