* Will the creature lineups of H6 remain mostly race-based (like in H5) or will they be based around a common theme (like in H1-4)?

Heroes VI is more balanced about this. You’'ll get a bit of both; some race-based creatures and some about the theme.

Where did you get that from?

It's an assumption I also got. Simply because of the background of the screenshot of Mother Namtaru. Seems like a Naga's sort of dungeon...

Well, comparing the 5th faction with the human dominated Haven, the racial aspect is a bit weak imo.

Well, to be perfectly honest I can´t remember i think it was a mix of some text about Svetlana and how she travels to the Pao Islands (or such) to release mother namtaru before she travels back and takes command of the duchy after her brothers death and that picture with the avatar standing in front of a big medusa face. And of course the leaked factions artworks.

It seemed logical that the naga had something to do with that, and then when the orcs showed up not only as a faction but with the pao islands as their homeland it made the nagas role in the upcoming storyline a bit clearer.

Can´t remember where i read that text about Svetlana though...i just roamed around the internet looking for ashan history and lore

Edit

I found it, it was on the Might and Magic Wiki referring to an facebook update with Svetlanas "bio":

“I am Sveltana, Slava's aunt. I left our home to dedicate my life to the worship of Asha, the Death Goddess. Once celebrated as the “flower of the north”, I am now justly feared and called Outcast, Heretic, Necromancer…”

Daughter of the Griffin duke, whose father had been hoping for a son, Sveltana initially, bore the weight of being an only child – and the wrong one. At the age of fifteen her brother Pavel was born, and she was quickly ignored as he was named heir.

Perfectly content with the turn of events, she left to study the nature of Spirit World first with the Angels and then with the Wizards of the Seven Cities. Once there, she excelled in her research and soon came under the tutelage of the Necromancer Aguirre.

Already distant from her family, Sveltana decided to join the fledgling cult of the Spider Goddess, and she became Aguirre's assistant and right hand. She traveled with her master to the Naga islands of the Jade Sea in order to free the Mother Namtaru, a powerful aspect of the Spider Goddess.

Aguirre was killed on the expedition and Sveltana brought the entity back to the Seven Cities alone, thus becoming a living legend among her fellow Necromancers. She did not have much time to enjoy her new status, however, as soon after her triumphant return she had to run back home to help Pavel repel a demon outburst.

Sadly, she was too late to save her brother. Instead Sveltana became regent of the Griffin Duchy, until the coming of age of her nephew Slava, Pavel’s only son.

Easy, the human/zebra species became extinct and the orcs had to use the orc/horse ones in H5

There! Easly solved by logic and creative thinking, thanks Elvin.

Also my input would be. The female criminals hybridized with zebros got injected with demon blood, ergo thats why they got those horns

Actually, the sad thing is that Cepheus and, according to what he wrote in the discussion thread, a (larger?) part of the other insiders agreed with us that the Spring Spirit would be better left out - and still UbiHole didn't listen.

It's very unfair to say that they didn't listen or are ignoring us, although I understand how this might appear to be the case based on the info released publicly. I would replace the Spring Spirit, but it really is the only unit I'd desperately wish to change in H6. Also I'm posting this opinion as any old fan just like you, not trying to drum up a legion of support or anything.

But as you can understand, it would probably be better for us not to comment in too much detail on the faction at all until it's more "official".

Quote:
I think Cepheus would prefer the snow/ice maiden be left out actually. Not everyone likes the maiden more, you know. Cepheus is of course welcome to correct me if I'm mistaken; I'm not trying to put words into his mouth.

No, I'd like the Ice Maiden to remain - though I did agree initially that it could be a bit confused in the jungle, I didn't know there was snow in the game then either.

Quote:
So, you Cepheus, as an insider can tell us. Is this the final artwork for the spring spirit? Have you seen the in-game model? Its animation and sounds? Have you play-tested it? Do you know its new name and the story behind it? Is it anything like the Blazing Glory and/or the Snow Maiden?

There is a very specific reason I would like to see the Spring Spirit replaced which transcends all of these questions, but naturally I can't tell you what it is yet.

What are you all having with this NAGA faction and medusa being a female naga, no one is a naga except the wave warrior / tide warrior if you take it this way. If you want to take the reality way, and religious way the naga is the devil itself living in the 7th and the deepest hell, from how a profane god believing culture says. There are 7 heavens and 7 hells, the 1st heaven is this earth we live on atm, 6 are above us, the the 7 hells are below the earth, and on the one at the bottom the snake people live in, also called the naga. Sometimes the word naga is also used generically to mean "snake". So everything part something else and part snake can be called naga then.

As i said in the discussion thread, I believe the coral maiden(medusa) is the female Naga. And the snakes in her hair is her offsprings. It all makes so much scene...

Never heard that version of Naga before.

Anyways for some reason I can't see any of the pictures of the allegd Naga creatures, but I am going to guess this is all bad somehow.

I thing the Spring Spirit will have a different feel in-game. I don't think it will be too much alike the Radiant Glory.

Well, they look very similar, but I guess that's the idea behind it. These two units are in fact elementals, messengers of their Dragon God, that's why they are similar. The animation will be probably quite different, the fluent water versus the radiant light.

How do you know that the Spring Spirit is an elemental messenger of Shalassa? There has been no description and even the unit's name has changed.
