so this are the Epic Heroes of our beloved series!!!
i will post 9 most notable Heroes per faction..
please choose your two favourite heroes amongst each faction..

NECROPOLIS
SANDRO - a clear decision!!!
GAUDLOTH HALF-DEAD - not so clear, he was in deep competition with markal and Lord Haardt
HAVEN
Oooh, that was a hard one! ...I picked Lysander and Godric, that DAMN allways-good-doers out for clichèness, and Isabel both for her stupidness, her stubbornness and her early "I save the world just to be with my love" attitude^^ Didn't take Alaric and Freyda in because I know them not enough!
Leaving me with Roland, Archie, Catherine and Sir Christian, I chose Catherine and Sir Christian, one of my favorite Knights of H3, though I cannot even say why exactly

then I had a hard choice between Gem and Ivor, but went for Ivor *grin*

I liked some non campaign heroes better because of their special abilities such as H5 Fortress' Ebba and H5 Academy's Jhora. It's too bad and unfair that not all of them are included.
Shouldn't you include the 4 generals of HoMM1?
Alamar and Morglin Ironfist especially are very important if you ask me.
Anyway as it stands now...

Wow, this contest is even more random than the other similar "favourite something" contests. Archibald Ironfist is a Necropolis hero, one of the most important characters for this faction - why is he placed in the Castle/Haven list? And why isn't Vidomina included among the Necromancers? Where is Alamar? Ayden? The overpowered Sir Mulich? And so on...

It doesn't matter because Sandro is the most epic hero ther is.

Yeah Archibald was never a Castle hero. He was a Warlock in Heroes II and a Necromancer from then onwards.

Ok here's my list then.
Necropolis:
Sandro, cause he's Sandro.
&
Arantir, because Arantir has style and is a calm calculating type of hero.
Castle/Haven:
Alaric, cause he is a pretty capable commander, despite being an overzealous, deluded whackjob.
&
Sir Christian, because the rest is to boring. And because Archibald is a warlock actually. Like Cepheus pointed out.
Stronghold:
Crag Hack, cause he is Crag Hack.
&
Quroq, cause he is a selfcentered, demagoge, ruthless conquerer and we need more of thems.
Rampart/Preserve/Sylvan:
Realy can't tell. I almost never play it and therefore have no decent idea of these peoples.
Tower/Academy:
Solymr, again, just cause.
&
Fafner, because he's a semi-human/genie-thing and that's cool. And the others were a poor alternative.
Dungeon:
Darkstorm & Dace, cause we need more Minotaurs and they are rightfully the coolest of the bunch.
Inferno:
This is hard, cause they are all pretty meh. But I've played it enough to make a choice.
Xyron, cause he ain't that bad.
&
Cahl, cause he is the least meh of the rest.
Realy missed Ignatius here, but then again he switched sides in HoMMIV.
Fortress:
Bron, cause he's pretty cool.
&
Rolf, because he is a pure machiavellist and that's rare. Especially with Dwarves.
