HoMM4 multyplayer Direct TCP/IP question.

Hello everyone!

I have recently tried to set up a multilayer game via Direct TCP/IP.
Everything seems to be fine but second person cannot connect to the host (me).
We both have Winds of War expansion. I have created a port forwarding from external IP to internal ip of hosting PC and port 4377. Still no luck.
Firewall exceptions were added.

Any advice how to setup game via Direct TCP/IP?

P.S. Searched forum, didn't find anything.

Thanks.

Trying to help :D

You are having a network trough internet or lan? Router, switch?
xp, win 7? Have you played other games via tcp/ip with your friend?

If it's internet, if you want a simple solution, hamachi is the answer, in game the guy that joins just uses tcp/ip and enters the ip hamachi dedicated to the host after they have joined the same hamachi group.

About lan if you can find the other persons pc in network places and you both have tcp/ip protocol it should work as long as there are proper firewalls (correct program and port)

If you provide more info someone (including me) may be able to help you better.

Connecting over Internet.
Using WRT-54GL router (port forwarding set to specific PC with port 4377)
Windows XP pro on host and Vista on other.
I didn't play any games via DIRECT TCP/IP bu i have no problem connecting via steam to counter strike servers etc

Could you please give me more info on hamachi?

Appreciate any help )))

Hamachi is a program that creates virtual lan over the internet. So it's like you two are in the same room and have lan but only with maximum speed like that of the internet connection you posses.

Anyway here's a download link
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hamachi/
the program is a freeware so it means it's free.

First you instal it on your and your friends pc (may require restart don't remember
When you start it it looks something like this.
https://sites.google.com/a/wongsk.twbbs.org/wongsk/image/LogMeInHamachi-1.png
Then you click the button and it goes online.
After that ... one of you creates a room and the other guy joins.
Now you have lan with Ip's from hamachi, meaning for any game or program ... you may use TCP/IP protocol with the given Ip (for example 5.125.215.63)

When you guys are in the same room you can just host a heroes 3 or 4 or any game with Direct TCP/IP and the other guy can join with the hosts Ip from hamachi.

If host gets 5.125.215.63, friend joins hamachi room created by host and then joins game with entering 5.125.215.63.

Note that also your friend can create the room and you can join his room and than host the game.

I overdid it a little but I hope it helps anyway
