There is always problem, Az. My nation is also at war for it's survival, and we are on the side that's losing it. And if I post about it I'll get:

- Few funny comments
- Few sarcastic comments by JJ, Elodin, Mvass, etc.

It's not funny here, but it's funny there, it's sad here, but it's not sad there.

Same about Korea. The good point about Korea is, that the South is going to win, even if there is war, the world is going to help them, the problems will come after that - how to make them past of our nation? There will be one Korea in the future. The problem is that both of them now are result of a political game between the Great powers. And both are not ruled by their own ideology.

is it brutal to say that I hope one of nations beat the other one, so the country can be united and we can be rid of this ... well... maybe it is not the best..

Ahh..

It will just bring another war to this fragile world! USA will just meddle and then china will back up NKorea...

You know, peace is a fragile thing, it can only last so long.
It is like any sort of thing: Time got an edge over everything.
North Korea and South Korea is starred each other down for 50-60 years, which is a long time. At some point, we might even be at the point, one of the sides will get tired, or something will happen, a minor accident, and because of that, suddenly: WAR!
While we all can agree that north is currently a good example of a dictatorship taken to one of the worst possible conclusions, that is not what it is a about. We should support the south for a simple reason: Because if south becomes a part of north, things will get really nasty down there, really bad things will happen to the populace. They what are they going to do that that? Nuclear holocaust against japan, china or russia? We know the leadership of north is insane and egoistic enough to actually do something like that, and the further consequenses down the road will escalate with each step.
If we look at a bit more distant view, or a more cynical view, that could be said about a lot of nations elsewhere.
Now.... we could walk away, let them have their war, and then let them do whatever hell happens next. It would perhaps be a better solution for the world, to finally get it over with, or it will be a worse solution since the north may win after all.

North wins: Possible nuclear genocide of some form in the horizon
South wins: Humanitarian disaster that needs solving. A really huge one.
So..... lets hope for war, so at the least there will be one problem less in the world.

No offense but you're describing is some c-rated disaster hollywood flick. Not one of your conclusions or thoughts has any connection to reality my friend. Nuclear holocaust... on china and russia it's closest allies of all people... are you high? They won't do anything so drastically stupid. North Korea isn't lead by a group of monkeys on crack. They full well know that if it comes to full scale war they're on the shorter end of the stick. There is such a thing as a selfpreservation instict which not even the North Korean regime is devoid of... Whatever North Korea does it will not endager its existance out of sheer spite you moron.
But you know what I find really said? Your oppinion.

I was thinking:
Would China really be able to back North Korea to the hilt again as they did in the 50s? China is far more involved, and respected, on a world scale than they were back then. North Korea is a country which most of the world views as lead by a deranged madman; while China might certainly still support them, I don't know that they'd be able to without losing significant amounts of face and global support; their reputation is something they have to consider this time around.

I do hope this proves to be no more than another disgusting chest-beating incident on North Korea's part; I can't even imagine what it would be like to have to constantly live with the threat of warfare at a moment's notice.

Then what in your opinion is the way to solve this?Nothing good can come out of North Korea since it has mental patients leading it.

You see, world wars began with two heavily conflicted superpowers, each with powerful allies at their disposal.

Here we have a small, starving, overly armed country against the whole world.

See the difference?

I'm not saying that this couldn't be solved with a war I'm saying it's perverse to actual wish for the war to happen. Germany managed to get back together with it's communist half without starting a war so why shouldn't the south? Their regime might not be the smartest that's for sure but they realize that the situation is as bad as Doomforge says. They're not going to do anything too drastic.

Azagal: As I said: Give it enough time, and it can happen.
Last time I checked US and Soviet was starring each other down for a really really long time before Soviet dissolved itself politically.
I heard whoever is going to take over after his great great father in the north is at the least equally a insensitive arse. Which means he will be around keeping the "evil glare" up, and that also means a diplomatic reasonable solution is out of range, unless someone decides to throw in mutiny and decides to attempt to land in a reasonable diplimatic solution behind the top leaders back, they will stare each other down and down and down. While there also will be random agreements and negotiations from time to time, I doubt they will change status quo in a reasonable way.
At some point, a war could happen.
And nukes? Could happen.

And Germany got united again because both sides knew that they would be better off, and they was not completely suppressed. There was westerns traveling throughout the USSR from times to time, there was literature and people could gather and talk. Which more or less means that the situation is not comparable.

Well, Seven Years' War also fits that category, technically

North Korea is not a superpower. It's economically broke, its army may be big but it's geographic position is horrible and the leaders are completely delusional. It has next to none allies (China may be one but it's really exaggerated to say they would follow them into war) and is being actually condemned by every other nation there is.

It also has zero influence on the world and is pretty much an enclave.

Is this a major threat to the world? Nope.

I'm not too sure about that... It also brings out the -best- in people at the same time, in an ironic way. Conflict-situations by nature make it perfectly clear wether you have any integrity or not.

What you are sad about is simply the fact -most- people don't have any integrity, which is indeed the worst.

But hey, emotional and physical pain aside, war at least helps dealing with the issue of overpopulation.

I disagree. It is precisely for the reasons you gave that N. Korea is the one nation that is a true threat to the world, excluding the USA; but the dangers of the USA are due to an excess of might and influence and not a threat in the sense of causing mass destruction.

It is economically broken and thus desperate; it's leaders are completely delusional; it has next to no allies; it's being condemned by every other nation there is; it got completely annihilated by Portugal in the World Cup.

With those combined conditions, what you have is the one nation that just might be desperate, abandoned, and embittered enough to do what is completely irrational, and it has the means to do it, at least to South Korea and likely Japan. Some day, it might be able to send bombs to North America and Europe.
