The church have its official version of religion.
Every man with free will and a brain can compare many aspects of it with what he reads and see somewhere else and decide what he believes in.

Right! Ea and Apollo are not God. They were poorly developed in God. God is one. Now you have a Bible on the Internet. Easy! You do not need their mother tongue teacher*, only one faith. When the priests had to translate, the ordination of women is absolutely correct. Evidence, perhaps means that you witness archaeological finds.

Pff, nice logic there fella.
An ALL POWEFUL BEING can make you happy and live healthily without affecting free will.
Key word, all powerful means it can do ANYTHING imaginable. Impressive that rleigious folks dont even "Know" their god. How amusing.

I always enjoy the selective logic of people like you.
"God created man with free will" "God is almighty" and put men to the test of faith even though he should know the answer already.
.
Either you are like elodin or just very bad at trolling because others have outdone you in so many lenghts.

Whatever, all I see from theists in this thread is pointless quoting of their favorite holybook, dodging facts with logical fallacies and more nonsense.

Its just annoying. Obviously, one cannot argue with someone else who speaks another language.
Eventhough we speak english, for you 1+1 = 4 and for others its 2.

Here is a thing, this thread is not about trolling, but then religion is like trolling.

All I've been reading here is:
-God exists.
-Really? How?
-He created us and gave us free will.
-Cute, but that doesn't answer my question.
-*random Ghost's post, followed by a bunch of quotes from the Bible*
-I'm still waiting for my answer...
-Nonbelievers shall go to hell.
-What about the religious criminals?
-*yet another incomperhensible post from Ghost + a quote from the Bible*

etc.

So, what did we manage to learn?
Nothing.

@Elodin, if you really believe in God and you believe that the world was created a several thousand years ago, how do you explain the fact that scientist discovered fossils which are over a few million years old?
How do you explain evolution? Surely it makes more sense that the human being evolved to become better in every way than its ancestors, than the explaination that God created Adam and Eve and that the two managed to populate the whole world.

@Sal, that was a spot-on Anyhow, you should really drop by the VW more often. It needs more witty people

Nooby, Elodin does not believe in the "Young earth" idea. He also believes that evolution exists. Maybe not that everything evolved from a simple organism, but he does recognize that things have changed since the beginning of the world.

Ok people. I believe in Jesus now and accept him as my savior. Thanks to Elodin ML and Drakon, I have communicated with god.

He did answer. He said that every christian that holds arms will end in up hell and that Orthodox christians and every other christain denomination are heretics and will end up in hell aswell for Eternity.
Every other religious group followers will end up in hell aswell for breaking the first commandment.

He said that the only true religion of the world is Mormonism.
I feel sorry for you people. May God have mercy on your soul in hell and may eternity not last forever for you.

I take no pity on you all because you made a choice not to believe in Mormonism.

Wait, that's not quite the real Christianity then Well, this is interesting.
Btw, I'm saying that it's not the real Christianity because Christianity teaches about Adam being the first man and he was introduced on the sixth day of the world's creation as the Bible says, no? That proves that there was no evolution in the world and that every being you see today was made along with Adam.

You DO know that the word that is mistakenly translated as "Day" in genesis is actually supposed to be the Hebrew word for "Allotment of time," not an actual day right? In fact, the form it is presented in the bible means, "Undetermined allotment of time," so the Christians that proclaim that the earth and universe were created in seven days are actually doing so because of a translation error. Elodin not believing in the "Young earth" idea is actually more accurate to the original judao/ christian understanding than the seven days fantasy.

And yes, I am an atheist. I just pick these random factoids up because I'm exposed to them. ^_^ Oh! Also, Sampson only killed TEN men, not one hundred. Another mistranslation.

How could God create the world in literal 24 h days if in the beginning there was no sun to measure time by? Obviously the days are not meant to be taken literally.

@ Seraphim: Nice try, I'm not claiming my religion is the best or anything, but I've looked into Mormonism and Islam and found them to be as phony as a three-dollar bill.

Huh, that makes more sense, but it doesn't explain the insta-human spawning.
Btw, I have read the Bible only once and that was when I was a kid and believed in God. If I say something about it that isn't accurate, please have in mind that I can't recall how everything has been written.

@gnomes

Since I cant speak Hebrew I won't proclaim anything but a lot of those discovered "translation errors" seems like PR and a way to gently adapt the scriptures to our age. I mean think of it, The Genesis becomes a pretty weird text when you take out day and fill in undetermined allotment of time.

When you read the holy books (both Bible and Quran), Occham's Razor suggests that they are indeed filled with factual mistakes of the times they were written in and not some mistaken translation that contains timeless information. Which is only natural and would be nothing to be ashamed of if some people wouldn't hopelessly insist they are flawless and timeless.

Ok, another way to look at it. Supposing God exists and He gave Moses the information. Would God really need to go in detail about how the world came to be or would He want to give them the basic idea?
