Heroes 2 Strategies

So... Here those who are still interested about this game can share knowledge, strategies, tactics, BOs etc.

1.Rogues are good add to Knights early game
-good attack(and no retaliation )
-mix with pikeman and archer/ranger
-pikeman act as meatshield, Ranger/Archer as long range offensive unit and rogues as deadly melee to any low level units

2.Genies...
-Use them in late game
-give 5 genies to separate hero and split them to 5 stacks
-attack your enemy with the genie hero
-If you are lucky enemy might lose half of their armys backbone

More Neutral Units

So here is some more tactics/strategies about neutral units:

-Medusas
-They are sturdy support units with great special ability
-Good addition to almost any army
-They can give you some precious time in battles by stoning the greatest stack of the enemy

-Ghosts...
-They are statistically OK, but the special makes them very OP

-Nomad
-Pretty cheap, OK stats
-Try to bless them they have 2-5 damage

-Elementals
-Earth
-Sturdy units, make a good meatshield
-Air
 -Light strike unit
-Take retaliation before attacking with Airs
-Fire
 -Fast attacker
-Water
 -Pretty sturdy defenders

You can ask any questions about strategies of Heroes2(and I will try to answer them). And just post here, I know you all still love this game

These seem pretty basic tips. You may want to try this:

1. Play as Sorceress faction
2. Recruit a Barbarian and make him your main hero
3. Bonus points if you can get Wisdom and Mass Haste, but most likely you won't need it. Try to get Archery and/or Leadership.

What's the point ? Well, Sorceress units have very good initiative. Phoenixes are ultra fast, druids and elves very fast. So you can kill 3 fastest stacks of the opponent and finish the 4th with sprites. If you cast a spell like Blind or kill a weak stack with spell, you can eliminate 5 stacks in first turn.

Now Barbarian gets heaps of Attack Skill which greatly increases damage dealt. 95% of the time there's no "my turn" for the enemy. This also works in Heroes 1 (minus the obvious Archery and Leadership skills)
------------

1. Play a Warlock town
2. Use your initial hero as a scout (great vision range!). Hire a Knight and make him your main hero.

Similar to the above. In my opinion Knight is actually a better choice for this army unless you wait very long until dragons and armageddon. You have no decent shooters, and just have to engage in melee. When duty calls your flyers have to neutralize enemy archers, and will take a lot of hits in the process. Knight gets a lot of defense skill so you'll take much less losses. And your creatures will hit a lot harder than those wimps led by a warlock or sorceress.
