Even though I love H3 Fortress, and the possible Naga (aquatic) faction, I think that they are quite unsimilar...e.g. the units we can expect from "Naga" faction in H6 are (IMO):
- Naga (obv)
- Sea Serpent/Coatl
- Sea Monster/Leviathan
- Mermaid
- Troglodyte
- Merman
- Sea Turtle
- Electric Jellyfish (yay )
- Ninja Dolphins throwing Starfish Shurikens
So it doesn't quite resemble Fortress...besides Fortress is a jungle-like swamp, and the "Naga" faction would probably be aquatic.

Sorry, but how would the earth-dwelling Trogdolyte be a creature within a faction with a race that worships the Dragon of Water, Shalassa?
I think they will introduce some Asian myth/religion creatures to HoMM with the Naga. It is the perfect opportunity.

I kinda agree, I was actually gonna say Murloc, but from experiance I know I'd get attacked

While I'm sure its likeable, I think a lot of people are putting Fortress first primarily b/c they miss it. If it had been in Homm5 from the beginning then I doubt it'd have as much of a following.
My personal favorite was Homm2 Academy.

people, PLEASE don't just say "I like XYZ best"...this is a competition of all factions and the finals are between fortress (H3) and Warlock (H2) while Necropolis (H3) and Inferno (H3) fight about the third place. All other factions, like Academy, have been sorted out in the previous rounds.

Yeah, I guess that's one solution...what the "Warcraft racists" don't realise, is that if various games (HOMM, Warcraft, Starcraft etc.) were prohibited from sharing ANY creatures, there simply wouldn't be enough creatures in the world to compose more than ONE game  Seriously...
Besides, Warcraft and HOMM already "share" many creatures (e.g. Dragons, Elves, Orcs, Undeads, hundreads of others). AND, how can one accuse of HOMM "stealing" ideas from Warcraft, if most of them aren't Warcraft's in the first place? PLEASE, does anyone think that (any) computer games (that started in the 90s, e.g.), have the right to "reserve" any creatures that originated in myths and legends, some of which are 1housands of years old???

But, to say one last point (and if you want a longer discussion with me, you can PM me if you dare): the ones you mention are older than the games. Problems appear when a game/world is the one where very certain the creature first appeared...but as I said, we shall not discuss this here^^
