Musics of which game is your favourite?

The want to ask this question came to me because I have just extracted my favourite game music and now listening to it. It is Diablo 2. I was loving them while also playing the game. And now that I'm listening, wow, they are amazing. As the game's atmosphere was incredibly capturing, while listening to the music, I feel there, you know, in the game.

Hell, I think I'll play the game one more time soon

So musics of which game is your favourite?

Since you mentioned Diablo 2...
Here is Diablo 1, the town music: Tristram
It bloody brilliant, never thought acoustic guitar could fit so well with a fantasy setting, but it can.

However, over to my absolute favorite:
AGE OF EMPIRES!
One of the many master pieces from that legendary game. Makes you wanna build stuff and kill elephants.

Yeah this is also in Diablo 2 and is confirmed to be also in Diablo 3. Wonderful really.

Seriously, no one mentioned the Battlefield theme yet?

Other than that and the HoMM ones, the Empire Earth theme qualifies as one of the best ones in history. Oh and definitely Morrowind.

And the Kane and Lynch one.

Damn you, now I can remember them all day.

These aren't necessarily the "best" pieces, but they're the pieces I can think of that charged me up the most while playing the game.

FF VII - J.E.N.O.V.A.

Sorry, but whatever your feelings toward the crowd that Halo attracts are, the theme song was simply spine-tingling:

Several songs from Heroes would make this list, but for the sake of choosing one of them: Heroes of Might and Magic 5, Sylvan Town Theme.

This one is somewhat cheating since it's taking from a RL piece. Achtung Panzer!

Not a big fan of Oblivion, but its theme song is undeniably awesome:

And my ranked #1 of all time:
Baldur's Gate 2: Dragonbattle Music. This music just says "The **** has just hit the fan."

It's been a while, but I think that was done by Rush? Anyway, I always enjoyed it too. The acoustic work is...haunting

It's the old H3 themes for me at drawing time.

The best: Final Fantasy games, mostly FFX, due to brilliant soundtrack (so much sadness in such simple tunes, I call it a masterpiece).

Runner up: A ton of games, actually. However, because not many games impressed me with whole soundtrack, and FFX did, it deserves 1st place

I agree with you, DF, on the FF games in general and FFX in particular.  I still actually catch myself humming the main theme when I'm not paying attention.  Beautiful song.

Zelda's main themes are also rather nice, but you've got to give FFX credit for really creating something original each game.

Heroes II has by far the best soundtrack of any other computer game every made IMO - the opera tracks are just incredible.  In fact, the MM games in general all had very good music.

Another one of my favorites was Warcraft II.

Tracks from other games I really like (some):

Dungeon Siege - Besieged town theme. Sweet, calm, relaxing. Something it's awesome to listen to watching a sunrise

Betrayal at Krondor - Under the City. Dungeon theme. The most climatic dungeon music EVER. It's absolutely unbeatable.

Final Fantasy X - Ending theme. Imho the best FF song & one of the most beautiful songs of games.

Heavy Rain - Main theme. Beautiful music that seems highly inspired by "Lux Aeterna".

MGS - Calling to the night. If you prefer nice songs with vocals.

MGS3 - The best is yet to come. Gallic song! Beautiful, too. Nobody understands the lyrics, there are some (highly varied) translations tho.

FF IX - Melodies of Life (piano version) - Very sweet.

Deus Ex - Paris Streets. A short instrumental, but very "climatic".

Fallout - Untitled. Just bone chilling. Perfect for every abandoned military installation of any game!

Everything that Daisuke Ishiwatari has made for his games. If you've clicked any of my links in the "Listening To" thread recently you've probably come across his work.

A short example for ya:

Mods, please remove that music playing from the posts, it's loud AND SUDDEN AND YOU CAN'T TURN IT OFF, sorry, capslock (quicker just to explain than delete).

Or modify the posts to youtube embeds like other people's.

How do you embed HTML anyway?

I have several playlists to share =)

Hubby and I need to finish up editing and uploading the Master of Orion 2 soundtrack, afterwards we have a few other games to do that we discussed with other youtube video makers for help with (borrowing clips their video and providing links back to their videos).

Anyway:

Age of Wonders

Axis and Allies (1998 TBS)

Axis and Allies (2004 RTS)

Battle Chess Enhanced

Civilization 4 (just the "official" soundtrack included with our Civilization Chronicles box set, not the full extended soundtrack... yet)

All Homm towns ever (until Heroes 6 is out. Also I fixed my darn signature finally. A typo seems to send people to linkbucks or something like that.)

Lords of the Realm 2
