These city conquest quests have pretty sick rewards. Have you seen the jump in domination ranking I am doing? :-)

doom4you also just started next to me, I'll boost him like no player has ever been boosted.

Now that everyone who's interested has had a chance to try out Sylvan, I think it's time for us to coordinate starting town types.

Every serious player should plan to focus on *one* rare resource type, and build a single superstack.  Yes, you won't be able to avoid picking up a few mines of your other rare, and those should be channeled to a secondary stack, but you don't need to care much about the size of that secondary stack.

As you've probably noticed, some troops are a lot more cost-effective than others.  Here's a list of rares and the superstacks they can reasonably be channeled into:

Crystal: Archangels, Inquisitors, Wraiths
Gem: Paladins, Silver Unicorns
Mercury: Pit Lords, Ancient Treants
Sulfur: Nightmares, Rakshasa Rajas (not recommended)

So,

- Haven players should decide early on whether they're going to be crystal- or gem-focused, and choose their keeper city sites accordingly.  They should also be willing to gift *many* cities to Academy players (the Academy player should pay most or all of the settle cost, of course).

- All Academy players who can find a Haven to cooperate with should go for mass Paladins.  (They should also be prepared to do some city gifting, since anyone planning to steal a Tear wants an Academy Protector.  Haven also benefits from early access to Gremlins and Gargoyles as Righteous Might targets.)

- Sylvan players should decide between gem and mercury early on.  (I recommend mercury since they have Phoenix to counter archers, but occasionally the map doesn't cooperate.)

- Inferno players should go for Nightmares this season unless they have a high level Barrage Fire legacy bonus.  Nobody else can use sulfur very effectively.

- Necro players are best off going for Pit Lords if they have an Inferno to cooperate with and the Mercury mines are present; otherwise Wraiths are best.

Vesuvius - So we must decide what town type we will be taking -- I'm considering Haven or Academy for example.

I'm planning on Haven, with the intention of settling my 6th city many, many times.  (Settle 6th, gift it, settle 6th again, gift that, etc.)

Hey Doombolt,
I think that you are really pro player. Actually making only one huge stack is not that good idea. Smart player (specially with destr. magic) can get you easily. The best way is to make all 3 types. Best possible all lvl 7 or twice lvl7 and lvl6 (archangels, paladins and cavaliers) in order inf - cav - shoot etc. OR at least two big stacks (inf - cav). But everyone has different opinion

I will be playing Inferno. Ves when the server Season 2 starts you will send invitation(link) to us? On our email, or maybe the best option - here, I suppose. And how is it with subscription? When I was here at start Season 1 you said that TOH cover that. How is it now? I ask because I had it for free last time, cuase I invited my friends etc. So I don´t know if my credit card works for it.

Thanks! Have a nice time

You can easily split your stack in two whenever a destruction player attacks.  Whereas, if you have two stacks of different types, you cannot merge them to overrun an opponent with a similar total army size.

And, by necessity, you will still have *some* mines of your other rare resource, so you'll have a second stack anyway.  I'm just saying that something like a 75%-25% split between, say, Paladins and Inquisitors in your empire is better than 50%-50%.

Yes agree with 75-25. But remember that if you split your stack, it is not monostack anymore. So it is less dangerous and your light magic is not so effective.

...which is why you pretty much only do this against destruction attackers, and the occasional Fire Trapper.

Yop. What do you think about population contribution? And all legacy bonuses for your city. Cause only equipment is transferable I assume that pop. contribution works only for your first city or worse - only for your first hero(so when he has army). Than lot of us split our army to another cities, thanks to high maintenance.
Battle spoils are limited by city capacity, thats good, cuase in another case it will be OP.
Third one is useless imo.

What do you think about these abilities?

Here is what i have currently selected for my legacy.
Just a draft, open for suggestions. 596 points total.
W->D->H so I'm taking 10% penalty on 3/4 skills (CI,PC amd RS)

Characteristics Illumination level 4  - +5attack at level 15 and 30
Daily Recruitment level 6 - 3.78% of troops recruited daily
Population Contribution level 7 - 4.9% of army power in gold daily
Radiant Shield level 4 - XP +5.4%, T6 daily +0.9, Attack +1.8%

As choices show, planning on going on more Honor oriented season this time. Wealth is safe route but gets boring fast.

@LordMichal

First 3 bonuses (non artifact ones) are tied to starting hero.
Note that some factions (haven, sylvan) cannot have 60/0/60 hero as their starting one so it might affect the choices.

Okay, looks like the post I quoted has inaccurate numbers, and both Daily Recruitment and Population Contribution have been weakened.  Makes sense, given what would have otherwise happened to season 2.

Ye I know all this... But how it works precisely in game is my question. Specially popularity contribution. If you use this ability maybe you can figure it out.

So an S2 server is coming soon -- but we aren't jumping into the very first as an alliance.  If you want to go and try a real s2 server, go ahead, but DO NOT use your legacy points.

We will be waiting for a little while longer so that a few S1 servers finish their war for tears so that some players can acquire their legacy.

So if you do go to a S2 server, use it as practice -- there are quite a few significant changes in S2.

We want to make sure that EVERY toh alliance player has legacy.

The benefit of waiting also allows us to see what legacy works, what is bugged, and the true values of each one.

My understanding is that once you allocate your legacy points, you cannot change their allocation, but you do keep that set of bonuses for later s2 servers.  Since my plan for this season really isn't very dependent on my legacy, and I know how I want to allocate my points (assuming I do get dom > honor > wealth as I'm supposed to; I'm a bit concerned about this since a server bug is causing the display to rotate to wealth > dom > honor for brief periods of time) I will test this.

Good afternoon. Vesuvius asked that I drop in and join the thread. Test server was alot of fun, I am loving the new race game play! My husband Kralizec and I would love to join your alliance for season two. Please let me know if there is an application process or how we'd go about that.

We where able to join the ToH 2 alliance on test, but it was only for a few days. really not long enough to be able to get to know anyone.

Thank you for your concideration.

I for one was very fond of the elves. To pillage, attack, siege, intercept and break their siege. After occupying 4 of their cities, I feel like at home there. Plus as their tier 6 is a mercury consumer, they tend to put their cities on double gold + mercury, which is a pleasure to get from them. And they have plenty for archers to succumb to wasp and phoenix spells. Munch, munch, munch. I still have my mouth full of the crispy elf I have for lunch.
