as for playing for power, that was never the reason why i picked a town. it was never about tactics, but which creatures were the coolest. i always picked necro(with 1, it was warlock; because dragons are next in line of cool creatures), simply because i love playing the undead. rotten reanimated corpses, mutant zombies, skeletons, vampires, mummies, bone dragons... it's where it's at, imo. the undead are the dogs snowin' bollocks.

Nah, you love playing the OP faction, like I do. I know Heroes IV Death to be completly unballanced for humans AND you will never see a map made by me that doesn't start as Death, cause playing the OP faction and give opponent a large initial advantage you then have to put against with your special tricks is what makes the maps cooler in my opinion.
On Heroes III OTOH I usually not choose Necropolis for my starting town, I prefer Cove, Castle, Tower or Conflux instead cause I think they have stronger units BUT I always develop an hero with necromancy, to pave the ground for the moment I find the last component of the Cloack.
Don't get me wrong, Necromancy is totally OP against the map but in Heroes III and IV is almost totally independent from towns and to fight an opponent hero Heroes III units have many desadvantages to go allong with the advantages. So, to fight my enemies I generally prefer a more straight forward approach like angels/archangels and titans or enchanters on a Logistics specialist or angels/archangels/SAs and Master Genies (turned from liches raized with the Cloack, using the Altar of Transformation) in an Offense one.
It's ok to prefer what is OP as a player, I even think is what you should aim for. If the map should allow you that is a choice of the mapmaker if playing a custom map. If not after a while you have but one, play against BAI or a facsimile.

Necromancy was never OP in regular maps or templates. People used to play medium maps, with few towns, early interaction between players so necro was even penalized, being attacked day 3 at latest isn't going to help harvesting. Is when people started to create closed templates that they realized how this will change the necro potential. Which was not (probably) intended by designers, seeing the design of maps they delivered with the game.

Exactly, for the maps delivered with RoE Tower and Master Gremlins day 1 is what's OP. It's probably the reason why the rush had their name.

I am new h3 player so don`t bash me, a lot. I am playing on heroesworld.ru now and I may say necro and flux with their rules are pretty balanced.

for necro - necromancy specialists can`t get exp necromancy until very late and vampires can`t be graded

for flux - pixies, psychics, firebirds can`t be graded

also cloak of the undead king is banned.

we play with fly, DD, tp, angel wings and I strongly agree with Angelito that those should never be banned.

templates used are : 6lm10a, 8mmx***, jebus, spider, diamond, 2sm4d(3)

Not to worry Natalka, Mr Crag Hack will take care of that.

Everyone to their own rules and I also agree DD etc can be allowed depending on the map. In my world though Necromancy is the big villain when it comes to the necropolis. Disable it and dismiss any aquired skeletons and the town is balanced as it is. Vamp Lords and Dread Knights are cool and good units but the weak lv 7, medium lv 5 and weak lv 2-3 balances it out.
As for flux, well those rules seems legit to me.

It is so obvios that imbalances are exist. Good Aligment (Castle, Rampart, Tower) have significant advantage over Evil Alignment. They enjoy having high hp and great damage potential while Evil Alignment lack of them.

Also attack, defense, logistics specialist heroes are really game breakers.

How to make H3 more tactical once again by lowering disproportion between heroes skills (f.e. when Imps killing Angels coz hero with Imps have too high attack skill) ?
1. Make random map
2. Open it with map editor
3. Limit hero lvl to 10 (for testing) or 22 (for expert all secondary skills)
4. Save the map & play it!
5. Now you can feel more balance without too powered heroes (armies)

Now artifacts and tactics on battlefield really matter. Any suggestions are welcomed

I have a feel that you don't understand Heroes 3. Let me tell you a story! In RoE campaign had played 2500 skeletons (he JVC taught us how to use skeletons.) When all is finished (a player has studied), and he offered the great multi-player. You say imbalanced or banned. Do you know that Heroes 4 in battle is an improved version. It's real balance. One single is a mistake: Heroes 3' battlefield. (( But ERA can create alternative optio. Do want to play a new battlefield. And the greatest Heroes 3 will live for a long time. Ubisoft learns still between heroes 3 and heroes 4. ))

heroes 3 multiplayer is not that good to me IMO unless all agree to do automatic battles vs neutral monsters. Otherwise everyone uses cheese OP tactics vs neutrals which are repetivie and depend on bad AI. And most combats are neutral stacks combats, with only a few hero-to-hero or town-vs-hero combat so...

Other way is to remove neutral stacks from the map.

If that was true, it would suffice to watch a few games of pros then just learn such "cheesy" tactics, or the reality shows it doesn't work that way. There are tons of parameters, map, factions, terrain, hero skills and spells, artifacts, monsters and day of the game which basically prohibit a repetitive and boring pattern. The hero-with-mass-slow-safely-kills-everything stereotype does not fit in multiplayer competitive game because, in order to win, you have to take more risks than your opponent, break faster to goodies zones, use better chains, have less casualties and such.

One can also observe that there are still H3 tournaments running and constantly being advertised. People still enjoy the MP aspect precisely because the new templates and the challenge they deliver are being optimized, leading to multiple gameplay variants.

and heroes are too cheap...and creatures have unlimited movement on map if they are taken by one hero after another hero...and flee from battle teleports you to every owned town on map, no matter how big it is...

Haven't thought of this idea but it sounds great! Not being able to upgrade certain creatures forfeits the race from some abilities which change the immersion of the gameplay for that race.

Vampires without drain and Pixies with no retaliation adjust the early-mid game pace for those races.

Try to play at 200% for a change.
At 160% you can buy all heroes with army, build something and still buy a couple of units and makes them in fact look cheap. Do all the moves to find 2500 of gold or pick battles just with your first hero and tell me you still have that impression.

I always play at 200% and 2500 gold is very small price for hero.
