^: You will see a lot of stuff from Origins and Awakening in DA2, i have starting to see some of it.
The fact that beyond importing previous story, there is already 3 presents stories of what happened:
*The Human noble, doing some snow.
*The heroic Dalish elf sacrificing himself to slay the Archdemon
*And the Paragon Dwarf being an dwarf, like any other dwarf noble
And it will affect your companions partially (hint hint: You get one of the Awakening chars as party member).

I was the Dalish elf, yes, but I didn't sacrifice myself but slept with Morrigan. So I didn't die in the end. No way to choose that ending in Awakening?

The whole sacrifice thing, to me, was about as dumb as everyone calling a dragon a demon.

Well...
I wouldn't recommend this. It's boring and the story is all over the place. It's also rushed and has a lot of bugs(a bioware game with bugs, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT) but the worst thing is the interface, playing the game is a huge pain. You can't give invidual orders to characters anymore, not to mention command them. They either stand still like statues waiting to be killed by an archer one feet away from them or they run off to greet the golem throwing a huge boulder at them with open arms. No middle ground, either eveyone stands still or no one does. Now this is snow and a pain in the ass in normal gameplay but what about the time when you get a boss fight straight from an action game? Hmmm... Nice evading the boss when your partners CAN'T EVEN SNOWING FOLLOW YOU AROUND!

Hmm... I'm playing on PC with all Tactics slots disabled, and there is no such a problem for me. Party members always do what I order them. BTW, when fighting a boss, it is not a good idea to stand together

So, 16 hours into the game and no story in sight?

"Nu this dwarf guy wants to take you into the deep roads and since that is safe and all, you should totally go with him and get assraped by darkspawn"

So, has anyone played to the point where they get to know when the real story starts?

"What part of 'already present' did you not get?!"

^: No. Apparently it involves a artifact of DOOOM..... That is the only thing suspicous from the Deep Roads.

Story, what story? I think I just got to the prologue, I'm level 10.

Unless you're pausing the game every second there's nothing you can do. You can choose between making them all stand still or all go charge. Even having the option to have a single person stand still while others move freely would feel like a bloody paradise. Why couldn't they just keep the command system from NWN? With commands like, To me, charge etc. Would make this much more fun. Or even give us an aerial view so we could effectively play the game by pausing.
This current system, gah, horrible.

16 hours and you just got to the Deep Roads?

Really?

Well considering your tempo, I suppose Japan is going to stop feeling the consequences of radiation about a week before you reach the main plot.

I actually prefer it this way, with no This Is A Dragon You're Going To Kill It thing going on from the beginning.

That is the way I played Origins and will play Awakening and 2. I hated Tactics slots. Giving orders manually is much more strategic and dynamic for me.

Anyway found a previous load game in my external hard and playing the game for the second time. Fortunately it was not a save from a very earlier stage but an Orzammar save. Thanks for the replies. Won't follow this tread as it will have some spoilers for me

Finished.
Wouldn't buy this.
Too much issues, bugs and the whole game feels rushed.
I did all the sidequests, got level 21, spent around 40h, played on hard, all the fights in the end that are supposed to be hard, like boss fights, are annoyingly easy but LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG, like god damn FFX but without the possibility of losing.

Was femlae mage, romanced two female companions, used mostly anders, isabella/carver/varrick, aveline/merril team. Double mage, both with revival is nice. Carver is godly in the end, cleave+whirlwind=1000 damage on an 8m radius. Aveline makes perfect tank being damage resistant and immune to stuns and such. Isabella is the best damage dealer in the game with proper upgrades.

Finished it too.
Expected more, but it's alright.

Feels more like an elaborate expansion pack, though. Too few locations, it all takes place in the city and a few surrounding areas. Origins got me used to traveling around the world, seeing all kinds of crap. This, while not being necessarily bad, simply seems far less epic.

Ending could've used more work, too.

Still, had a good time.

I'm playing on Nightmare as a mage. Aveline is my tank, Varric my rogue, and Anders my healer/buffer. My mage is level 17.

A big gripe I have is all the recycling of the same dungeon and house. You would think they would make more dungeons and houses rather than using the same one over and over and just blocking certain passageways and doors. That takes much fun out of exploration. Oh, and there are no wide open spaces. Everything is a narrow path. At least so far. I'm only in Act 2.

In general there seems to be less of everything in the game. Fewer places to explore, fewer spells, all skills were eliminated, ect. I am sadly disappointed as I loved Origins.

people seem really disappointed with this game. I keep hearing it's OK, but "OK" for a sequel of the game that became instant classic is just WAY below fans' expectations. -_-

I'm not playing it anyway, trying to keep clean (but it doesn't work. Still, getting another addictive game would be total overkill).

I just hope Witcher2 & Diablo3 will live up to the hype.

Well, 6 is an OK game, even bordering on being good

Gamespot definitely uses an exponential formula. the difference between 20 and 50 is as big as the difference between 95 and 96, according to their ratings -_-

I wish people would use the standard formula. 5 for really average product, 7 for good, 9 for totally incredible, 10 for legendary, near-perfect. The amounts of 9s and 10s gaming review industry uses begs for a facepalm.
