Wow, the election map is identical to the last one.

Not quite.  North Carolina and Indiana fell differently; not sure if Florida has been called yet.

Oh, no.  It's only been about, what?  13 hours since Florida's polls closed?  That's not enough time.

Also, I don't think there's consensus on Virginia yet, but it seems like it might go blue.

It's a bit irrelevant at this point.

I think now would be a good time for the Republican party to sit down and reevaluate their game plan because it isn't working.  It certainly doesn't help when you have idiot who state that a woman's body has means of naturally fighting off rape-impregnation.

What bigots?  The bigots who won't vote for someone because of their skin color or the people who will vote for someone because of their skin color?  Because both parties would do well to purge such individuals.

Look. Who votes for Romney?
Rich people. White men. These groups arenīt growing very fast.

Who votes for Obama?
Women. Young people. Black people. Immigrants. Some of these groups are growing fast.

There you have the problem for the Republicans.

Demographics is a problem for Republicans, but it's not the only problem.

One is that Republicans just don't seem to be as good about getting high voter turnout.  A lot of credit (once again) has to go to what the pundits call "Obama's ground game" - in 2008 Team Obama was fantastic about getting the vote out.  2012 was no different.  From what I can tell, a lot of the (far) right wingers stayed home because Romney just wasn't conservative enough for them.

Another, and isn't a very scientific assessment I admit, is what seems to me is the fact that the Republican party is not nearly as unified as the Democrat party.  Democrats seem to have much higher solidarity.  The GOP has all kinds of disparate groups and factions - Tea Party, Evangelicals, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, Moderates, and the list goes on.  Pick a candidate that thrills one and the others are turned off.  Of course any large party in a two party system will have this to some extent, but in the modern GOP these groups just don't seem to see the bigger picture.

Yes another is that some of them are bat **** insane.  Rape babies are the will of god, females bodies have a way of shutting down pregnancy in 'legitimate rape' situations.  I .. just have no words for how insane some of them sound.

Meh my candidate lost.  I guess I will have to wait for 2016 for Bruce Banner to carry the day.  HULK SMASH PUNY POLITICIANS!

I don't see a reason why the parties keep such nutjobs after they expose their weirdness to the public, however.

Those nutjobs happen to be appealing to a large part of the american voters. If the republican party got rid of the nutjobs then they would risk to lose everything.

Corporations may not be people but politicians are. Meaning that the people are not that much better than the politicians and politicians are not a different species.

The problem is that if the nutjob was elected already into the party as part of a primary, the party is kind of stuck with them.

Of course there are other serious issues as well.

I remember in 2004 Kerry got a chunk of the Libertarian vote because the social conservatism combined with massive debt spending pushed them away. Wasn't enough to save Democrat Romney of course.

Most people live in a bubble where they get a luxury of never realizing just how filthy the lower classes actually are.
And yet the lower classes live in a world where they get the luxury of never experiencing how depraved the upper classes are.

Which is like saying "The only people who would vote for Mitt are the elitist jerks who think they are better then everybody, know what is right for everybody, and want to keep the poor under their thumbs." *shrugs*
