Heroes 6 vs Heroes 5 graphics comparison

In general graphics in H6 is much superior to H5, but some aspects have problems. Let's take a look ...

H5 have antialiasing option, H6 not Because of this we have in H6 lots of jugged elements in game, looking ugly. Example - take a look at inventory picture H6, heroine is jugged a lot.

Heroes 6 hero inventory

Heroes 5 hero inventory

Heroes 5 hero inventory look better to me, artifacts is bigger in size and look more detailed compared to H6. Then i look at artifacts in menu i want to see legendary things not some small pictures, barely visible ...
3D inventory heroine figurine in H6 look ugly compared to 2D image of hero in H5. Background in H5 looking like old paper is better compared to dark cold background in H6.

Resources, units on map.

H6 resources, units

H5 resources, units

Pile of stone in h5 is more detailed. Textures in h6 are less detailed, more blurry. Units, resources because of no antialiasing in H6 looks lot more jugged compared to H5.

The first thing some notices is the difference in reality. H5 was a lot more cartoonish (something i like - for example red alert 2 vs red alert 3+) whereas H6 is a lot more realistic.

I like both equally for different reasons each. Believe me, give it some time and you will start liking it more!

He has a good point about the anti-aliasing, actually. The Heroes 5 stones look like they are part of the image. The Heroes 6 version looks like they were just cut-and-pasted in above the image. Looks very bad. Same is the case with many other things, like the way creatures look on the battlefield - they look very "out of place".

Even so, if I had to choose I would choose the stone from 6 anytime. a lot more real life stones and not like sugar cubes...

I prefer the H6 rocks because, well, they look more like rocks.
I'm totally digging the inclusion of a pickaxe though.

EDIT: Maybe it would be better if you cropped the images to only show that which is being compared?

Visual stile is better in H6, but technical aspects must be superior to H5, not inferior. H6 is next gen heroes, please more detailed textures on resources and antialiasing on.

Be careful, the pickaxe should be there ONLY if there is a mine there! not randomly in the woods for example!

After some contemplation of H6 image. Pay attention how detailed is texture on road, we can see even fissures on ground, flowers etc ... Now take a look at stone, wood resources. Much less details, no fissures, nothing ... Blurry ... It's like part of another game, lots older.

Thanks god I was very worried. In last beta was option anti-aliasing on/off. Not worked, but was like a promise for future implementation.  In current beta this option gone. Was pain to see that

The trees in H6 looks a helluva lot better, I'm gonna give them that.
The H5 grass tufts are a nice touch though.

Yeah, the option was there in the closed beta, but wasn't working. There is no modern 3D game without anti-aliasing, so this is not a concern imo.

Starcraft 2 launched with no anti-aliasing option. Last Settlers from UBI have anti-aliasing ?

The UI is kinda wonky in general. Why is the x to close menues so tiny?

And why did they feel the need of having the model of the character in the character screen when the equipment doesn't show on character anyway? And I'm not particularly fond of most of those character models, btw. Not that this idea would've worked in any other game in the series, but still.

The wood and ore icons are practically identical, but I reckon there's only so many ways to draw wood and ore.
