I like the Juggernaut. It's no less original than any other Inferno creature (we've seen them all before, not necessarily in the HoMM games) and it looks powerful. Inferno badly needs a tough melee unit which deals a lot of damage and this one seems excelent for the task. Let's hope that it's not just another Horned Demon who looks like Schwarzenegger and fights like an anorexic girl.

That is a tight rope to walk on. Change inferno too much and you can alienate the old inferno fans, that said you could argue that they've already clossed that line so they might as well go all the way. Not that inferno has ever been a stable faction but you can tell the difference.

H6 only has 5 factions, you cannot afford to alienate many fans

Well, personally I like the Heroes III Inferno and its flexible play style A LOT, many people greatly underestimate it, but I think the new Inferno just needs something that can absorb damage and is not just a Gating surrogate. I blame the racial skill for the fragility of Inferno's creatures in HoMM V and hope they will make it more like a support ability than something absolutely necessary for the army's survival.

Yup, Dungeon has the same fragile creatures because the Warlock has low Defense... Oh, wait a second - it doesn't.

Yeah, it doesn't. A simple comparison of the HP/Defense stats of the creatures from each faction. It so happens that some of the Dungeon creatures have twice as many HP as their corresponding Inferno tiers (Scout, Minotaur, Dark Rider, Hydra... damn, they are more than the half!) and some of them have greater Defense too.

Which is why they are more expensive and have relatively smaller growth.

I was replying to Zeno
Yes, they cost more and have low growth.
Blackies are formidible but with no Defense boost from the Warlock they still fall way too easily.

Not quite.
Hellhound - 15 HP, 2 Defense, 110 Gold, 7 Growth / Minotaur - 31 HP, 2 Defense, 140 Gold, 6 Growth.
Succubus - 20 HP, 6 Defense, 240 Gold, 5 Growth / Dark Rider - 40 HP, 9 Defense, 300 Gold, 5 Growth.
And so on. The slightly lower price and slightly better growth does not compensate for the much lower HP. The majority of Inferno's creatures however are supposed to gate, which means that Inferno is supposed to have larger army on the battlefield than what the hero leads on the adventure map. Very roughly speaking this is somewhat equal to better population growth, although not in the city. So you can't have very tough creatures which come in large numbers. Because of this Inferno's army has been balanced in accordance with its racial skill which supplies extra troops free of charge for the duration of the battle. Hence - no tanks, no tough creatures, otherwise the faction becomes imbalanced (speaking of this, the gating Pit Spawns from TotE are way too brutal). What I would like to see is a re-designed version of the ability so it works as a support, not as the primary mean to match the opponent's desctructive potential.
Edit: to veco - you seem to misunderstand mee. I am not saying that Dungeon's army is tough when led by the Warlock, but that it is tough on its own. Try Dungeon creatures with Knight or Barbarian (and many Morale-boosting goodies of course) and you'll see what I mean.

In other news sylvan is imbalanced because it has been designed to work with avenger in mind.

I assure you that Inferno creeps lead by a Knight/Barbarian will perform just as well or even better than Dungeon critters due to their high initiative, try it and you'll see what I mean

The thing is - Dungeon creeps need the Destructive magic support the same way Inferno needs gating. You exagarate the value of gating too much.

And Dark Raider base growth is 4 btw. And Hellhound is 8. I get them from age of heroes info page, don't know if it's outdated or not and I honestly don't remember about creature growth except maybe one or two.

Edit: Also, Hellhound defence is 3 and Dark Raider is 7 according to the same site.

I was talking only about their general toughness and that Gating affects the HP and Defense of Inferno's creatures from balancing perspective, not what else they need or how each faction plays. Normally most of Inferno's creatures are the easiest to kill when they are neutral on the adventure map (easiest means quickest actually, not that they can't bite). But enough about this.

A typo, I know that it's 4.
