Yeah, what a totally stupid idea to release this right before summer 
As for the beta: they already failed stress test since servers are overloaded and it's impossible to log in. lol. Way to go blizz!

Just a little status update: It seems the servers are being worked to death with everybody trying to download the game (which might've been Blizzard's plan all along; every download this weekend may be one download less the days after release. Spreading it out, you know?) and that for some reason the downloader and/or login only works for the americas, so just switch your area to over there and you should be fine.

I managed to get in despite the servers being an awful piece of **** right now.
Played for 10 mins.
The game does have "super flying bodies" from Titan Quest incorporated, so it feels fun and rewarding to bash monsters. The damage numbers are a bit bland and boring, but at least they don't get in the way. I miss rockin' criticals! The game kinda reminds me of Torchlight, it actually reminds me more of Torchlight than Diablo so far, lol. It looks and plays like TL except for rocking crits. (with obviously more serious atmosphere and design, but still...)
But it's good. Thumbs up so far.
However, it almost melted my laptop. No games has EVER made it so hot. I'm surprised, honestly, since the fps was quite stable (all settings on high bar shadows).
The levels so far feel a little claustrophobic, I miss big open areas.
Oh well, gotta go to sleep. More testing tomorrow. I have high hopes about this game. I actually want it to be my final game before more or less retiring from gaming (or at least, as much gaming as I do).
EDIT: yup, game's awesome. A must buy if you like H&S. Will probably trample all opposition for the next 5 years or so. Stress test is garbage tho, it doesn't load the game 90% of the time. So much for their servers being able to withstand mass player interest. Error 300008 > Blizzard

I got that the first couple of times too, but just re-login and/or change settings to Americas, that worked for me, been on for 4 hours straight now, lvl'ing my DH

My friend and I are considering getting this so we can play together, but she's never played any of the Diablo games before and would like to try it out before spending her money. Does anyone know if there is a demo? Or if there will be? And if so, when?
I can't just let her play my copy, because I don't intend on buying one if she doesn't. I'd only buy it if she does so we can play together.

His voice is far too quiet compared to other characters, plus he talks 'under the breath'. I guess this is to make him more 'oooh', but it doesn't really work if I can't hear anything he says  (even had to put subtitles on lol and turn to down the volume of all other 'areas')

Diablo 2 demo, its too short, but its good.

Go to options there you can enable Elective mode then you have to drag your ability off the left or the right mouse button hotkey and then you will have the basic attack there.

Thank you. I'm sad that there's no demo, but oh well. My friend ended up downloading the demo for Diablo 2 and I showed her a couple of videos of Diablo 3 and we ended up pre-ordering. Looking forward to playing together. Thanks again for the help.

In case anybody is interested, it was just announced there will be a free trial of Diablo 3.
It looks like it will be not be available without a starter pass for 30 days after the official launch. More info here.
