Poll Question:
Are you going to buy "M&M: Heroes VI Collector's Edition"?

When I first heard about the collector's edition of M&M: Heroes VI, I looked after what additional items we can get if we buy the "extended" version... And I must say that concinced me!

The whole thing reminded me of the King's Bounty Collector's Edition where we could also get a T-shirt, an atwork book, a poster and more... Here by Heroes VI, there is the soundtrack CD, the Haven metal ring and the ingame add-ons.

I would like to know what you think about the Collector's Edition! Are you guys gonna buy that? I preordered it yesterday! What kind of stuffs could be added to a collector's edition outside the recent ones?

And anyway, I have to buy some clothes every now and then...

Responses:
Sure, there are awesome extras!
Nope, only the game itself!
Haven't decided it yet...

Only if it costs like a normal version, like awesome games do (Blazblue, The Witcher 2 etc...)

Then again, whether I'll buy the game or not depends entirely on the town-screen dilemma.

Hmm?

I think I'll stick to the basic game though the collector's edition does look yummy. For the soundtrack and artbook mostly, I already have a phoenix t shirt ^^

Pretty much everyone will agree with that. Though it does not make the game easier because now you will be forced to find more and more crystal since everything requires it, lots of it. Same goes for wood/ore. The change in gameplay is undeniable(for better or worse) though the game has lost part of its variation that way.

I would enjoy a more robust town screen.

Town screens are usually somewhere you can park (when playing campaigns and the like anyway) and enjoy the music while you contemplate your next move, why the world works as it does, existence itself...

They are so full of life and are a part of the game's essence.

Needless to say, the current town screens even if made full screen will be at best as good as heroes 4 (the most boring town screens visually in the released series to date), at worst, the worst towns in the series on release.

Adding a bit more detail like each building when built would definitely increase the town's appeal.

I especially enjoyed the towns of the first 2 games, as they reminded me of old paintings. Heroes 3 was well done with its town screens as well, but with a mix of drawn and pre-rendered 3d objects involved.

Heroes 5 had the fantastic flythrough effect.

Heroes 4 at least had additional buildings that showed up each time.

I don't mind the town staying mostly front facing in Homm 6, it just would be a little nicer if it was a little less lifeless.

Back to the topic:

I may buy it. Most likely will be forced to wait however and buy the normal version. Or if they overproduce the collectors ed, I may wait for it to drop in price. I am not in the same finiancial situation I was when Homm 5 came out.

Homm3 cost me 74.99 in 1999 dollars though. That's more than any collectors edition these days.

It was a little bit more fun and sometimes critical to find those mines for crystals and alchemy stuff and etc.. well you are right it doesnt have to be easier, but still many people, also me, will be missing that :/

And towns, yeah.. i remember when i was sitting in my town mostly necropolis or inferno ( homam 2 - 3 ) and listening to the awesome music and just looking all over the place and watching the nice animations, also the Tower town atmosphere was awesome, in Homam 5 its not that great, but still it looks damn cool but in 6th .. well everyone just saw how it is... nothing to say about that so far... I hope for some huge changes in final release.

The answer is NO.

Why? Because I cannot order it in my country. *sigh*
Only digital editions

Hopefully some collector box will find its way to more exotic local game-shops.

I never really liked the rotating camera in homm 5. When the camera is still, you can see the town alot more clearly. In homm 5, there are just lots of houses everywhere. I never really look at the towns.

Anyway, homm 6 will be a massive graphics revolution to the homm series, so I think it will look swell in the end. They're not completely finished yet, at least I don't think so

I think that logically, it should be the contrary. having less type of ressources forces you to find less ressources in general, because everything you will find will most likely have a use without having to exchange it with enormous loses at the market.
