Neophytes already passed all but the final tests to become a Space Marine. After they finish their time in the Scout-company, they become "full" Space Marines. Neophytes have undergone most surgical upgrades that are part of becoming a Space Marine. The fact that he already is as large as he is, depends on what surgical enhancement he has recieved. And as tradition of which surgery is supposed to happen when depends on the chapter we're talking about, it could well be the case.
The studs I know nothing of, only that it happens that some Space Marines have it and others don't. I'll look it up in the codex I have lying about here somewhere.
Edit: Nothing about service studs is mentioned in the recent codex, but Warhammer Wiki has this to say about it.

Well Horrace doesnt strike me as the kind of guy that would sit arround in the destroyed bankethall when there is still fighting to be done. The same goes for Alexander and I presume Anya (eventhough the patching up the wounded makes sense her being a Sister and all). Ill make a few edits tomorrow morning.

I was actually fearing the fact that you might get the Valkyrie downed, whereas I already said the Guardsmen flew home in the very same Valkyrie later. Something like that. Just like you used a holoprojector in your last update, whereas I had Horrace destroy that thing several posts earlier.
You go and digest that food now and try to keep your promise. And just for the record, and I am aware that you're not living a sitcom, but was there any fight over who got to chainsword the turkey? (You have to admit that those turkey-carvers look like mini-chainswords)

Good, because I have things you may want to change and/or explain.
1: It's a Leman Russ tank, not Lemun Russ.
2: How does the PDF come by Rhinos? Because only the Adeptus Astartes, Adeptus Arbites,, Adeptus Mechanicus, Inquisition and Adepta Sororitas get to use them.
3: How can there be vox-reports if Kiel is blocking it with his message?
4: Which Imperial Regiment are we talking about?

So due to an unfortunate accident I am stuck in Bonn for this weekend... real ****ing **** situation lol. I was looking forward to the weekend with my family while visiting a convention of the foreign ministry with my best friend. BUT NO! IT WAS NOT MENT TO BE. WHY FATE, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!
So instead I will be buying myself a new bed tomorrow (technically today lol) and well have plenty of time for an extravagant update! That is if I find something to work with. If not I might still whip something up. We will see.

I agree that we've not been given a lot to work with in the last update. If you can't think of anything, I'd be able to help think of things later tonight(in 8 hours or so). And if that don't work out neither, I say we kiss the party goodbye and move on.

I agree. The party is over.
I've given this quite a bit of thought and I am going to be closing this RPG. This game has been problematic since the beginning. I thought my problems with it would improve but sadly that was not the case. I was challenged on the plot of the game. I have been challenged on pointless thing. I have had my game hijacked and my authority as a DM usurped by players supplementing the game with what they believe is going on. It's hard to direct a game when my authority is hijacked and my decisions are constantly criticized.
It's my fault really. I should have put a stop to the behavior early on and did not. I let it slide and that became a problem. The game became a chore. Every update brought more challenges and nagging, which led to more infrequent updates. It had gotten to the point where I no longer enjoy the game and have no desire to see it run further.
To answer hanging questions:
Governor Sprat was a Space Marine. He was part of the Death Watch under Xenos Inquisitor Mondaigo. Mondaigo had kidnapped Sven Ol'Tan to get information regarding a Necron artifact stolen by the Ol'Tan. It was a part of the Celestial Orrey, which can cause stars to go supernova. The device in question was one of the Orrey's pieces, created during the events recorded in the Emperor's Mercy when a new star was created. Mondaigo was contacted by a Necron Pheron, who's name I never decided upon, who was in charge of the Orrey's safeguarding. He contacted and charged Mondaigo with finding the missing piece, giving him an ultimatum of finding it or the entire Ares sector would be annihilated.
Atticus Nines, the previous inquisitor, went rogue and attempted to form an alliance with the Ol'Tan clan but was double-crossed and ultimately murdered after helping them steal the Necron artifact.
If someone would like to create another WH40k RPG, by all means, do so. As to the Ares Incident, it is closed.

A real shame. I certainly enjoyed this, when it moved. But reading Omega's thoughts, I cannot help think that I was part of the problem.
I would enjoy a new 40k RPG, I will likely join it if the prospects are good. I may even create one myself, though my experience as leader is minimal at best. (I'm better at telling leaders when they are doing things wrong )

I would love to have kept this going, but reading how Omega felt about it, I started feeling a bit of shame for some of my post that might count as "nagging."
For the record I am all for a new Wh40k RPG, but I best not lead it. Any game I GM ends up dying.
