Hmm I wondering is there a penalty or something if I want to change my enchantments?

What happens when you pick one of the paths for a class? Do you get your enhancements auto-assigned? I've always chose the customize option.

@Blizz .... enhancements for customized built characters are never auto assigned. You will need to check out your build on DDO wiki http://ddowiki.com/page/Home
