World Cup in Qatar.. Is that a Joke???

Just saw the news about Qatar hosting Football World Cup 2022..
Listen guys, seriously, is that some kind of a joke???
WTF!!!! football in 60 degrees heat???
FIFA is selling itself for oil dollars ... that is so sad...
The world cup, such a major event , will take place in qatar, that is absolutely ridiculous, stupid, and unfair...
I hope that everyone will boycott that decision...
just unbelievable..

What's wrong with Quatar? it's a very rich country. Their GDP per capita is roughly 5x higher than Poland's. Did anybody boycott Poland&Ukraine's Euro 2012?

Umm... the main force of football is South America, and they play in hella hot weather all the time. Get over it.

I think Qatar is a great choice. They have the facilities to host it, and it's an opportunity to give tons of media attention to the M.E. in a positive setting for once.

i don't know, it just seems so weird to me...
60 degrees??? can u imagine??? everyone gonna melt over there...
For the stadiums they promised some kind of air-cooling system..
so maybe players will be allright..
But what about the fans from all over the world??? The ones that won't be able to get ticket and will watch it on big screens??
In their country it's not even allowed to drink alcohol on the streets...
Weirdest World Cup possible....

Well, alcohol is rightfully called poison in Islam (which I study in school atm) sooo... ehm why do you need to go to Qatar to watch it on a screen? :S If you go to Qatar to see it, then you sit in the arena.

If there's one thing Qatar has, it's money and rich dudes. Air-conditioning a friggin football stadium somehow seems completely feasible.

As for the alcohol, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a loophole around that also. The Saudis/Bahrain/Qatar are Islamic, but they also have a hard-on for money.

The traffic in Qatar that summer is going to be crazy, imagine that little country with so much to see, in that few days, for so many people

I like that they also only have 3/12 arenas built, so in 12 years they are going to build 9 arenas in country of 11,437 km^2, That's amazing to say the very least

60 degrees? Why, that's not bad at all! Gets to be 80+ here in the summer sometimes, and even that's not too rough.

@Vlaad-Haha, now there's something they probably haven't thought of.

Good. At least it's not in my country as Soccer is, overall, one of the most boring sports to watch. It's fun playing, I admit, but I get no enjoyment whatsoever watching a game on TV where they may score 1 or 2 goals in a match. That's not exciting, it's just boring as hell. At least the AFL seasons are not interrupted.
