If you plan to do complex maps, then you need to activate the map editor patch (Grayface). Otherwise, no need.

1.09 is an additional objects patch made 2 years ago, again you may use it if you are going to do maps and need more objects. Few actual maps use it, 10 at max. You can  install it if you want in a different WoG folder, you can have more than one and use it accordingly.

Oh, truly forgotten. I should fix the installer to add (not replace) these files in future. Thanks.

I have done that and merged era 1.91 into installer (also removed the russian sptraits). Also updated the HD patch to version 2.98f, added the revised help files and removed some old ones. The WoG text files are now packed into h3wog.lod. I didn't have time to test if everything works exactly as I wanted (I tested only the fix for Armageddon's blade files). I'd be glad if someone tested and reported. If it's okay, you can add it to WoG archive. Download WoG3.58_plus_Era1.91

If this is the last WoG version, maybe we could also release some new objects with it, specially Astaroth ones. We still use the objects made in 2003, they get old now. Some 20-30 new objects hand selected will be a nice addition IMO

I installed the file on a clean Heroes3 complete and got a couple errors and those 4 ab files in data still got overwritten but this time with 0 kb files.  All my WoG or Era.exe's to start H3 turned up the below error as well even after copying the correct AB files.  It's looking for a Zcrbank.txt resource file.

First pic I'm not sure it's a problem just thought I'd post it since it says can't find a batch file right after installing WoG while the HD application loads on top.

This is the error I get trying to launch Heroes 3 with either the Era or Wog exe's.  Heroes3.exe and Heroes3HD.exe works.

It seems these 36 files didn't get copied into the Data folder for some reason in this install.

Hope this helps..  Thanks for effort in updating it.

I think it would really be worth doing such a semi-official update, not just with Astaroth's objects but especially also in light of Fnord's new scripts having emerged. That's partially why I brought up the subject of the stolen Disciples objects, so we might be able to cobble out a "cleaner" version which removes and replaces these with original work. Will be on hand to help if anyone wants to take the initiative.

Adding new objects is easy, adding 16 new scripts is hard. They should be tested in game by several persons, in all situations, then someone needs to modify ERM help for claimed variables, then one needs to modify wog settings, so they show in a specific panel. It may take months, who's gonna do it...

True. I would be happy to help with testing, but I don't have any sort of aptitude for ERM so it would probably take a larger effort.

Where is the phantom 3.59/CoreWoG/whatever team now, in any case? Anybody here happen to be acquainted with them or aware whether or not they're alive? Are they just meandering around in stagnation? Just curious and not condemning them in any way, as I know that feeling.

Well, if they were really working on something, the first step would have been to contact previous members (like Fnord for example) and ask if any scripts left. Considering they never did it, I think it is safe to say is plain frozen. But I will be glad to be wrong.

Totally frozen.

h3wog.lod - should be h3wog.pak to run the solitaire package.

Renaming it to h3wog.pac works good.

The problem with the AB fix is that Data should be place in front of those 4 lines checking to see if the 4 files exist.  As it is now it checks your root heroes directory and since they didn't exist there it got replaced with the 0 kb files.  i.e.

if not exist data\h3ab_ahd.vid move h3blade_FIX\h3ab_ahd.vid data\h3ab_ahd.vid

I mean that it should be renamed to *.pac after installation in order to be loaded by Era 1.9+.

Okay.. It seems that I screwed this setup thing somewhere. I'll look into it tomorrow. The script for adding AB files instead of replacing them worked for me... Also I have no idea why does h3wog.lod need to be renamed h3wog.pak.

I found there is a conflict with Script70 with Era 1.91.  If I disable the Death Chamber I don't get the message every turn.  I noticed that it's part of the Fixscripts.bat file that runs but it doesn't seem to work I guess.

If I leave the script active, I keep getting a message "Upon defeating the Undead King you receive" and it says I get the gold and ghosts like I would if I defeated him but I get it at the beginning of every turn almost from start of game.  I don't actually receive the stuff it says though it's just a popup nearly every turn.

The autosave 1 - 7.end is not working and when I press S it brings up the save screen like in original heroes.  The 1.81 would do an automatic save to day of week.gmx or whatever the ext is.  The quicksave of F5 though still works.

Augh... I was in a hurry while writing that script so I forgot so add the data\ in front.

What do you mean?  I tried renaming it to h3wog.pak and running the install but nothing changed as far as getting those files to be placed into the data directory.

Rename the lod file to get exe, not the setup working.

The fixscripts.bat just replaces a lot of asterisks to other characters in these scripts to speed up their interpretation (since ERM parser will be called when an asterisk is found and it's a large piece of code which, in this case would do nothing useful).

It seems these 36 files didn't get copied into the Data folder for some reason in this install.

I packed them into h3wog.lod file to take less space and to make data folder not look like a mess.

EDIT: I fixed the patch for h3blade files, renamed the h3wog.lod and also applied fixscripts.bat instead of making it run on setup. The  installation file is now 70 megabytes and if I would still need to fix something I'll compress the setup (*.wog) files with higher compression level. Download WoG3.58 plus Era1.91

I do not have enough disk space in my Windows VM for a full clean installation of HoMM III and I'm working on a big thing in my current setup thus I don't want to make backups and try to get everything working later.
However I tried to place some files into a test pak file (Era is supposed to load every pak file from data directory) and it did fail, so it seems that this feature doesn't work. I think I'll wait for 1.92 non-beta version of era and then create a new package.
