At first I was disappointed. I thought, what a samurai salamander, are there turtles too? I was just mad, the units look good enough. Some of the units in the past were... odd. I don't think I'll play them much, I'll use the necromancers till the expansion pack comes out with some elves. Irollan is on the maps someones got to live there, Fingers crossed.
So now, not to disappointed the game is all about adventure and discovery new stuff to add to the story is good.

Defo not a surprise from my part. Since the fifth faction would be a faction NEW to the series, it really only opened a door for either the Faceless or the Naga to be added to the game.
I'm kinda disappointed because neither my precious elves, nor the facy mages made the final cut. (Stronghold??? Really??)... but on the other hand, I'm kinda excited at the new elements this serpentine faction might bring to the franchise.

I still don't understand what people have versus Stronghold.
It's been with the game since the first instalment, it most strongly represents the MIGHT part of MIGHT and Magic.
It's an iconic faction that has always played an important role in the series, I'm more suprised HoMMV Dind't have it in the opening line-up, that seemed very weird, of course that game did a lot of other things weirdly. (still a great game though.)
Having said that, I still think there is room for another new faction that isn't Faceless or Naga.
Bastion from WoG comes to mind, but there are more myths to draw inspiration on.
We have enough myths and legends to keep making at least another dozen coherent factions.
Not saying they should, but there is both material and space.
Could easily add a continent to Ashan's world map, or heck, finish this continent first, they haven't even done that.

Overall Sanctuary is good, again as the majority the Spring Spirit can use some creativity e.g: Hermit riding a giant turtle like some Chinese Painting I saw earlier this Year Chinese New Year. The hermit can be some Kappa or something not "Human" and still fill the same role as of the controversial Spring Spirit a.k.a Water Elemental  however everything already set on stone, and my guess in this stage of development there is no way of changing them.
HOWEVER, there are things I like there are also things that I don't like and it happened in all the games I played, as long as the overall is great and considering that I miss greatly a good Fantasy TBS game, I put much hope on this. Really looking forward for the release.

Stop comenting on the faction that much...those of you who don't/can't appreciate the effort and dedication that the developers put into each and every one of the factions just keep your mouths shut! If you don't like them, you don't play them. It's as simple as that. I for one feared because I would have wanted Sylvan, but I am more than pleased with the Sanctuary faction (probably because I LOVE blue).
Note to the wise: First get some game-developing experience, then become a world-class recognized critic, not the other way around (play the game before criticizing, duh...we are SUPPOSED to be the open-minded genius generation, not the "It's-new-so-it's-uber-evil-and-bad").

It says right there in the OP, "What are you feelings towards it?". Not "Don't post unless you agree with me that it's super awesome!". This thread is for opinions and there are plenty of legitimate criticisms presented in a calm and mature manner in this thread. "Don't like it don't play them" is staggeringly redundant and unhelpful when the majority of negative opinions expressed are along the lines of "Wow this looks really cool, except for this one little thing..."

If you're not allowed to rationalize why you don't like something before buying it, you will never be considered fair when you don't buy a game.
Part of being a consumer is being able to at least express your views on a product you might buy, critique it (not review it) and base your opinion upon facts you gathered before the actual purchase.
Also telling people to stop discussing a faction in a thread meant for discussing the faction seems a bit of an oxymoron.

This one saved the faction for me 
Finally something that looks like a dragon and a mean one too.
I just hope it ends up being a better "New" Dragon than the Lava Dragon from HoMM5 - which I loved, but seemed a little hated by many.. :/
How much of this faction is stolen from Myths? The naga is really the only one I know off

So yeah, the entire faction, but this is Heroes, so that's par for the course.
