Forgotten cartoons

I finally found a cartoon I used to watch as a little kid. I was rather happy (I'm sentimental) to see it again, but after 2 minutes happiness turned to annoyance when I noticed there are absolutely no subtitles for it, and english Dub is done up to 12th of 52 episodes. (not to mention it's one of the most horrible dubs I've ever heard -_-)

I have the full cartoon in Dutch, and yay... I don't understand a word.

By the way, it's called "Alfred J Kwak". Perhaps some of you seen it. For a kiddie cartoon it was totally awesome, focused on mature themes like dictatorship, adoption, apartheid.. with some death and sadness to add to the mixture. Watched it as a 5yo and was totally mesmerized.

Ever had such a situation? To find the anime/cartoon you vaguely remember, just to see it forgotten and impossible to watch again due to language barrier? -__-

Pisses me off. perhaps I should pay some Dutch guy to make me proper subs in English, lol ^^

Yup thats the one, was something about black ducks as well, and some war across the sea... ages ago

I think it's better not to watch stuff you grew up on, you just get disappointed, leave it where it should be - as a magical piece of childhood memories....

There's not much to ruin, I don't remember it at all.

I just remember I liked it really a lot and that it was beyond typical kiddie cartoons with its depth.

One beloved cartoon of my childhood was called Inhumanoids.

It featured a very serious story that was considered way too scary and violent for back then. Main characters die, a lesser villain melts when he steps into a pool of toxic sludge, a hero that is killed is resurrected as an undead zombie. Civilians are often killed.

The show is named after the inhumanoids, somewhat based on Cthulu, they were demi-god/alien beings that slumbered in the earth for thousands of years and now only the team of scientists that discovered them and the primal forces of the earth can stop them.

too bad the show only lasted 13 episodes.

Aaaaah! This thread made me go dig up the hidden treasures of childhood, and what did I find?

Ulysses 31

Spartakus and the Sun beneath the Sea

Iga no Kabamaru

Man, these are priceless to me... I'm so compelled now to find them and watch them all over again.

That's because it is an E-P-I-C Dutch Cartoon, Shyranis I actually have forgotten about it, but I used to love it when I was younger (although I didn't get 99% of the references, I was a bit too young and innocent to know this at the age of seven )

Oh my favorites were Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory and I.M. Weasel.

I'd watch them now.  I was always worried that Cow would hurt her udders when she turned into her superhero.

Speaking of Cartoons, I have sorta rolled into rewatching some episodes of Hey Arnold again, and man this cartoon is still, after all those years, absolutely amazing. I love it so much, if not only for this fun megab_tch:

today I watched the Animals of the Farthing Wood again. One of the more "mature" kid shows too - well, if you take into consideration that about 80% of the initially big cast is killed over three seasons (especially the second one), it's rather depressing. What's worse, deaths were usually very violent - a pair of hedgehogs gets run down by a car, and baby mice get killed and impaled on bloody thorns (!) by a butcherbird. Even "regular" death of old age of Badger was disturbing..
Heck, I can't believe they even killed off poor Moley.

It had one of the more memorable themes of the 90's, though. I find it rather beautiful even today

I wish modern cartoons were like this. Traumatizing, maybe, but also great for developing sensitivity in kids.

Out of Cartoon Network era, the only ones I really liked were Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and Swat Kats. Dexter's Lab is great I agree, but Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, IM Weasel and Two Stupid Dogs were totally dumb to me Dexter's lab has some fantastic voice acting for a cartoon and it's actually funny. The rest... naaaah.
