Quote:
* New combat system

One of the most boring parts in oblivion was actually the battles, Okay they were not boring but they were dull. So it definitely needs a new system. I like your ideas Adrius, hard to say if they would be the best but they are interesting and way better then what they had in Oblivion.
Something I want them to focus is how the player moves. I loved it in Dark Messiah that your character was so agile that you as the player could dodge an attack in the last minute. You could move around your opponent and strike at his weak point where he wasn't prepared. This and the need for fast reacting like the ones you mentioned really should be implemented in Skyrim. Magic as well should get a proper face lift, it should be fast and dangerous and easily combined with combat moves.

Quote:
* More weapon types

yes, Yes!, YES!!! Maybe the same diversity like they have in Diablo II
And I agree on the black powder, bombs with alchemy would be great.

Quote:
* Survival system

Yes, me want!

Quote:
* More background story for your character

Agreed, Me don't like being a lifeless frame

Quote:
* The animations Betheseda...

Yup, especially since they need to fix the combat moves anyway.

Quote:
* XP system > use-it-to-level-it-system

I can see your reasoning, But I disagree. the "use-it-to-level-it-system" was really cool in my opinion, but it was really flawed ofc. So there was this great mod that fixed that called, Realistic Leveling. With that mod you level-up as usual but you don't get to assign any attribute points. Instead you gain attributes passivly as you increase in your skills. Making it a lot more "realistic" and fun to play, since you have to use to things you wish to get better at.
For example if you wish to be good at using a über mace, well then you just have to train.
But this is just what I want, to me Oblivion was unique since it didn't have experience. However I'm pretty sure there will be mods for either of us

Quote:
* Non-leveled enemy system

Agreed, I want to be peasant weak in the beginning and Titan Strong towards the end. And want feel the fear and the reward if I managed to kill or sneak past a a "high-level" enemy, and I want to dominate the lower enemies when I reach awesomeness.

Another thing I want the to have is improved sneaking, things like footwear should effect it more. Sounds generally should make a bigger difference, for example it should be easier sneaking past a NPC who is distracted by other sounds then a guard sitting alone in a quiet room. The noise you make should also be effected by the kind of floor/ground you are on.

Killing and Murder should be harder as well. you shouldn't easily be able to kill a person in a room if other people are present, even if you happen to be "hidden"...

And the ways that you learns spells should be increased, buying is boring

I heard it will run RAGE-engine, so at the least the GFX won't be really really bad.

Nah, it's not running RAGE, it's running something else. id tech 5 isn't suited to a game like TES/Fallout.

As long as it isn't buggy as sh*t, I don't want a game where enemies getting stuck in the walls and etc.

Anyways a new combat system is really the most IMPORTANT thing they need to fix, battles is all about enjoyment and fun, simply to have a good time

Some new information, new mechanics and general improvements. A very interesting read.
The Technology Behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I really like this:
Quote:
Characters now transition more realistically between walking, jogging, and running, and the increased nuance between animations has allowed Bethesda to better balance the combat in both first- and third-person perspective by adjusting the timing values for swings and blocks depending on your perspective.

and this:
Quote:
In Skyrim, if you kill a shop owner who had a few quests to offer if you spend the time to get to know him, his sister may take over the shop and offer the quest that was formerly ascribed to him.
[...]
Tread lightly though, because she's not oblivious to your dastardly actions. She will still recognize you killed her brother and perhaps even try to exact revenge later in the game.

Sounds quite awesome, I liked how they talked about the NPCs doing daily tasks and the like. Sounds quite immersive

Can't wait to see how this new engine draws up long-distance enviroments. Staring over impressive landscapes was one of the highlights of Oblivion for me

EDIT: I hope they add locational damage btw. If you aren't wearing a helmet then that sword should hurt you pretty badly.

It would also make assassination awesomer, aiming for weak parts and stuff... yeah.

Please remember what they promsed for Oblivion, they promised non-scripted NPC talking and stuff. What happened? Scripted scheduales.
Don't but their promises, pirat it, test it, and then buy if its actually good.

What I miss on most games are no hit points, but simply one hit kills ... dismembering, etc...

When you play as an assassin it would be great fun being able to sneak up on an opponent and simply kill that person with a stab in the neck or something. It would make it harder playing too, suddenly your character loses an arm. Too bad, now you're an armless hero but you could get yourself a hook!

I think it would enchance gameplay alot at least!

Haha I can agree with that. I think they should have 2 levels of hardcore play:
The first on is that you must eat, drink, sleep and whatever...
The second level of hardcore is that you like insta-die when you get hit, or become mutilated when taking damage, just like you described...

Please don't name you're character Captain Hook and do this. I would have to come and attack you or something.

But, judging on the improvements they've made ten months before its release, I'm inclined to agree with GI's opinion.

I can't wait to slaughter families at a time and see how many relatives come attack me.

You've got a lot of nerve showing your face around here after killing my brother! (this merchant doesn't like you and prices are 15% higher)
[Do you have any quests for me?]
My family heirloom ring was stolen yesterday, can you help me find it?
[Sure]
Alright, I'll mark it on your map.
*you take the ring to her*
Thank you so much, here, have this gold as a reward.
[Do you have any other quests for me?]
Not right now but I heard blabla main npc blabla storyline hint.
[I'll be going now.]
*you leave the shop*

*she of course never tries to exact revenge of any kind due to development deadlines*

10 bucks says that's the revolutionary NPC system you'll be paying for.

Xerox' brain is programmed to WoW, things that don't involve XP and hotkey-spamming seem alien and confusing

Oblivion had an at least 30 minute long tutorial at the start that was actually quite exciting (well, the first 20 times you played through it at least)
