Yeah I know... It's actually the def that is wrong, I wanted to use regular Sharpshooters and the defs got mixed up. I think it is ok in the Standalone version though, I don't remember. In any case I've already fixed this in the upcoming update.

Referring to the .dat file with the choice of scripts, yeah.

For some reason it's going nuts with script errors, even using the example .dat file in the heroes of light folder, and your instructions for certain things being on and off.  Using ERA installation.

If I figure out what's causing it I'll update.

I recently finished editing the mod's new dwellings. I also edited the Sea creatures dwellings (introduced in HoLv3.1) and the original lineup a bit. I thought I changed the Sirens' def in a one closer to the myth. According to Greek mythology and The Odyssey the sirens are more like Harpies (see next pic) rather than Water spirits (as it is often themed by the western culture) and since I am Greek myself, well I couldn't resist:



So, since Sirens and Harpies are basically the same thing I used the non upgraded harpy def for the sirens. Furthermore, since Mermaids are kindred to Medusas (both Gorgons, Poseidon's children) I gave them the same stats and similar appearance and abilities. I also made the Pirates a third level creature and Wenches a 5th level creature (so that there are 7 different creatures of the 7 levels). In any case here are the new dwellings and new Sea creatures:

 



For the dwellings I used some from HotA (Pirates, Wenches and Halcyons), master of Puppets mod (Leviathans) and the others I made myself using original Heroes animations (sirens and Mermaids). The Leviathan's Lair has 3 different defs to choose. All that means that the original Crimson Tides campaign has to be edited heavily. I intend to do this and in fact I will edit all the campaigns from my previous mod to make it combatible with the new one and also enhance the gaming experience as much as I can. I will use more WOG objects this time and so try to make them more collorfull and fun to play.

Additionally, I edited some of the remaining WOG dwellings. I changed all the 8th level dwellings since most of the 8th level creatures were changed around in my mod. I also used recolored versions of the original 7th level dwellings in some cases (Behemoths, Hydras and Phoenixes) because to be frank I never liked any of the 8th level animations. Maybe If I find better defs for those three I will change them to something more original (rather than just a recolloring). Again, I used in some cases the great work done by Astaroth, some i found in the H3sprite.lod and some i've done myself.



This is actually a great step forward towards the completion of HoLv3.2 because it means that I am done changing things around. Now there are only three more steps before the release:

1) Polish some creature animations (maybe some objects too), small edits in the script and txt files.

2) Run some tests to see that it works flawlessly, find bugs, balance issues etc. In this stage I may release a closed beta version in order to have more testers (if anyone of you wants to participate in a closed beta that is).

3) Edit the previous campaigns and make a new one (Tales of Amadar campaign).

After that the mod will be ready. If my calculations are correct the final version will be ready during the summertime (I hope early in the summer that is) so that you can enjoy it on your vacations

I am guessing the beta version will be ready in a few weeks... So...

Did you consider using the Triton def from MM8? Not sure how to extract, but I'm sure its similar to MM7 method and then you don't just have a miscolored trog...

I am testing the ERA 2 version made by Bersy. There are problems with zeobjts.txt, I think it should be cleaned of all not available defs, as editor looks very messy. You had new objects patches in your lods when testing the mod? The tutorial has a few not available defs and will not start before removing them.

That has been suggested a few posts up and as I said then I don't like the MM8 triton def. I was using it on HoLv3.1 and I changed it for this one.

If you are refering to HoLv3.1 I know it is incompatible with ERA II because it wasn't built for it. I noticed that ERA II didn't have lots of updates and is actually a plain WOG which I think is wrong. I think bersy should include the WOG objects update (the one that have the Roman and Chinese objects you've made) and the animated lakes update as well.

Now that you mention it I am afraid that my upcoming mod will be even more difficult to adapt on ERA II because it has a lot of changes:

1) It uses the four unused creatures from regular Heroes (122,124,126,128)

2) Solitaire made a new wog.exe for me because i wanted to add a new faction (more than the regular 10 ones). That should be done in the new wog ERA II exe as well.

3) I changed a lot in Cranim.txt and Zeobjcts.txt so they have to replace the original ones.

4) It replaces a lot of defs and pcx images in the lod

What I was planning to do since the beginning was to release a Standalone version only (based on WOG+ERA1.91 which I currently use). Then If Bersy can adopt this on ERA I will help him as much as I can.

The only incompatibility between ERA and your mod is the cranim.txt.

Other that, there are no problem, except the messed editor. The graphical patches can be packed by each modmaker, no need to have them in ERA or WoG as there is not enough demand for.

There are instructions in the first page of this thread. However, if you are using ERA II this mod (as it is now) is not compatible with it so you must try the Standalone version instead. I think Bersy tried to adapt it and make it playable in ERA II in his ERA mods thread. But it didn't work so far so I suggest you try the Standalone version for now.

The next update may be released in a few months so If you want you can wait for the newer version.

I could upload HoL, but made one serious mistake in Era package: included cranim.txt as file in "Mods\WoG\Data" and thus this cranim.txt overrides all cranim.txt's from pac's/lods. For any mod the rule is simple: files in Data are evil. They should be packed in snd/vid/pac archives. That's why I prefer to release HoL package after Era 2.2 release. Sorry.

Enjoying this a huge amount.  Thanks for all your hard work.  The 3.2 update looks very exciting too.

One thing I miss is working stack experience.


Bug report:  Trying to shoot ranged attack from the Pirates or Wenches in the Crimson Tide campaign causes a crash for me.  Want error report?

I don't know what might go wrong, especially if you are using the standalone version... Are you sure you didn't change anything (erase any txt or change any WOG options)?

Hmm, actually I'm using ERA, Heroes of Light 3.1.  Don't believe I've changed anything ... unless something I did a while back, before installing Heroes of Light, screwed with some locations or something.  Perhaps it could be from having used alternate Commander defs previously? (Not using them now -- as far as I know the commander package is just an ERA mod and shouldn't screw with things if it's not active in the mods folder?  Or so I thought.)

If i understand correctly you installed it on ERA II which as Bersy stated is not compatible with my mod. If you were to use the standalone version you should extract it in a new folder and NOT the original Heroes III folder. That's why it's a standalone version in the first place, it doesn't need anything else to work. If you mix installations you'll always will have problems.

Well, I've been playing the standalone version through internet (tcp/ip connection) for a long time now and this occurs to me often as well. In most of the games when i battle the human player the game skips turns and while I see that it's the other player's turn, the other player sees that it is my turn and so we have to start the battle again.

It is annoying indeed, so I always save the game before I attack a human player in the game (with the AI players there is no problem). Unfortunatelly I don't have a solution for that either (except maybe patience, because if you try the same battle again and again ultimatelly it ends without crashing).

Are you sure that you both have the same WOG options? I don't think that's a factor though because I think the HOST applies the rules to the map. However, check it out and make sure you got the exact same options (just in case).
