I maxed out and had choppy peformance when switching interiors but that was fixed by turning shadows from ultra to high (and tbh there is no difference in shadow quality anyway)

My character in orky armor

Smithing rocks. Or well ****, everything rocks really...

I wanna paralyze my enemies, headshot them from afar, backstab them, fry and shock and freeze them, strike them with enchanted weapons, let them taste awesome poisons, manipulate their minds... and umm... talk them to death.

I wanna do everything FFS.

EDIT:

K so umm... funny bug I got here...

There's this dead Blood Dragon that just keeps following me around.

I first found him when exiting a castle and I was like "ah cool, he must've crashed against the wall and died! THIS GAME IS AWESOME"

Then he fell from the sky when I left a cave. He loves me even in death.

It's getting kinda scary now, he's done it about 4 times

So I played "some" (xD) more and I have started to like the game a lot more because:

* I thought there were only three difficulty settings, so I was playing on the second hardest one and was wondering why in the world the Draugh were two-shooting me. I actually nearly completed the whole dungeon on that setting without a companion because I didn't know you could have companions at that point. >.>

* Thanks to Adrius, I figured out the hotkeys system and now I am swapping spells and weapons like once a minute lol.

* I NEVER use fast travel, breaks my immersion. I walked all the way from Whiterun up to that swampy town where I got turned into a vampire (I don't want to be a vampire ;( ) and then I walked up to Solitude. The game is quite big and a lot of fun to explore.

* I hate that all guards try to kill you if you do like one single error.

* Was Enchanting always like it is in Skyrim? Because the system is a clone of WoWs lol. xD Enchanting works exactly the same in WoW. But I'm not complaining.

* Again, I love the crafting system! Can't wait for those high level armours!

* The huge numbers of quest are really overwhelming me.

* I want my Imperial to get a girlfriend, but it's hard. I guess you need a house first?

also I can't wait untill some kind of world editor is released
I have like a million ideas lol

things I miss from Oblivion.

- Large cities. I loved the Imperial City. Whiterun and other "cities" feel smaller than those in Oblivion.

- Arena! I had a lot of fun in the Obliion arena!

- other non-swedish enviroments lol
I take five steps from my door right now, and I am in southern Skyrim minus the mountains and artificial vistas

I have just installed the game, barely had enough time to see the starting credits but I hope to get a last with the game over the next few months. Glad to hear positive comments about the optimization (hopefully my rig runs the game smoothly, though I do sense some jittery stuff in fog/smoke) and glad to hear that the game is impressive (as I have witnessed from the opening). We'll see where this goes...

P.S. OK, all the lovable european grittiness aside, did you just look at the elves? -facepalm-

OK, just one question - how many of you are NOT rabid The Elder Scrolls fans and are reliable sources of objective judging about the game? I know I'm not and my impressions from Morrowind and Oblivion is that their greatest treat is the landscape (and from what I've seen from Daggerfall, there is even no pretty landscape to behold). Is the game really worth playing from a regular RPG fan standpoint?

My earlier experience with TES games is a bit of Oblivion, which I've never managed to complete half of. Skyrim is, compared to my little experience of Oblivion, an immense improvement. The skill system is completely new and pretty good, the combat system is smooth, the level up system is better. It's a really good game, and would be even if it wasn't an Elder Scrolls game.

I was a rabid hater of Oblivion even though I spent lots on it I dunno how it will go but I can say it is definitely an improvement. I see a lot of similarities to Gothic series now for some reason.

That said, I am experiencing the usual turn-down by the game. Every single game newer than 2010 makes my gfx card go bonkers. I dunno why but every time I play it will randomly crash the nvidia kernel and in the short run crash the whole system completely. This held me off from playing Witcher and H6, but I hope I find a fix to play Skyrim...

One question: level progression. They seem to get up pretty fast. So, knowing the game's level progression was obnoxiously fast in Oblivion and the critters would get tough if you didnt max out, do I expect the same here? I am sure to try and learn the game on med difficulty for the first time around but I still want to know what to expect.

There is level scaling yes.

However dungeons determine your level when you enter them, so if you enter a dungeon as a level 6 then return when your level 15 the critters should still be scaled to level 6

It's way less noticeable to say the least. The level scaling works really well imo.

Ah I love how the miscellaneous quests can lead into major ones... I just figured "what the hell" and helped a guy out and now I'm involved in some Clavicus Vile plot...

They pay way more respect to their lore than earlier as well I must say, as someone who reads the UESP religiously it's all a big treat

I just spent half an hour playing with a few bandits, moving or jumping while sneaking to make them look for me, and then wait for them to stop and then repeat. Was hilarious to see them run around like confused chickens. And I earned 30 levels in stealth thanks to it.

I find it quite annoying that I can't make out whether people moving on the roads are hostile or not (or in the mountains for that matter) I came to the conclusion that they are always bandits, but I ended up ambushing an imperial patrol .

Look at their face expressions, if they look mad, you should probably kill them. (unless it's a guard envoy transporting a prisoner, they killed me when I took them for bandits, going around carrying weapons and all)

I always kill them with the exception when they are to powerfull for me, then they have the permission for passing.

Is the leveling system competent in Skyrim?

When I played Oblivion and was designing my class, I picked skills that I planned on using a lot... you know... like a sane person would, and I ended up getting garbage stat gains each level because of it because of how the leveling system works. I was so disgusted with it that I permanently stopped playing. (I know how to get good stat gains in Oblivion, but it is so incredibly moronic imo that I have to intentionally use random skills for the respective stat). I cannot understate how much I hated it. It was literally the worst leveling system in any game I have ever seen, ever.
