It was actually called that way in some regions so it isn't really a retcon.
Only Europe and some other parts used old name version for H5 due to fan protest.
I think what Kodial79 means is that the story of Ashan with the the different elemental dragons worshipped by different races, etc occurs from Heroes V and onwards for all might & magic games.

Good "compromise" 
By the way when I looked at your Sylvan faction in the Expansion thread, I must say it looks really solid and interesting.
That truly is a faction you could develop even more. (heroes, racials lore, buildings, etc...)

I do not understand why you want Marksman and Sentinels in your Haven line-up, if you just end up calling them "boring" yourself. :S
I think its okay myself, but I've never liked the idea of having normal animals as creatures.
I like that you brought back the cool Magog for Inferno. Succubus deserve to be elite, but I really miss Pit fiends here (I thought those were one of the three best creatures in H5, the other two being the Rakshasa and Pao-Kai).
I've never liked Hellhounds myself. Never found them interesting.
For Necropolis, again I do not like normal animals as creatures such as the Doom Widow and I think Mummies look lame for some reason unless the whole theme of the town is egyptian.
I have nothing against your Stronghold, though I would replace Wyvern with a Pao-Kai, Thunderbird or even Coatl (depending on theme of the orcs, in my Stronghold idea the Orcs are based on the Norse).
I think its totally lame that you demote Kirins to Elite creatures and make the old, boring Hydra the champion.
Naga are a major, major race in Ashan (just like humans and elves) and do not deserve to be a single creature, imo.
I love the idea of a tako, even though it makes me think of tacos which makes me hungry.
I kinda like your Academy, especially the Sand Golem. What I do not like is that you removed the awesome old Titans. ;(
For Sylvan, the Ecalyse is very original and cool! Certaintly your best idea!
A silver phoenix really fits with theme of your Sylvan and I use Shifters in my own Sylvan, so of course I like those.
Personally, I dislike Satyrs for some reason.
For Dungeon, Arguses are excellent replacements for the copyrighted Beholders! Its great to see the Minotaurs return as powerful creatures and I have always liked the idea of worms/wyrms coming up from the earth.
But if this is based in Ashan, I think there should be some kind of Faceless creature in the line-up.
And just because I used to play a lot of WoW, I associate Kobolds with silly ratmen so I just... I just can't see serious kobolds in my head. xDDDD But that's just because Blizzard brainwashed me.

my thought on the current line ups :
haven :
it is pretty cool overall. I'm concerned that many high level creatures may have the ability to fly (griffins, angels and sun riders) though, that would compensate the lack of shooters.
if the sun rider can only fly under some conditions (like the horned leaper) it would be ok.
I'm also worried that both the glories and sun riders may have the blinding attack, it would make them a bit too similar, and maybe overpowered too.
stronghold :
this one is promising, maybe only one flyer is too little, but it sounds like the centaurs could compensate well. my main concern would be the shamans. mass haste + mass slow? imba?
necropolis : overall, seems good too. I hope the lich can shoot. the life drain ability seems a bit overused. what the point of having to choose between different units if they have similar abilities?
inferno : this is the least convincing one as I'm unsure there will be any shooter or flyer.
the succubus sounds like she has efreet's abilities, and if she is nothing more than a melee attacker, better have the efreet instead.
the maniac seems boring, if they don't find cool abilities for him, they should better replace it with a magog, so we are sure to have at least one shooter.

I do not get what's confusing.
When the Spring Spirit was leaked, most people obviously did not receive it well.
When the screenshot with lots of elemental creatures was released a while ago and the watery creature had a similar shape to that of the Spring Spirit in the artwork, a lot of people came to the conclusion that they had replaced the Spring spirit and instead made it into the Water elemental.
but tbh I never got how you thought she looked like a man on the screenshots?

Well that was just the impression I got - it reminded me of this:
Anyway, if River Spirit has indeed been made into Water Elemental, then that would give us a new creature in Sanctuary.

I'm still advising caution. Look at the sister's face (In-game also she's called Priestess as we saw, which what she was originally called but changed?), it's different than of that we know.
The Elemental's face is also different of that in game (golden tiara).
So basing on the "Priestess" name on the combat log and her artwork, and on the water elemental artwork and in-game model, makes me think that something weird is going on.
If this is final on the water elemental/spring spirit then what about the sister artwork which was officially revealed? You think a unit's artwork would change once it has been officially revealed? Wouldn't they annouce that?
All I am saying is, this video wasn't shot today. It could be a week old, but it could also be months old. It could even be older than the leaks, we have no way of knowing that. The sister's artwork is telling me that it's a video shot before even revealing the Haven units.

Terrain? I'm not so sure about that... Earlier in the video, where he forces some ghosts to flee, we see that they use the spider symbol too. Then he fights with some praetorians who as we see, use the haven symbol. In the same terrain. So this is not terrain symbol, it's a symbol showing the creature's faction affiliation. So either spring spirit affiliated with sanctuary or neutral not affiliated with any faction, they can't have the spider symbol. Placeholders.

SO far the Spring Spirit is the only one that is really ugly. 
The animations are boring...
Anyways Nighty you'll get my factions tomorrow instead, it seems I need to spend more time to make it perfect(better).

so, if I understand well, we might have a water elemental which will be similar to one of the sanctuary unit and a light elemental which will be similar to glories?
what else? the fire elemental is gonna be a burning juggernaut maybe?
