What is there to discuss about Denmark? If can just summarize what I got of this thread:
They got 1 racist party into their goverment, they completely lack numbers to have any major effect, but they are sort of cudgeling down the goverment by having that share, and they are taken into consideration at every turn even thou they lack numbers....
So Denmark is suffering from phobia, and the lack of action. Thou, its good to have a different party into the goverment, because monotony is always bad.

JoonasTo: I think I disagree, its not about "tolerance". Just making sure there never moved together enough people of 1 culture with a few strings such as regulation of the marked would have solved the issue, then we would never had to been tolerant in the first place, as assimilation would have happened.  Most immigrants gets assimilated because they never get into a high enough number to create a special subculture, the only case that could happen would be with our fellow nordic country(who is more or less assimilated after a few days, too similar culture).
Lets be honest here, we don't mind immigrants turning up a shop filled with foreign spices and other goodies, that they open a religious building somewhere, and all that. We do mind it when the 2nd and 3rd generation IS NOT assimilated, and it just stops at that point.
On one hand I am glad its happening, because things have not gotten completely out of hand, yet. Once it gets out of hand, things will get really nasty.

Sooo...

No...

I cant say anything...

Really...

Okay

I think it is also to think about the two versions of nationalism --

The one being fanatic and perhaps moving more to Nazistic thoughts, but nationalism is also just about being proud of ones country.

And I am proud . And I think many Swedens are also proud of being swedish, the SD are just.. more fanatic? or even racistic - but we also say that DanskFolkeparti is Racistic, but they also have some good values like taking care of the weaker ones

Lol that is actually what a lot of Swedes ARE NOT. They are not proud of Sweden and the National Day is (unlike in Norway etc) barely celebrated.
Meh, I don't celebrate it myself but still...

Some people even suggested to remove the cross from the Swedish flag because "Muslims could feel threatened by it and unwelcome." wtf xD or to change the national song which doesn't even mention Sweden but it mentions the Nordic countries.

The SD is in no way extreme compared to other similar parties in the world. However, the much smaller ND - National Democrats - is a more extreme and they will probably grow as SD will themselves become more assimilated to the rest of the Swedish parties and tone down a bit.

Dansk Folkepari's main achievements include constraints on immigration, EU skepticism, improvements for the elder and sick, a "tight legal" policy and better animal welfare.

Many opponents of the Danish People's Party believes that the party is discriminat-(ing/ory).. This is particularly the party's critical views on immigration, leading to debate..
"Venstre" has criticized the party for not living up to its social profile in local politics when "Enhedslisten" made a statement of the cuts on the elder area, as DF has supported..

But whats wrong with strong immigration politics?
They do take alot of the Money that could have been used to the elder, or better yet the schools arround in denmark..
And if you take a look at the news, its almost allways an immigrant behind it (And that is not just something i'm saying.. It's true)

I always say, Denmark is for Dane's, if immigrants wants to live here, they must follow our rules and be a part of the danish system, and not break them and bring theire own troubles into the country..

The last line I think is correct.

But it is a little frighting to admit

Yeah, it is, but i think the reason for that is fear. The immigrants might misunderstand it, and maybe feel offended.

Honestly I could not care less about other people living in my country which is why I never approach them in derogatory manner. If a person abides local laws and traditions, let him live there. Immigrants (if they are well-behaved people with enough wisdom and skills to find a job locally) should be allowed to do the jobs they want. A decent set of laws should cover the whole ordeal so that everything is managed and democracy shall reign supreme, be it for the local or the foreigner.

I do have a strong nationalistic view which is why I do not exactly approve of certain communities because of their stereotypical behaviour and disapproval of our local lifestyle. But that does not mean I do not approve of immigrants who work hard to establish themselves here: instead, I respect them for their efforts (take the British for example: quite a few British people come here to work and establish businesses without effectively knowing that they will bite their tongues off trying to speak in our local language; but instead, they prove to be a decent asset to the community as they adapt themselves.

Whenk I think about it, even if I decided to move elsewhere, I know 60% if not more of the people I'd meet there would not approve of me because they would consider me an immigrant, in spite of the fact that I may easily outdo them in my specialization.

Then again, as an example thread-wise, quite a few people I know went to live/work in Denmark when they were offered places in the university with accomodation etc. or work. Honestly, not any of them reported that they are unhappy: on the contrary, they WERE happy there and enjoyed it, in spite of the hint of their "longing for homeland".

people tend to forget that there is plenty of 'bad' danes ( or Swedes, for that matter). It isn't exactly limited to the immigrants. It's not even that more common than most seem to think. Judging from my own experiences I could even say that most immigrants seems to be nicer in general( is quite swedish though, due to our very ' quiet' culture). Last month, for example; car breaks down, right outside a big store for car parts and general tools( on the parking lot), on a very rainy day. How many Swedes do you think passed? How many Swedes do you think even rejected us when we asked for help? Then one foreign guy passes, he offers his help, before we got to ask him, and three minutes we were on the way.

I disagree.. Yes, ofcourse theres alot of bad danes, but there are more bad immigrants (True story),, If you followed our news and papers you would know. The media can't even say immigrant anymore because they got mentioned so many times before and by that created more racism, and by removing the immigrant word from the news, they got the racism down again..
That tells me that they are fewer than the danes, but still makes more trouble. (Ofcourse some of the gangs in denmark (Hells Angels) are just as bad as the immigrants, but not as violent)

Our immigration bouble bursted 10 years ago.. They have been talking about immigrants for as long as i remember, but our bouble bursted in 1995 or 6.
Sweden on the other hand just sweeps the problem under the carpet, their immigration bouble is only beginning to burst out in a huge debate.
