oh yes, I forgot the music : put in : /music/Town-Themes

This town replaces academy and relies mostly on magic and defense.
The creatures usually have good defense (especially magic defense), high initiative, but low manoeuvrability. They are built to work in synergy and better for slow strategies and careful planning

Heros start with the artificer skill, 2 defense, 1 spellpower, 2 knowledge. When leveling up, chances are as follow :
10% offense
30% defense
25% spellpower
35% knowledge

their favourite skills are sorcery and destructive magic. you can guess the chances for defense are high also, whereas the chances for attack are very low. They can learn a 13th skill : shatter dark.

I have to say I am really impressed. Although I do think that some things could use some tweaking.

First of all I think that it is odd to have a creature called a mage that doesn't cast spells I understand why they don't for balance purposes, but I think that giving them a low level defensive spell to cast would not be a bad idea. And it fits with the theme.

The Arcane blades are quite a cool unit, but I don't their abilities quite match up. I can see magic proof, but I don't get how they are elemental or mechanical. I also think that the costs ability would be really cool on this unit and since they are only floating swords, it makes sense.

I also don't like the roc model. It just looks too much like a Griffin to me. Making it brown doesn't really change that too much. I also think that it isn't awesome enough to be a level 6 unit. A roc was never higher than 5th tier. I don't quite get how it relates to the town Rocs are generally hard hitting generally fast attackers. I think a reworked djinn type unit still works a lot better than this. It can fly and perform basically the same role, while fitting the theme a little bit better.

I think that the Magic Crystal and setinal should be seperated by something tier-wise. They are very similar at least graphically, and they serve a somewhat similar purpose. Its kind of lame to have two giant stones for 2 units in a row.

As for the level 7, I think it could benefit from more spell points and some more offensive spells. I really like the unit and its style, although it might be a good idea to try and make it less short, but that's really a minor thing.

I also have a few questions. What is the towns name? How does it relate to the lore? Will their be a campaign?

These are just a few suggestions, take them or leave them. It's your project, do what you want with it. I'm really impressed with your work so far. Keep it up.

wanted them to focus on range attack, since they are the only shooter. they use their magic to shoot.

the thunderbird was an unit of the highest tier in homm4. rocs are like 20m big birds, they should be strong.
don't have much choice for it, between the griffin model and the phoenix model. but I want a bird. it evolves into 2 kinds of magical birds.

could be possible actually. upgrades will have few but very powerful spells. well, as if teleport wasn't good already. but they will be weak for tiers 7, their main role is caster, not attacker.

Well the wisps are living aren't they? I understand that they are "summoned" because they are arcane but Phoenixes are alive and summonable. And sorry I ment the ghost's ability, incorporeal. I just can't spell the word ghost apparently.

I did forget about heroes 4. I guess my main issue is with the model, but i understand why you don't want to use the phoenix one since everyone uses it.

Well they both have relatively defensive stats, and are giant stone things. I'm not saying they aren't different but they have a decent amount in common. On a side note I think that the crystal unit is really really unique and interesting.

That is true, teleport is quite a good thing to have.

Well keeping it academy doesn't quite fit. maybe Tower or just Arcane , since you don't really have any constructs like golems but have lots of just straight up "magical things"? Like a magic crystal and wisp and magic swords. idk lol.

Will rock be bigger than griffin? Also why does everyone choose between phoenix and griffin, am i the first person who uses the firebird model?
And a proposition, it would be cool, if one of the sentinel upgrades had the old treant model
And also to stretch a model, you need to add rotation, while having <w> set to zero, as if you don't know

credits are at the end of the master post. maybe I should have put them at the beginning.


and the level 1 upgrade will have mana syphon, that's why I didn't want the tier 3 as casters. that way, tier 7 will get all the mana.

I thought you were talking about arcane blades. wisps are alive. incorporeality might be a bit much for a tier 1 unit

the crystal isn't very defensive. the only thing it can do is summon lightning bolt.

sentinels will probably be kind of golems.

That's an idea, but it requires me to use a griffin effect, it is quite a bit of work for such little result, especially when the size of creatures isn't realistic anyway. I will focus on more important stuffs first.

I was looking at arcane blades, and thought it actually looked silly. why would wizards enchant such small weapons? I've replaced them with swords.

I was, but they are the same type of mystical spirit thing type unit. So I was comparing them. Since one is a living creature, I think it is reasonable to make the other a living creature too.

oh yes, the crystal isn't low on defense indeed, but it has less HPs than the tier 4 units

well yes but they are magical floating pieces of metal. There has to be some spirit thing holding them up. Otherwise how would you kill them? you can't kill a sword. Personally I always thought of the unit as a magical spirit guiding the swords, hence the glowing. Since it is a spirit it may be interesting to make it incorporeal. If you don't see it that way that's totally cool too.

And I love the mage upgrades They look fantastic. Same with the Setinal upgrades. Especial the Magma guard.

yeah, the other one needs more work I think, it could look more metalic, probably

blade barrier + incorporeal would be a bit over the top
personnaly, I just imagined them as blades which can't fight anymore once they are broken.

there was a mistake with thunder crystal, they lose magic immunity and gain immunity to all elements. it was impossible to teleport them, which made them near useless.

The grifffin looks random. If i can  suggest you something then use overlay over a gray-colored griffin's original texture with your actual texture
