There's one thing I don't get... If it is so crystal-clear, that Ubi's servers aren't up to the challenge, why not provide alternative sources? for example, an official, 100% legal torrent file?

Can't say for certain, i'm not familiar with ubi's inner works, but there has to be few reasons.
1. Make people register at their uPlay service to get a download link. (Torrent would just spread via torrent sites)
1.1. Make people who have uPlay account (ubi acc) participate at beta forums providing feedback
2. Controlling how many people actually download it.
Etc.

Hey there,
Well first off let me say that I don't understand why nobody here uses steam. It is like the best station to put all your games and buy them there. I had 0 issues, so maybe it's something to think about.
Secondly, I have downloaded it a while ago and played the first tutorial just to make sure I dont miss any new stuff.
I will be playing some more now and check back on this topic for any questions or requests some of you may have.

Apparently their servers are overloaded, everything Ubisoft-related is opening slowly for me. I have no idea how should I get my public beta key but that's irrelevant provided that I can't open anything to start downloading...

Some of us simply love boxed editions, that would be it .
Once again, try downloading via manager, i posted a link to one in my earlier post.

So... I participated in the closed beta, and I was told I would receive a beta key for this beta as well. So far I haven't got any key. Is the key for the closed beta the same as this one, or should I wait till I get it, or...???

Why don't they make spell book actually look like a *book*, is beyond me. Sadly those menus look too functional, too sterile, so imo much of The Feel is lost with browsing between those clinical-feeling menus. Town screen looks of course awful.
So far I really like the music though (including that sweet melody I remember from H5). And battlefields look pretty decent
Had no issues with downloading the beta, got it in under half an hour.
