I CAME HERE TO TALK ABOUT HOMM!!!
this is just a general point, but I have noticed a few users on this site who make this claim of "I came here because I was a fan of homm," or "I came here to talk about Homm". which is all well and good, and pleasant, until you realise that almost none of their posts are outside the OSM.

I came to the site initially to talk about HOMM. I soon became engaged in the OSM. My initial involvement in the OSM came about because I wanted to respond to the "America bashing" and "Christian bashing" I saw as I began to explore the non-HOMM forums here.
My first non-HOMM post was a political one:

My initial posts in the OSM were different than they are now. I was more diplomatic and appealed to people to adopt a more friendly tone. I appealed to moderators to enforce the COC. Eventually when it became apparent nothing was going to change I started using similar "strong language" that the anti-theists were throwing at Christians, like "delusion", "fairy tale", ect. This "mirroring" of their language greatly upset some of them and I hoped this would cause them to see what they were doing and change their tone.
I also was once very active in the official HOMM boards and still post there on occasion, though mostly to answer some question someone has as there is really not any strategy discussion there any longer. Also, recently Ubi comgined all the HOMM boards into a "legacy" board which is strange since HOMM6 is not out yet.
Assuming I buy HOMM6 when it comes out (I may not if it sticks to the promised DRM) my focus is likely to return to HOMM topics though I doubt I'll totally ignore the OSM.

The glade is.... no is gripping on the edge, a influx gained from the next failure of the series might save it.
And I enjoy the OSM because it is a interisting place, because discussion are interisting. While it has died down quite the bit since I joined, meh, its still good once in a while.
So yeah, I orginally came because of Heroes. Of heroes III and partially 4, even though I was never good enough to compete or got anything LAN related working.

HC wasn't the first HoMM-board I joined, and when I did, most of what I had to say about HoMM at that point had been said already.
That will hopefully change when HoMM 6 comes out.

I came here because I could no longer get access to Celestial Heavens (sorry it's true). Stayed because for the most part people were awesome. Now ... *shrugs*

I came here for WoG and then eventually moved to the Library where, I admit, I wasn't the best of members. Got on the wrong side of many people since I was a spammer and, at the time, a bit of a troll. Improved my ways and started to post in other forums and contribute better. Nowadays I just post here when I find the chance to. Still got a few (well maybe considerably less considering the way I've acted recently) friends here so I try and catch up with them every now and then.
A lot of things have changed since I first got here. Tavern was more fun to post in, VW was different and consisted of SPAM (obviously) but it was a good kind of SPAM, not the useless kind we have nowadays oh and it was funny as well. OSM used to be good, where people could debate intelligently and discussions were normal and tempers were not so bad all the time but alas that time is gone. Glade was fairly active but is no longer active which is a shame because I did like posting in there a fair bit. Library was good and I liked reading what Maretti, Xarfax and Angelito used to write.
It's a considerably different forum now than what it used to be and I'm still wondering if it's gotten better or worse. Time will tell.

How much time can you spend to play Heroes1-5 games until you get bored and move to something else and then after a three years you came back and whooos i found new strategy thread will come appear....discuss discuss... and you back to real world and the osm

I didn't come here to talk about homm. I came here to read about it, and that's all I did for maybe 6 months before joining. However I didn't join because of homm, I mostly joined because of the OSM.
The thing that really attracted me to the OSM was that it was so civil and polite, with informed people who could discuss politics in a good humored way and joke with each other and not take the debates too seriously. Things have changed.....

well, HOMM as a purpose is like alcohol in terms of a gateway...
I am not sure about others but my original postings are pretty much HOMM content exclusive... Infact I checked the pre release HOMM4 topics like 6 months before I registered.
then I found HC to be an outlet where I vented off nonsense and complete pointlessness many times over. Sorry, its like I am clicking defrag my brain when I come here...

I can't actually say I joined this site because of HOMM. 
As my personal story goes, Misty used to have an RPG that OmegaDestroyer eventually took over (Dawn of War; eventually renamed the War of 5/8 IIRC...been such a while). Since Omega stopped posting at CH, for reasons I'm not going to elaborate on, he moved the RP over here and asked us to move as well. We all did, but around that time we lost asandir, because his wife was ashamed of his trolliness (or something like that :/).
Then I dragged Kareeah over here because I love her to death to create my Pokemon RPG, which I eventually turned over to her. She's done an excellent job as GM and I lobby for QP's for her every once in a while. 
That's pretty much it.
As an aside, you think moderation is strict here, go to CH. I must've been warned so many times it was ridiculous (to be fair, I did ask for it at times...but spammy fun is fun in moderation. )

One thing to keep in mind is that there are still a lot of H3 veterans here. They never became fans of H4-5 and there isn't really much to say in the library any more. Most of the stuff in the Library is either the same thing that's been talked about a thousand times before, or some of the hard core people are still reverse engineering the game and finding out the dark deep secrets.
For the first several years I posted approx half and half in the Library and OSM, with only a small amount elsewhere. But as I said, there just isn't much to say in the Library any more. I've pretty much given up on new homm games because the last two sucked and Ubisoft pissed me off, so I don't care at all about H6.
