Trains, england and the snow

Bloody typical!

Absolutely bloody typical!

The english are all too easy to make an excuse to get off work at other peoples expenses, or at least delay them until the point of insanity.

Today, I head home from my lovely flat at university that has no heating, to spend christmas with friends and family back home. I live in the furthest backend of wales, that's arduous to get even on a good day. It takes 6 and a half hours on the train, changing, rechanging, waiting around at stations for god knows how long.

But now the snow has come down. In wales it's bad, lectures and seminars were cancelled, the busses couldn't get up the hill to university. Thank whatever ex-terristrial egregore exists for my snowboots, as I was actually able to get to places. It was almost 6", and considering that 8 out of 10 christmasses had no snow, that's alot.

England as had about 1" of new snow that they have probably cleared... and guess which member of the united kingdom is cancelling and delaying trains.

bah, i'm off to get my bottle of rum to pack. If I am going to deal with this, I intend to be in the right frame of mind.

"on the seventh day of christmas, my true love gave to me,
7 students packing
6 inches of snow falling
5 minutes of warmth!
4 broken heaters
3 delayed trains,
2 essays in
and christmas away from university!"

happy holidays, everyone.

I have to make an update to the tune, after having arrived back home.

"on the tenth day of christmas, network rail gave to me...
10 hours of travel
9 singalongs
8 canceled lectures
7 students packing
6 inches of snow falling
5 Minutes of warmth!
4 broken heaters
3 delayed trains
2 essays in
and christmas at home with my family."

I just hope that it's gonna be alright (not much snow that is) on the 30th as my girlfriend has to go to Heathrow and onto a plane to Australia.

Same here in Denmark, we had snowfall (again) the last couple of days, and public transportation is an absolute nightmare. Fortunately, I was not going very long, and still it took me the better part of an hour, which is more than it would have taken me on foot on a day of normal whether.

I envy you guys your snow!
We have cold (relatively speaking, I'm sure ) but no snow, which is the worst. Frosted-over dirt is just depressing.

Everything stops for snow, we can't cope with it. Apparently it's the wrong kind it's too wet lol. In Gloucester its not snow its ice and really bad under foot and on some roads.
Was fun earlier in the year but then after a while even the children had enough, employers were docking peoples wages cos they couldn't get in was terrible.

...you don't have any heat?

You should scrap together some funds and get an electric space heater to keep near your bed or something. Prostitute yourself for money. Even if you're piled up in sleeping bags to stay physically warm, sleeping in below-freezing air isn't good for you brah.

Prostitute yourself for money WTF no I work in a respectable job using my brain to earn money don't know about everyone else. Are you buying drinks for everyone again BB and taste testing them all lol.
Flipping weather got my Asda delivery cancelled unless I could go get it myself, well if that was the case I wouldn't have paid for delivery in the first place ffs. So no food for kids over Christmas lol.

thanks for the concern, blizz.

we've complained to the appropriate people, and they promised to have it fixed by the time we get back...

that means we will be getting back into a cold house when we return to university, but probably won't care, because we will be collectively smashed due to excess drinking before revision week.

Alcohol increases blood flow to the extremities while decreasing it to the torso, providing the illusion of warmth. I know this because I'm experiencing it right now.
