I don't have a problem with it either. Well, the spirit could be replaced with this for example.

Either way, I like the idea of using Asian mythology

stolen from Myths

Excuse me? I don't think "stolen" is the word you wanted to use right there, was it?

Ki-Rin was never a dragon, even if it resembles one. It's pretty much the Chinese equivalent of the Unicorn. It appears to be draconic sometimes but the Chinese had other creatures they called Dragons. And it's so in the game too. Ubi said "no Dragons in towns" and as far as I'm concerned, there aren't any. H6's Ki-Rin has been described as a dragon only by outsiders, if I recall correctly.

if I'm right, the green one is the upgrade?

I wonder if it wouldn't be slightly better the other way around. blue serpents make me think of sea serpents (maybe I'm wrong), which I think, are far more venimous than regular serpents.

actually maybe the upgrade should just have blue serpents too, but with black stripes maybe, like that

I have to agree, actually... they could just switch the staves around and be done with it, maybe add more bling to the blue one.

I agree Admira, she seems to be the best of them - but ingame will change everything!

Oh and thanks for myth / lore links Good to know a little about it.

It will be sad, if no dragons are availeble for hire and if the Kirin is no dragon, then they should have drawn it different It reminds me of the asien dragons you often see in festivals

There is no Medusa in this faction.

First of all, Medusa = worst creatures ever. They have never been cool dude - and second , the whole idea of a naga town, I didn't approve of that and not to forget: I BLAME MAMGA FOR THIS!

whatever is mamga

I kind of like the idea of this "aquatic town". It does bring forth some interesting questions, like "why won't they just traverse seas by walking on the seafloor". Either way, at least it's not loads of a single creature being used over and over with different weapons, but rather actual monsters.

The lack of dragons whatsoever doesn't bother me. This is Might and Magic: Heroes, no dragons involved in the name or wherever. H3 and H5 both had enough dragons, not having any is a nice change.

Then I'd advise you to take another look at the picture Emil posted in the Masterpost. Because the creature on the far left looks EXACTLY like a Medusa (or more technically: a gorgon)

It might look like one, but we don't know if it can petrify, and we know it's not called a Medusa, but a Coral Maiden or something!

How many snake-haired, half-snake female mythical beings are there, anyway?

Well, there are the Gorgons (Stheno, Euryale and Medusa, ofc), the Graiae (the Gray Maidens, which are featured in Disney's Hercules), the Furies or Erynnes (the ones that Avenge crimes, and matricide in particular) , the Hesperides (whivh tend the golden apples) and the fates, of course. While all of these creatures are all differentiated by the Greek authors, they are all beautiful, yet excruciatingly terrible females that all have a similar, antagonistic role in Greek Mythology. In appearance however, they are completely different from one another.

That being said, the ONLY of the above creatures with snake-like hair, and the ability of turning many a foolhearty adventurer into the most solid rock, are the Gorgons, or Medusae as they have been called in HoMM previously.

Outside of the Hellenic Mythos, I cannot think of any feminine, serpentine creatures that aren't Nagas or Gorgons. Maybe the Nording Jormundaddr, (although... part-human? idk about that one) but I'm not certain that creature even HAS a gender altogether, let alone a human component.

I'm certain it's them, with their snakelike bodies, the mage-like robes and staff (in Greek Mythology, Gorgons are witches, rather than the Archers they are in H3 and H4). I think it DOES make sense to have them in a serpentine faction, especially one centered around water (as the Gorgons were born to one of the Titans associated with the sea).I'm sure it's them... or at least something similar.

So as much as they probably are Gorgons, they are called Coral Maidens. Probably.
...it wouldn't hurt if they could petrify.

Well, in Norse mythology there are those old ladies who decide the fate of people or something like that. And the Valkyries which are sometimes decipted as necromantic creatures today.

And then there is the goddess Hel, from where the word hell comes from. She was not very nice.

Yes, but greek mythology probably has the most.
I guess the moderns religions caused a lot of increased gender inequality.

^ You're refering to the Norns, but they are more like the Greek Fates, in the sence that they are paramountly powerful, yet enigmatic sorceresses that controll fate. Sorceresses... but naught more. No half-breeds there.

Do you happen to know in with of the many naga myths do they have snake-hair?
You did toled use that they are not medusas before, You even said that Medusas do exist on Ashan, but we do not know where yet. It is a half-snake humanoid with snake-hair, the only myth many people have for such creature are the Gorgons. The source of this myth, if there is such a thing like a Thai/India snake head naga would by very welcomed.
