WH40k thread

Due to a few of us hijacking the Random Thoughts thread to talk about WH40k, I've decided to create a new thread about it here.

So, have at ye.

As I was saying earlier about Dead Men Walking, it's a good read.  The conflict between a bunch of emotionless killing machine vs. the Necrons makes for some great battles.

So can anybody actually afford to play the table top version?  I've looked into it but I just don't have $1,000 or so lying around.

Well it would be an exspensive hobby but the money wouldn't be the bigger factor me (not that I'm rich or anything lol it would be exspensive stuff for me too) would be that it is time consuming as hell. Like really hardcore time consuming and as a student of the law time is not something I have too much of lately T_T. If I wanted to I could of course make time for it but my desire isn't that strong. I enjoy the lore of the universe quite much so I'm content with just that.

One of my buddies has a few armies, so if I really wanted, I could try it out.  Seems like a game can suck up a lot of time.  I believe it would eat into my gaming time, which is already tight due to work.

Yeah the games may take quite some time but isn't that one of the things that would make it so attractive? The whole tactitionary and movement etc. it's a lot like chess only cooler (and complexer). What I ment with time consuming is the whole preparation drawing the models and stuff. Building them is easy but actually painting them to look good? Holy **** that's time consuming... I was talking to friend of mine who still does it and he can easily take an hour to paint 1 freakin Space Marine (he's a perfectionist though).

But if your friend has whole armies for you to chose from just play a few games. I wouldn't let the chance slip by even if it costs you a bit of your gaming time. It's not like you wouldn't be gaming afterall. Just a different game. If you don't like it you can always not spend time on it again.

I was watching a 1500 point match between his Tau army and another guys Space Marine army.  First turn of the game the Space Marine player has his Land Raider destroyed by marker lights.  He didn't think it was a big deal.

He got spanked.

Hmm.. Now I'm wondering if I should resurrect the WH40k RPG I attempted earlier.  I have a lot more source material to work with now.

True.  I'm sure the new models are in production.  Only $900 for a set of warriors.

Can't say I've tried it.

As to the RPG, should I carry on with Inquisitor angle or should we try something different?

I'd most definetly continue with the Inquisitor theme since you get the richest variety in setting and background since an Inquisitor can basically have anything in his retinue. And lore wise you can have a reason to be involved in whatever is happening.
Inquisition gives you and the players the most variety unless you want to be something too xeno-ish.

But Omega don't stress yourself you have little time and unless you really want to do this don't it be sad if it became a chore for you again.

So Taus sh**ing bricks if they face with Khorne Berserkers or f**king Nids?

Oh, are they good against Necrons? 'Cause most of the 40k armies sucks against those techno-undeads. Necrons are way to powerfull and strong...
