Would be nice if the Romney campaign had the intelligence or wherewithall to use some of this stuff effectively.

Yeah Ima play that, going to print it off in college, some jackass thought it was a great idea to suggest that we all stay in overnight to watch the election, so yeah, I'll need a smooth bottle of southern comfort to last the night. (landslides aren't very exciting)

Did Obama even prepare for the debate?  What a lousy performance.

If Mitt Romney ran his campaign the last eight months like he just debated for the last 90 minutes, he'd be ten points ahead in the polls.

Unfortunately, Romney is also an idiot who was just able to interrupt and gave Obama fewer chances to say, "No, that's not what I meant/ said/ did."

I hate today's politicians...

Also, Obama's facial expressions amused me. That little wince whenever Romney opened his mouth and the minor chuckles whenever the GOP candidate said something wrong were priceless...

Romney was expected to perform better in the debates among the majority of non-journalitards. While lacking a flare for stirring up discipleship, he's always been a very good speaker in the context of driving his points home. He's probably going to get a bump in the aftermath of the debates as November approaches; it's just a question of whether or not it will be enough.

Probably not enough to win the major swing states (Obama is leading by at least 8 bloody points in each!) but a bit of a bump everywhere, maybe 1-2 points.

I loved Romney in this debate. Romney was focused and within the first minute, he looked right into the camera and delivered a situation which I think a lot of americans can relate while at the same time providing a very clear and easy-to-understand plan for how he intends to fix this it. In contrast, Obama's opening speech felt tired, overly "statistical" (logos in rhetorics) and just lacked any kind of pathos which people could relate too. And I think that, especcially in the US, pathos is really, really important. People do not relate to numbers and math. Sure, Romney talks a bit about math too, but he does in in a way that people can relate to and that is such a critical, critical thing to achieve in a debate.

Romney continued to deliver, very clearly painting a dire situation where the main bulk of the people - the middle class - are hit the hardest. Obama looked like he was SLEEPING when Romney was talking! He did have a slight highlight though and that was his little speech to the American people about 20 minutes into the debate. He has a thousand weapons to use against Romney but doesn't fire off a single bullet. I was also surprised to see Obama refering to Bill Clinton when it is he who has been in charge of the country for the last four years! That decreases Obama's credibility!

Obama's problem when talking about economy is that all his talk about hope and change has ended up biting him in the ass. America is now in a state of greater despair than before and Obama can't seem to get the country out of it. Romney reinforces that view very successfully in this debate and it doesn't help that Obama himself appears to be tired, hopeless and just looks like he doesn't care and would rather like to go home.

Indeed, though, it is his anniversary afterall.

That debate restored my wavering faith in the republicans. Let's just hope that Romney can deliver atleast the same level of success in the next two debates.

Romney won on both style and substance. Obama is a "pretty boy" speech giver, he can't deliver when he has to go off the cuff and he probably could not even relate to the speech somebody else wrote for him. Romney is a businessman who understands economics and actually comprehends the information he puts out.

The debate will make no difference to Obama's core supporters but it'll help win over some independents and make some folks a bit more enthusiastic about voting for him rather than believing the mainstream media hype (at least before the debate) that the election is already over.

Edit: I look forward to the Ryan vs Biden debate.

For that drinking game, you would have alcohol poisoning by about 1/4th the way through.  As for the debate itself...I swear I could see children sitting in a playground going "I know you are but what am I?".  Neither impressed me to be honest.  Just kept repeating the same things over and over and over and over.  Did I forget to mention over?  Sorry if I did.

Guess that`s american politics in a nutshell. About that, one thing I don`t get is the Congress thing. I think it cripples the the government to much.
