Man, you must get raped on small to medium maps. If you go capitol rush, then someone can easily go for quick lvl4 and attack you if you are close enough. Don't skimp on creatures nor money: balance.
Anyways, I think that Titans are mediocre considering all factors. On one hand, they are ranged attackers which improves their durability in some situations. On the other hand, they do have ranged penalties, plus they are expensive as hell (both dwelling and creature wise). Me being a Tower player myself, I like to get Sexpert Archery ASAP to maximize my MGs and Archmagi, then I can get Titans later on and enhance them with the orgy of spells I will have being the magic-oriented tower. The major flaw is that troops like A. Behemoths and B. Dragons can take a Titan 1v1, but that does not mean that they are bad.

I think me and Stiven has a lot of tricks to learn from you. You intrested in a 1 vs 2 on a random large/XL? So that you can teach us how to manage economy and military.

What I am saying is that capitol rush is not that wise on small to medium maps. If I start out at a position where another player can attack me within a week, then I'm not going quick capitol. I'm going for quick troops. Still, my normal build is to get at least lvl3 troops first week(depending a lot on the resource wealth of the map itself; if it's a rich map then I'll go more for troops and hold off capitol; if it's a relatively poor map I'll go for a capitol early second week), and not to go straight up for Capitol.

WARNING: This is a non-sarcastic Post (something that has been lacking quite a bit in this thread :-P)
To end all of the arguments I will ask you all to please play some MP games for ToH/WW/M&H... by playing games against some worthy opponents (humans, not comps set on normal :-P) I believe you will be able to find the best building order for yourself ;-)
...and for the whole AB/BD/Titan thing... my general ranking would go
1) AB 2) BD 3) Titan
Of course, it ALWAYS depends on situation blah blah if only people would goddamn accept this it would save 738,473,487,985 posts and 34,873,847 flame wars.

To Perji: Titans weren't gods' children (same thread,page 3). Zeus, Hera, etc. were the children of Kronos, who ate them (unless Zeus),because of a prophecy, which said, that one of his children will defeat him. Zeus was hidden by his mother, and after he grew up, he defated Kronos, and released his brothers and sisters: Hera, Poseidon, Hades, and two others (I don't remember their names). (Many other gods were the children of these gods. There are also some exception, for example Aphrodite.) After all were free, they defeated Kronos and the other titans, and banished them to the Tartarus. Cyclopes, giants also weren't god's children, but I can't remember their origin.
For the poll question: As some people mentioned in this topic before, titans have no melee penalty, so they can be used as melee stacks. That's why the range ability is a plus advantage, which makes it only better. If you are against it, use melee attacks, and you won't suffer range penalty. Maybe they are worse than other level7, but it isn't the range ability, that causes the disadvantage.
Otherwise I agree with DVZ(same thread, page3). A pretty force field (level3 spell) on the battlefield, and the dragons can't attack the titan, while the titans can shoot them. If you have a fast troop (for example from a refuge camp), you can place the force field, and your titans can feel secure.

Here's why:
Round 1
Gold Dragon attacks Titan, Titan retaliates. (1 hit each)
Titan attacks GD, GD retaliates. (2 hits each)
Round 2
Same as above, now 4 hits each.
Round 3 - option A
GD attacks, Titan retaliates. 5 hits is never enough for a GD to take out a Titan, even with max damage.
Titan attacks. On average, the 6th hit is enough to take down the GD (though not always - about a 77% chance, though).
Round 3 - option B
GD waits.
Titan attacks. About 35% of the time this attack will kill the GD, but if it doesn't, the GD retaliates.
GD now attacks, with about a 65% chance of killing the Titan. If it does not, the Titan will probably kill it on the retaliation.
The key is that the 5th attack will never kill a Titan, and it can usually survive the 5th attack by a Titan. So whoever gets the 6th attack first has a better chance to win. By waiting, the GD gets that 6th attack first.
Remember, there is a "defend" button too. Makes thibgs very complicated.

Let's not forget about gold's immunity to 1-4th. If you were to give each of the heroes commanding the creatures magic arrow or something crappy like that, it would throw off the whole outcome. Or if the heroes had a defensive spell and the gold dragon is almost guaranteed to be immune except for magic mirror then the titan would probably get that little advantage it needs. That's if you throw a bit of magic into this scenario. Which is almost always a major factor in a real game.
