Zehir's Fic

The Wizard made a small Arcane crystal in the air and moved over the Phoenix Lady's head. He removed his foot away from her and placed the crystal over her throat.

"Fine, you win. You really do - I don't have any mana - just kill me." She smiled and caught the Arcane crystal with her hand, placing it nearer to her.

"Yes, it's over. You will finally leave us all or I'm going to let everyone know what happened." The Phoenix Lady started laughing hysterically which confused Zehir.

"I don't care about fame anymore. You defeated me fair - finish me." He closed his eyes and lifted the crystal a little in order to cut her throat. "Why don't you kill me with a dagger or something like that?"

"Shut up!" Her throat started bleeding because of the sharp crystal but the cut wasn't enough to harm her much.

"You can't kill me, can you? You still love me, don't you? You don't have the guts to finish me." He kicked her in his anger and broke the crystal into million pieces with which he hit her. But he couldn't do anything more. "Seriously? That's it? Ok, good enough..." She waved her hand and removed the pieces from her body materializing them into a thin crystal rope. "Don't move Zehir, it will only hurt more."

"I was sure that you had some mana left. Fine - you won, catch me. I'm pretty out of mana myself and I don't want to fight you. You are not worth it." She look at him angrily and shot the rope at him, paralyzing him. She opened one of her portals and went near it.

"I need to think a little." She said leaving without an explanation. Zehir removed with ease the rope from himself and looked at the sky. The dice was tossed.

Edit: And yeah, it's really short, I don't have any time.

Edit 2 - So - what's the game plan?

((There we go, done with tests/ major projects for a while, but it's too late for Findan's long (and interesting) chapter, so I'm going to have to do Derelin's boring one...))

Derelin

The dark cities had been quiet as the two had passed through. In fact, they hadn't passed a single living thing on the way to the capitol. What they found there was a blockade.

The minotaurs had rebelled.

There were sounds of conflict coming from the right side of the temple walls, and trails of bodies of both elves and minotaurs leading up and down the streets. As far as Derelin and Ghoti could tell, none of the dark elves who had been in the city had been spared as the slave rebellion had swept through the city, as evidenced by the dismembered soldiers, civilians and children scattered along the ditches. A few smouldering and broken houses attested to how long the fight had been going... As did the feted smell of rotten corpses. The dark elves had been fighting their enemy for at least two weeks, and both armies had been whittled down tremendously. The elves had doled themselves up in their last and most powerful stronghold, the High Temple. The remaining minotaur army, which numbered upwards of ten thousand, was camped around it, firing any kind of projectiles that they could to try and bring down the walls or the gate. So far, the only thing they had to show for their efforts was a mass-grave like pile of corpses strewn in front of said gate and walls. And a single, ever widening crack in the gate's magically enhanced wood.

This is where the two heroes were going to.

"Are you sure, grey skin?" Gotai asked his traveling companion carefully. "All of my warchiefs and Clan leaders would have run at these great armies, if they was only two."

"I'm sure, my courageous friend. If we don't get the answers that I seek, then it won't matter if we live or die here." Derelin reminded the clan chief. "Though... I do not ask you to throw your life away."

Ghotai gave him a sidelong glance, drawing in a deep breath before bellowing a war cry. "It is better to die here with a valiant warrior such as yourself then it is to die a coward's death!" The orc yelled. "Come! To battle! To death! To victory!"

"Alright then," Derelin muttered as some minotaurs turned to see what the disturbance was. "Just stay behind me..." Blood from the battle rose up to surround him in a basket-like shell, "But not too close."

Gotai picked up two discarded minotaur axes and nodded, "We go." Both of them ran into the minotaur army, but didn't attack the rebels. The few stolen moments they would get of surprise would be more valuable than the ability to cut down ten or twenty of this hoard's thousands. As it was, the pair was able to sneak almost half way through the tightly packed minotaurs before one tripped over its hooves while pressing the others in the crowd towards the gates. While it was picking itself up, it noticed Derelin and lowed, "Dark elf!" The minotaurs around stopped and turned to look at him, while Gotai planted his axe in the minotaur's head.

Then the others spotted Derelin.

The dark elf recovered first, sending spears of solidified blood into the minotaurs closest to them. Gotai cried out, bringing his axe heads to bite deeply into the necks of the minotaurs that Derelin had missed, and then froze as the rebelling slaves gave out their war cries. "Run!" Derelin shouted, sending a wave of blood spears into the Minotaur ranks, clearing a short path. Gotai followed, hacking away at the beast-men that came at his ally from behind.

On top of the walls, this disturbance went completely unnoticed as a section of the wall crumbled under the constant trebuchet barrage. Minotaurs swarmed the opening, slowed by the walls of crossbow bolts, energy blasts and fortifications of their enemies, yes, but for every minotaur that fell, seven took his place. The lizard riders attacked as well, their mounts landing on and biting into the slaves while their riders stabbed all around them with the precision of a lifetime's worth of training. For a while, this held off the advance and an elf noticed the disturbance of bodies being flung through the air at awkward angles with little lines of red whipping all around them before blasts of darkness cut through the rider's ranks.

A single minotaur, just outside of the range of the dark elven crossbows, was chanting in its guttural language. It's purple flesh was covered by a black, hooded cloak, with only the snout exposed. It wore many rings of gold, and bore a massive silver staff, which it pointed at the dark rider's rapidly thinning ranks. The lizards broke and ran back to the safety the breached walls could provide. Once again the minotaur horde surged forward, ignoring its casualties and killing its own members who stumbled in the rush to draw their "master's" blood. Suddenly the bolts stopped raining as the assassins and scouts ran out of ammunition. They pulled out their knives as the first minotaurs reached the front lines. Hundreds filled the bowl-like gap left by the elves and more were pouring in...

When the two champions arrived. A wall of blood swept forward, cutting the minotaurs behind the walls off from their reinforcements. Boulders started to rain down on the new walls, and the fortifications shattered. Minotaurs began to rush forward again as Derelin positioned himself in the center of the gap. "Make sure none of them stab me in the back, alright?" the dark elf asked his friend.

"They will not pass the Khan's axe, friend." Gotai assured him noticing for the first time how much Derelin was bleeding from various wounds already. But no blade touched him. How is there so much harm? The orc chief wondered.

He didn't have time to wonder for very long, as the minotaurs behind the wall realized that without a steady supply of reinforcements, they could not overwhelm the defenders. the rebelling slaves turned about face, fighting their way back through the dark elven ranks to get at Derelin. Gotai stood in their way, swinging as fast and hard as he could, but there were too many of the renegade slaves for him alone.

Suddenly, minotaurs were being snatched up by many draconic heads and thrown into the air, away from him and Derelin. With a hiss, the Hydras and remaining lizard raiders joined the charge. The last of the encroaching minotaurs died, giving Gotai and the elves time to rest. Derelin didn't get this luxury. for an hour, the blood knight sent an ever growing wave of sharp, hardened blood into the minotaur ranks, blocking the spells from the minotaur priest and keeping the breach clear.

And then he collapsed. Wounds caused by the ravages of his own magic and reopened wounds from his fight with the phoenix lady criss-crossed Derelin's entire body. The minotaur priest of Malassa sensed this temporary weakness, and began to chant his most powerful spell, while his army advanced once again...

The priest stopped chanting as five razor thin shards of blood stabbed into him, killing him instantly. A thin line of blood from Derelin to the priest showed who was responsible.

For an instant, the minotaurs stared in shock, uncertain what they should do with their leader dead. Derelin made their choice easier by raising his right hand and sending another wave of blood into their ranks. The minotaurs ran.

Derelin looked up as a matriarch walked calmly to his side. "Bring me everything you have on the phoenix lady." He whispered before the world faded to black.

When Derelin awoke, he was in a different cave.

"We abandoned the temple because the minotaurs came back," a witch told him. "Here, drink this."

Derelin realized that she was holding a cup of piping hot tea mixed with some kind of herb. It smelled awful, and to be honest, the taste was just farther down the "Bad" root.

"Trust me, you'll feel much better in three days-"

"I'm leaving tomorrow with whatever texts you can give me on the Phoenix lady," he told the doctor. "Where are they?"

"Leave? Tomorrow? Impossible, you shouldn't even be able to... Stand..." She stared in awe as Derelin not only stood shakily, but also took two steps towards her. He collapsed, weak and drugged... Falling into a deep sleep...

((Alright, so I lied, it's interesting. Did not originally plan to have the minotaurs rebel, but since the world is going to hell in a hand basket, I decided that one more variable couldn't hurt. ))

Well, we're nearing the final confrontation now, right?  Where does Isabel need to be directed?

Findan

Findan walked into the the heart of the undead alone, stolen vampire armor resting on him regally and cape billowing in the wind. His dead eye fixed on any undead who would challenge his right to be there, glaring and sneering down any vampire or litch who stood in his path. When they didn't move, as he and the others had expected, Findan told them, "Asha bids me send a message to Markal... I will not disappoint her. I hope that you will not either." Most promptly moved at that point, but those that didn't had a fate befall them that should have drawn suspicion. Armageddon's blade flashed out before any could catch more than a glimpse of the blade, and the undead struck by it were instantly eradicated. Each time Findan muttered, "Asha's chosen will not be waylaid by her ignorant children. Move!" Each time, a glint of cruelness and hatred so deep that it would make demons cower flashed through his eyes and the undead parted as fast as their shuffling, crumbling bodies could move.

Each time Armageddon's blade laughed through its bearers mind, bloodlust barely contained.

Hunger yawning so deep, hatered and temptation that Findan ached to fall to, madness, pain and suffering that refused to back away... but he held on to the scraps of his sanity that remained. His life depended on it.

How long can I last? How long?

"Not much longer. Give in... Unleash me! Let us destroy this world!" Findan's soul felt the weight of all the world's sins pressing down on him, all the sorrow... "what was the point of it, after all? Why should he fight to stay alive? Why did any of the others matter?"

Findan screamed back, Because there is no way I can betray them! Cool laughter overpowered his protests as if they were the cry of an ignorant child. Findan no longer took to warning the undead who got in his way to move. No matter what they were, eradication was the only result of hampering his mission. Undead began to avoid him. In his step, even those who had long left emotion behind on their quest for immortality, the husks of the long dead, felt terror in his step. And all that time, the madness spread. He was beginning to forget what time it was...

Wake up, damn you! You can't fail on them... You can't fail on her...

The laughter drown his mind again, the little scrap of sanity found itself struggling to stay afloat in a sea of madness. The blade cried, "You will fail!" the blade's laughter followed him... followed the death march. Crying out in the victory that was fast approaching.

Lethos gestured for the others to shut up. Wyngaal quickly closed his mouth, this ambush was more important than any petty argument with Ylaya. He could not afford to mess up this plan, they had planned too long, sacrificed too much to allow anything to stop them.

Findan's charge had been to destroy Markal's center of power. To do that, they had to scatter the core of his necromancer elites. The ambush had been set up. Wyngaal, as Micheal, had scouted the movements of the undead from a safe distance

((More tomorrow.))

Revived.

Hello, guys. For those of you who don't know what this is about - check the first page. This is a writing game and we used to make a story with the characters from Heroes V campaigns. The story, sadly, wasn't finished. So I'm thinking... Let's finish it! I myself don't remember it quite well so I have to read it again. Since I don't have the time now, how about everyone who wants to participate again or to try for a first time read what story we have made? I'll give time until late December if anyone wants to participate. If not, well, I guess the story will be left unfinished.
