I think I'm going to faint!
When I bought a computer magazine yesterday, I started reading the news. And guess what I found. The rumors say, that Fallout 3 will use the engine from Neverwinter Nights! I got shocked. I don't know about the others, but I'd prefer Fallout 3 using the engine used in Fallout 1 and 2. I mean Fallout 1 and 2 were soooo beautiful! I really felt the danger of the wastelands! And I really liked the umm... how should I call it? Maybe "combat system". Yeah, that's ok. I really liked the combat system from F1 and 2. But I don't think it's possible to keep it that way and change the engine to that of Neverwinter Nights. Second thing, this time good. They say that it's going to be released this year, on summer.
I really got shocked about the engine change. And I know this isn't fantasy, but it's RPG. Many of us like RPG even when it's not fantasy. So I think it is ok for me to post this.

...I've never played fallout, but of what I know of it, how in the world is it supposed to work on the engine of Neverwinter nights? Does it mean with some major modifications? ...because they're quite different games...

Fallout 3 is going to be made on the engine from Neverwinter Nights. An absolutely new game but the same world etc.

What`s the engine for Neverwinter Nights? Is it some sort of 3D?
Fallout 1 and 2 are probably best games I ever played so I don`t want some drastic changes...

As far as I know, Neverwinter Nights is pretty much all 3D...3rd person on the ground, back camera thingy or whatever it's called, I think. Of what I've seen, it's pretty nice, so what I'm waiting for is actually Neverwinter nights itself

Hey, I didn't see many of your posts lately, Nebuka! Where have you been? And I'm happy you agree with me! I wish they'd use the old engine and do changes of the sort they did when upgrading from F1 to 2. You know, better trading-with-friends, separate reputations for each town... Remove some useless perks and add new ones... More time required to finish the game (I finished F1 in 3 days!)...

Hey, some people consider some things holy/saint/some_other_word_for_this. Fallout is in my list of those things. I just don't want to lose track of what is happening in New California. I guess I'll have to search for pure history and ignore the game  .

3 days? Pretty impressive Lord Woock. Took me more time everytime I played it ( 5 times till now ).
What I like in Fallout is that when you replaying it the game is different. First time I played it with great strenght and endurance,..., in last game I had intelligence and luck of 10 ( those special encouters are really great ), and charisma of 9. Pretty tough to last till the end but I managed somehow. In first game NPC`s treated me like a dumb ass mostly ( what I was ), but in last game their attitude changed drasticaly-and that is what I really like in Fallout saga. Great diversity every time you play it.
I just wish that I made the Master commit suicide, but I couldn`t-I just had to have Dogmeat by my side...

The last time I was playing Fallout, I had the following stats:
STR: 6
PER: 7
END: 8
INT: 10
AG: 10
CHA: 4
LUC: 2
And later in the game, I improved my endurance at the Brotherhood of Steel.
And these are the most oimportant perks I chose:
1. Awareness
2. Bonus Rate to Fire
I dn't remember any more. Could you please post your stas and perks?

Hey, good news! Fallout 3 will be 3D, but it'll look pretty much like F1 and 2! The new engine is there to make the game load faster and for the game to be easier to make.

Maybe, but that change would ruin the gameplay! Fortunately, the game will still mostly look like the previous games. I would commit suicide if they'd decide to put the combat into real time or use a TPP engine.

I agree LW fallout 1 and 2 is RULING!!!! so if fallout 3 will be so diffrent i will have second tough about buying it

I thought the same about HoMM4 and Worms3. The only difference is that I won't buy those two games at all. Why? Too big changes.

Sorry, Woock.
Until I`ve borrowed Fallout from you, it`s one of the best games I`ve ever played. It`s really COOL. Now I have the intention of finishing F1 and F2. I think there was already too many differences in fallout Tactics. I liked "combat system" as you call it.  Fallout has very many ways of finishing it. I liked boxing in F2. fallout has VERY many details. And almost each of your moves can decided about your future.
