Plot Question

I'm just wondering is there any connection between the stories in Heroes IV and V,and i can't quite understand one thing-Are there many world in Heroes, for example DO every Heroes part(I-V) have it's own world? And I would like to see timeline of the events of the games.I'm just interested.

The series was rebooted with the 5th title, however heroes used to jump from continent to continent with each installment. However the lore remained until H5 where it was retconned.

Will be back to clarify a few things unless cepheus beats me to it

Heroes 1 does not have much of a story, it is a tale of conquest between the knights, barbarians, sorceresses and warlocks in the newfound lands of Enroth.

In heroes 2 deals with the passing of king Ironfist and the succession wars for the throne. You may choose the side of Roland the good son or Archibald the 'evil' one, you can even choose to switch sides during the campaign missions.

Heroes 3 takes part after the succession wars in a new continent, Antagarich. Roland's wife queen Catherine returns to protect her homeland against the combined invasion of the Nighon overlords and the Kreegans. During that time there are border wars between the swamp and stronghold faction and necromancers seize the opportunity to invade Erathia(human capitol) by using the reanimated king Gryphonheart(Catherine's father) to lead their armies.

In the shadow of death expansion we learn of the necromancer Sandro's the rise to power and how he tricked four heroes to gather the pieces of the two ultimate artifacts that gave him immense power. Eventually the four heroes, Gelu a half-Vori elf ranger, Gem a sorceress from Enroth, Crag Hack and Yog the barbarians baned together to stop him. When his plan failed he staged the events that led to the death of king Gryphonheart and the events of the original H3 campaign.

Armageddon's blade campaign is placed after original campaign and deals with the demonic invasion of the Kreegans after the death of Xenofex.

Between H3 and 4 there lies a story from heroes chronicles, the sword of frost. It explains how we came to the events shown in the H4 intro.

Heroes 4 following the destruction of the old world focuses on what happens to the factions that move through portals to the land of Axeoth. The campaigns of the expansions are rather unrelated.

And here is the lore of heroes 5. A world set apart from the old universe with its own mythology and customs, Ubisoft's reboot of the series.

I am not entirely sure what's with the addon story

Favourite game.. Right now I would say H5 but only because I've played the rest too much. H3 was definitely more aethetically pleasing, had better taste, was fuller, had smart campaigns and storyline and wasn't as random as H5 is. However the latter grew on me because of its tactical depth and new features, it really added a lot of depth to the series. H2 is close after them, not as deep but addictive as hell

Actually I plan to write a review on the evolution of the series one of these days. Unless something else comes up.

well im new to the community actually and i really like it,i liked H5 but the campaigns were predictable,in fact i didn;t play heroes III very much, maybe it's because the first game i played from the series was Heroes IV,really liked the plot of the original Heroes IV,the expansions were poor, but yeah i will say that my favourite is the fourth game.

If you make a review, write me a massege i will be glad to see it.

The 4th game had incredible quality when it came to storytelling. Gauldoth, Tawni Balfour, Emilia, Elwin, how can you not love those campaigns H5 campaigns sorely missed the text boxes and a more personal touch that was present in previous games. It felt more like an impersonal epic, more about the events than the characters. However the campaigns in tribes of the east were surprisingly good and fun to play.

Sure, will do.

For the time being you could check this. It's from my earlier days and more of an attempt at humour than an actual series review but you should recognize a few things

Everything Elvin said is correct. The Heroes IV expansion campaigns are indeed set on Axeoth despite the non-existence of any story:

The Gathering Storm:
"CV: The Gathering Storm's campaigns can be placed anywhere along the timeline, as they are independent of storylines that have been previously mentioned. The second expansion's campaigns will take place after the events of The Gathering Storm, though in a different part of the world."

Winds of War:
"The story-driven campaigns take place in Channon, a large kingdom on Axeoth's northern continent that has come under attack by no fewer than five invading armies."

Also, if you're holding out a lot of hope for Ashan not actually being a full reboot, take special note of this:

Quote:
A long time ago, on the other side of the Void, legendary heroes lived numerous extraordinary adventures. Let’s remember some of them...

If you want some sort of timeline for the Might and Magic storyline prior to 2006, you can run with this, but be warned that it's totally incomplete and there are several errors in places. I hope to cut out the crap and fix it up so it's totally accurate, possibly sometime during the Christmas break.

Oh wow, I knew they had the past heroes on their FB page, but I never noticed the "on the other side of the Void" text. Interesting.

This gives me a little more hope that the old M&M universe isn't completely dead, as unlikely as it seems. Hopefully they do pull some of the old classic heroes (Crag Hack and Sandro in particular) into Ashan! Any kind of nod towards the old world would be great, Ashan is fine, but I miss Antagarich.
