I didn't say it wasn't handy, I say it's NOT a must-have as it used to be in previous Heroes. Some people still have the H3/H5 mindset where not having Logistics was a huge mistake while it's not the case in H6. It can help but it's not what will give you a "strong" advantage against your opponent.

I found Pathfinding 1 + a few other unveiled skills to be a killer combo on a secondary hero, but in all my games I've found it totally wasted on my main hero.

No it isn't but that is true for the rest of the skills, no tier 1 abilities are an absolute must have save for the healing ones.

Picking up 5 chests or visiting 5 map objects without Pathfinder I you waste more than 15% of your movement points! Multiply it by 7 and you will see that my week is 1 day longer than yours!

Like you are moving around the map all the time during the first few weeks. Exhausting your movement completely every single day and engaging all the neutrals just doesn't work on a difficulty above Easy where you can hire a second hero and use his/her army as a readily available mean to double the size of your army from the very start. Doing the same on a higher difficulty is quite likely to cripple the economy for the next week. On the other hand, with the starting army you can engage only some of the neutrals surrounding the would-be capitol (I'm talking about Broken Alliance here, it depends on the map of course) and when you are done with them - usually no later than day 5 - you just get back to town and wait for the week to end. So there is no incredible necessity to pick up Pathfinding and you won't gain any significant advantage by doing so.

What does 115 mean? Month 1, week 1, day 5? And build "spiders" (Fate Spinners?) at the same time? Nah, sorry, I'm not buying it. Especially the last part is more than 100% impossible. Capturing the mines on the other hand is easy but you don't need Pathfinding to do so in 5 days.

Not really, just the part with the "Spiders" on day 5 is a pure sci-fi, without the "sci". Even on Easy.
Anyway, the point was that Pathfinding doesn't add that much to the initial exploration. The heroes are quite mobile on their own. I'd rather take something that will help me in battle and reduce the casualties directly or indirectly.

Now when I think of it, there is a way to achieve this but I don't remember to building requirements to get to the "Spiders". If they are what I currently think they are, they will definitely need to be fixed. In the closed beta I mainly wanted to check what each creature does and haven't tested how fast you can get to some high tier thing. So let's say that, theoretically, you might be right.

On easy it's easy.
Day 1: Hall of Heroes
Day 2: Town Hall
Day 3: City Hall
Day 4: Champion dwelling
Provided you are lucky with a couple of res.

Still a waste, though, on that map. Who needs champion dwellings?

That said, with the first version of the game Necromancy was broken - and unnecessary to use. With a working racial Necro has been just as overpowered as Haven which is amazingly out of everything remotely sane. You can see that when you set player 6 to Haven (normal AI).
Sanctuary is a bit more mundane, but that was only because some abilities were broken.
Stronghold was a farce as well, due to the Dreamwalkers being part of the initial army.

That left Inferno/Hard for a halfway decent game.

Either way after all the feedback the devs got, the stats, abilities, costs and so on are more than likely changed by now.
