HOMM2 for iPad, out now!

I just bought it, took it for a test drive, and absolutely love it! . It's only 1.99$ and has both singleplayer maps (no campaign, just stand alone maps) and hotseat multiplayer mode to kill your traveling hours with!

It's not official Ubi, but there is some explanation that parts of it is freeware or something, the rest gets installed after download! I'd say get it now or cry like a baby if Apple removes it!

Correction, there is no campaign, only a load of single player maps to play and also hotseat for multiplayer!
Since the resolution is different than the original game, the title menuscreen is a smaller window, so is the combat screen. But the adventure map is fullscreen, they just let you see more! It's all beautiful pixels without any scaling going on!

Surely Ubisoft must be thinking about this platform aswell, the iPad is perfect for it! I hope they'll announce ports of the old titles sooner or later, or even announce a special iPad Heroes!

I had a look after reading your post, and H2 is also available for iPhone (1,59€ here).
Did anyone try it? I think I will get it. Just to be sure

I am just a bit disappointed campaigns are not in...

Yeah I wonder if that's something they can't use due to copyright or whatever? I don't get how this whole thing has come about, but I'm glad it has, and it came out of nowhere!

I have played a bit with H2 on iPhone.
It still is Beta version, but it's really playable, and gives a good result.
The main issue is of course the screen size, and with big fingers it is not always easy to hit where you want.
The battles are not full screen, and that does not help being precise.
However there are some good ideas. The menus are hidden, the town screen is split in 6 "tabs" (1 for status, 2 for buildings, 1 for mage guild, etc.) and some others.
The presentation states you can add maps with iTunes. I did not try that for the moment.

Actually, I think it is worth €1.59. Hoping there will be lots of updates!

It seems to be the exact same thing? I'm guessing no campaign!

This probably isn't legal if you're downloading the graphics, unless it's licensed from Ubi. Especially if they are charging for it.
