"did you say that 'catching them is good practice?' You've caught an imperial assassin?"

Mac got a bit stumped before saying "Err...well. That depends on how you look at it..." Mac begun "I've never really caught a imperial assassin like being able to clearly "catch" him and bring him to other people saying "THIS IS AN IMPERIAL ASSASSIN!". But I've once before traveled with an inquisitor, an Ordo Malleus, who had an assassin amongst her crew. Took me a good while to figure it out back then, hell took me weeks before I even suspected it. But after I had begun suspecting it, I started to "hunt" him for practice. Gathering clues, trying to pin-point who or where he is. At the end of our travel through the warp I had found one person who I suspected was the assassin, but lacking hard-evidence I dared not approach the inquisitor and say "That's your assassin!"" Mac emptied his cup "Then we got out of warp and the inquisitor gathered all of us who were going to be his team. He then formally introduced all of us to one another while summarizing why we were picked. As it turned out, the guy I had suspected acutally was the Assassin. A Venenum Assassin who called himself "Kalmar". So, as you can hear from my story I did not really 'catch' the assassin, but my hunch had turned out to be correct so-" Mac shrugged "-I'm still pretty proud of myself. And those assassin guys really live up to their name, as it was by my own estimate the longest and toughest case I've ever worked on. Since then I've always been on the look out for signs that there might be an assassin on the team when dealing with inquisitors, but this is the first time ever since I've actually found some. As I said, it is very good training."

So then, even on the first mission where Mac had his suspicions, he had only been lucky. The man seemed unnaturally lucky. I'll have to do my best to curb that luck it I'm to remain unnoticed... And how better to do that than by...

"Do you think I could help you look for this guy?" 'Nial' asked Mac excitedly, "between your experience and my knowledge of what goes on around here, I'm sure we could pin this assassin down."

Mac raised an eyebrow "Now that's a first." Mac said with a small hint of it being a joke in his voice "Most people tend to snow their pants when one starts talking about catching assassins. But hey! Why not. Most cases are solved by information you get from other people anyway." Mac shrugged and laughed lowly to himself((Nial can hear it, and if those by the other table are quiet and listening then they too might be hearing it)) before putting out his hand for a handsake "Will be fun working with you Mr. Nial. If you ever hear or find anything, just say the word."

Meanwhile, Dorian was looking at Anya. She had some sort of charm into her looks. nothing close to a beauty queen, yet attractive. During his previous servitudes in the Ordo Hereticus, Dorian had the honor to fight alongside the Sororitas and saw the zealous ferocity of those "heatless b!tches" as Dorian had the tendency to call both the Sororitas and the female inquisitors.
Dorian accepted the glass of wine that the butler-servitor had offered him. he putted down the data slate. It contained some poetry tomes. Dorian was't a huge fan of written art, but however the device served it's purpose to briefly entertain him.

Kiel took the hand with a smile, "Pleasure working for you sir. If this works, I claim bragging rights," He joked. 'Nial' finished the last of his pie and stood up. "Well, best be back to work. See you around, sir."

And now, none will know until I want them to. Perfect.

Horrace Eggidio was sitting in his cabin, going over the shipping reports on a data-slate. On the warp-journey to Ares, he had shared this cabin with Commissar Boraman, but he was now planetside reorganising the PDF. So far everything had gone very smooth and if Horrace were a suspicious man, he would have said everything had gone too smooth. There had hardly been any protest when Martial Law had been declared over Ares Prime and the few lunar mining colonies. The strict curfew had caused next to no complaints, save for a few gubernatorial cronies who felt that it infringed their rights. Nothing that a stern yelling from an Imperial Officer could not fix.
While busying himself with the shipping from the Unrelenting to the planet, Horrace had learned several things about the six different regiments that were here to keep Ares under Imperial Rule.
The Death Korps of Krieg 23rd Siege Regiment was almost half artillery. And had acces to many Basilisks, several Colossus Siege Mortars and Manticore Rocket Launchers and an entire platoon that consisted of Mortar Support Teams. The regiment also had a few Death Riders Squads, which was rather unusual. Almost as unusual was the fact that Col. Von Hoffen was referred to by his name instead of his number.
The 39th Brimlock Dragoons was an Armoured Infantry Regiment. All Guardsmen were either part of an Chimera mounted Armoured fist or they were Sentinel Pilots.
The Cadian 477th had an almost overabundance of Heavy Weapons Teams, going so far that every Infantry Squad had two of their number lug a Heavy Weapon with them. Most of those Heavy Weapons were Heavy Bolters or Autocanons, but a few carried Missile Launchers.
The Cadian 64th had acces to good number of tanks. Mostly standard Leman Russ Battle Tanks, as Horrace had once comanded himself. But there were a handfull of Leman Russ Punishers and Eradicators.
The 41th Terrax Guard featured an unusualy high number of Storm Troopers and several Orgyn Squads.
The least remarkable of the six regiments was the Cadian 127th. They had a little bit of everything and functioned mostly as a jack-of-all-trades regiment. The only thing that was somewhat remarkable was that they were issued Bane Wolves instead of the more common Hell Hounds.
Horrace felt his eyes become heavy. There was nothing realy worth his attention on the data-slate and while important, this work was boring. And, assuming that nothing went awry in the Warp, the Inquisitor would be another week before he and his party arrived.
There was a knock at his door.
"Enter" Horrace called.
A Kriegan Guardsman entered his cabin. He, or she as you could never tell with Death Korpsmen due to their gasmasks and long coats, saluted and stood at attention.
"What is it?" Horrace asked while returning the salute.
"Rear-Admiral De Witt has requested your presence on the bridge, sir."
"Very well," Horrace said as he got up, he picked his cap off a hook near the door and went to the bridge.
Halfway down the corridor, he remembered the quirk that Kriegans needed direct orders for absolutely everything and that the Guardsman was likely still standing at attention in his cabin. He paced back to his cabin, recalling the occurrance during the warptravel that one of the squads he saw did not start eating before the sergeant gave them leave to eat. Horrace popped his head across the door and indeed the Guardsman was still standing there, stiff backed.
"Dismissed, Guardsman."
"Thank you, sir." the Guardsman replied while giving Horrace a salute, before marching off. Horrace hurried himself to the bridge, thanking The Emperor that Kriegans were so utterly oblivious to anything but fighting and it likely would not have come to the mind of the Guardsman to look through the Commissar's items.

"Commissar-Captain Eggidio!" A crewman announced as Horrace entered the Bridge.
Even in orbit of a planet, the bridge was a hive of activity. Crewmen scurried about, observed monitors and manned consoles. Servitors, most of them Lexomats here, quietly did whatever it was they were programmed for.
Rear-Admiral De Witt was sitting in the Command Throne. He was a lanky man with graying, receding hair and an absolutely enormous moustache. And despite the slightly bored look in his eyes and his awkward way of sitting in the slightly too small throne, he looked in complete command.
"Ah, Commissar-Captain. Good that you've been able to come so soon." The Rear-Admiral said, after exchanging the usual salutes and formalities. "Overall Command, that is me, Lord Krieglust and General Bronn, thank you for your work and your enthusiasm. However we feel we are wasting your talents by using you as shipping overseer, despite you volunteering for that. I have plenty of juniors on this ship for such mundane duties. So you are hereby releaved of this duty."
Horrace was on the one hand relieved that he needen't do the boring shipping work anymore, but on the other hand he was slightly apprehensive at his new task.
Rear-Admiral De Witt snapped his fingers and the Commodore standing next to the throne handed him a sealed scroll container, which he then handed to Horrace. The seal was that of the Inquisition.
"This scroll is for you, however, Krieglust has recieved the orders not to give them to you before we were in orbit of Ares. He's been busy, so the duty now comes to me. You are hereby given the orders not to open that container and read that scroll untill the good Inquisitor has arived in the system."
Horrace put the container in a pocket of his greatcoat. "Understood, sir."
De Witt shifted in the throne. "Carefull with that equipment!" He shouted to a crewman entering the bridge. He turned to Horrace again. "I am pleased to give you your issued Refractor Field early. The required forms will be delivered to your quarters within the hour. After you pick it up, you will report to the dropship, designated on the forms and go to Ares Prime. There you will be dropped of in the capitol city's Gubernatorial Spire. General Bronn and Colonel Sherman will be waiting for you with more instructions."
"Thank you, sir." Horrace replied. "With your leave?"
"Sure, sure. Do us and the Emperor proud, Commissar." De Witt said waving his hand. Horrace left the bridge.

The Lancea Domini, Orbiting Ares Prime
377.695.M41

The inquisitor's ship shot out from the warp like a bat out of Hell.  The interior noise of the ship dropped inperceptably as its Gellar field was turned off.  Undaunted crewmen continued adjusted and calibrating at their stations, commencing scans and raising steal fields.  To all but the most sophisticated technologies, the ship would remain invisible.  It would need to; the ship lacked sufficient firepower to pose a threat in a dogfight.

The Unrelenting's image sat dead center in the main pictscreen.  It was an impressive site and would cause all but the most battle-hardened to think twice about launching an attack against it.  An encrypted hail was sent from the inquisitorial vessel alerting the warship of Inquisitor Deza's presense.  Within a few minutes, General Bron was brought before the gaze of Inquisitor Deza.

"Inquisitor Deza,"  General Bron was deliberate and to the point, if not tactless, in his greeting.  "My name is General Charles Bron.  I am force commander of the Imperial Guard forces in the Areas sector.  I was informed of the Inquisition's interest in the Ol'tan gang and should you need any assistance from my men, just ask.  The situation here is tense.  There have been numerous, small rebellions throughout the sector.  Regiments have been deployed to reinforce the PDF and squash any unrest, but it persists.  I have read several reports speculating as to the cause of the unrest.  Some reports point to possible cult activity of undetermined origin.  So far, there have not been any major incidents between my forces and the rebels.  I would like to hope it stays that way. "

The general paused momentarily to take a sip of recaff.  "Contact has been made with the planetary governor, Alexander Sprat.  Seems to be another glorified tool of the noble and incompetent.  He barks, but not loudly."  Another sip.  "As to the Ol'tan, despite having a hand in virtually every facet of life in the Ares Sector, they are very hard to locate.  Since making contact with Ares Prime, all efforts to speak with them have been hindered.  They have either mysteriously vanished or are conveniently out of the sector."

"I would advi-" the general stopped as an aide handed him a dataslate.  He dismissed the aide and scowled.  "Typical. Rebellion is threatening the sector, people are dying, and the governor wants to throw a party.  This may be a good lead inquisitor.  I'm sure Sprat has some friends who, unlike the governor, probably know something."

He drained the recaff and continued "As is custom in these situations, a liason will be made available to you if you need.  I will be busy coordinating the forces and you will be better served by someone less distratcted.  Of course, if you need to reach me, you know how.  Good luck in whatever you are looking for, Inquisitor.  Bron out."

The screen went blank, leaving a few bread crumbs in its wake.

Alexander liked Bron and his no-nonsense attitude already, too many times had he met Guard officials that were desperate to please him or his master before him only with hopes to further their carrers. It almost always had the opposite effect. No a real leader wouldn't want others snooping arround in their terrority and even more so when his men were in action. He would work well with Bron and if he proved to be too stubborn Alexander was still an Inquisitor...

While there might be no trace for the Ol'Tan Alexander was convinced that they were on the planet. They are an old and powerful family these clans have an nearly unrivaled sense of pride...no they were on Ares somewhere and Alexander would find them. And what better place to pick up information than at the Governers parties. These occasions always proved to be suprisingly informative again and again which helped him endure the tidium of the Imperial aristocracy.
From his desk he opened a vox link to his entire team.
"My friends as you have probably noticed by now we have arrived in the Ares system and not a moment too soon it seems as the world is unstable to say the least which means we have no time to lose. Thankfully his excellency governor Sprat has decided to throw a party tonight at which we will all be present. I will be... well I haven't decided what I will be yet but Dorian you will be designated driver, I need you to stay sharp and load our transportation with as much arms as you feel are apropriate should things get too hot at the party. Not that we exspect them to but it never hurts to be prepared. Be ready for whenever I call you. Mac everything that is of any importance on this planet will be at that party. I want you to listen to everyone and watch everybody. Get into the complex unseen and make sure you can tap into the survailance system. If anything suspicious is happening anywhere on the complex you notify me immediatly and regroup with Dorian if neccesary, if you manage to overhear anything you consider useful let me know at once. Don't get caught. You will not want to compromise us...
Karl you will be my personal assistant or scribe, whatever I chose to be a willing sycophant or secretary is never out of place on these parties. I want you to stay close to me and monitor the people at the room as good as you can. If anyone is overly anxious, scared, stressed, arrogant or suspicious in any other way I want you to tell me.
Kiel do what you do best. Be invisible, help Mac covering the grounds outside the villa. Anya and I will stay close to the windows so that if things get out of hand we can count on your expert skills. If there is movement outside or you notice anything out of place contact Mac to investigate further. Contact me if something is amiss." He didn't need to add that failure was not an option for Kiel for all his arrogance and loftyness was a Vindicare of exceptional skill. Failure didn't exsist for their kind.
"And last but not least Anya... now if you would be so kind as to join me in my suite your role might be a bit out of your comfortzone".
He cut the link, he didn't need to hear their replies he could count on them making their preparations with all haste and effectiveness.
Now the only problem that remained was how he was ever going to convince Valina pious student to get into this dress...

Kiel blinked as the last of the orders were given. Tch, nothing that requires true effort. Though this did give him the chance to scare the living stars out of Mac. When roles had been called, Kiel hadn't gone up to reveal who he was, the crew only knew that there was a Vindicare assassin named Kiel aboard, not who it was. That must have ruffled the Inquisitor's feathers a little bit... though it might complicate things in the future if that attitude continued. He had gone to try some damage control by meeting with their leader unnoticed later that night, smoothed over the damage done a bit and also explained why it was best that not everyone knew who he was yet. Alex must have given him these orders to spite him.

Help the man? Now he did have the choice to not reveal himself to Mac, but it would be difficult to help the investigator if he didn't. Besides, the look on Mac's face would be priceless.

Kiel walked over to his "Bedroom" and disappeared into the shadowed cubby that he had hidden his equipment in, minus the rifle and the pistol. Those were in the ceiling panel above the engine reactor, just one hall down. His armor was on within the end of a minute. In the next three, he had his weapons ready and thirty basic shots for both equipped or loaded. All four knives were also hidden along his body. With his things in order, Kiel sought out Mac, moving unseen through the ship.

When he found Mac, the assassin whispered from behind the man, "It's Nial, I found out who the Assassin is." This would be good.

- Will do boss.- Dorian said- The only thing I can't promise is a smooth ride. I'm a bit rusty behind the wheel. I'll go and get the gear ready.- He then noticed that the communication link was terminated.
- Aw, snap. Well, I hope the inquisitor won't complain about my driving. tried to warn him.- he said with a sarcastic smile..

With that said, Dorian wrote down a small list, picked a few crewmen and went towards the armory of the vessel.
- Now... which of you do I pick?- He said to himself while looking at the arsenal of weapons in front of him
- Something light... good to use in drive bys...- He mumbled under his nose.- Perfect!- He took several lascarbines and handed them to a crewman.
- light'n'fast weaponry, check. Now something to create a bloody mess... here we go...- Dorian took a few grenade launchers and checked off the "bloody mess" in his list.
- Now for something more heavy... We'll take two of those- He pointed to the boltguns- and few of those- He pointed at the flamers. I got my melta, and Mac probably'll carry his, but let's take an extra one just in case. Allright, carrie those tho out transport, and make sure they're ready to use! you, you take as much ammo as possible. Grenades also count! Inquisitor Deza wants us to be prepared for anything, and I'll make sure we are! Now get to work!- He said. Dorian right now was real proud of himself. Ordering around was a fun activity for him.

Horrace Eggidio was sitting in the armory of the Unrelenting. He was waiting while one of the ship's Techpriests affixed his new Refractor Field unto his chestplate. Save that chestplate, he was already suited in his full combatgear. Most of it was covered by the larger of his two Greatcoats, however his Power Sword, Bolt Pistol and Hotshot Laspistol were secured in their respective sheaths on the outside of his coat.
Horrace was going of a dataslate when a navy-trooper burst into the chamber. Panting, he gave Horrace a salute.
"Thank the Emperor, <pant><pant> you're still here Commissar."
"What is it?" Horrace asked slightly annoyed.
"New orders from <pant><pant> General Bronn, sir. Your assigned Aquila <pant><pant> Lander will take you to the Lancea Domini. It exited the Warp just after you left the Bridge, sir."
Horrace cosidered the timing and the fact that the ship exited the Warp a week too soon. But then again, time flowed differently in the Warp and theoretically everything was possible with warptravel.
"Your new orders, sir." The trooper said, his breath just about caught, as he offered Horrace another data slate.
The orders corresponded with what the trooper told him.
"Very well." Horrace said as he stood up. He had seen the Techpriest was done with his chestplate. "Before you are dismissed though," Horrace said as he noted something on the dataslate he was reading earlier, "you are to give this to your immediate superior when you leave. Dismissed." Horrace gave the trooper the data slate. He noted the descrepancy in the physical condition of the trooper and advised the officer, whoever it was, to strictly adhere to standard exercise routines and suggested to arrange extra.
The Techpriest was kind enough to help Horrace into his chestplate while he explained how to turn the refractor field on and off and which litanies to recite.

Within half an hour Horrace reported to the pilot of the Aquila Lander and within ten minutes more, he was on his way to the Lancea Domini.

Don't get caught. You will not want to compromise us..."

Mac nodded to himself as his orders came over the com. "I know that already." He mumbled to himself as he got up his equipment box. The first thing Mac did was to change into his carapace armour, doning a trenchcoat over it to hide most of it. Secondly, he strapped his bolt pistol to his belt under the coat. After that he put all his other equipment into a backpack; Meltagun, demolition charges, hacking equipment, Auspex, carapace helmet, etc.
Taking the backpack onto his back, Mac took a look in the mirror "Now let's just hope for rain and I will not look suspicious in the least out in the street." Mac smiled to himself. "Such shame that I was unable to find conlusive evidence on the assassin. All I got is two suspects: Borl and Nial. And neither really upset my stomach." Mac sighed and looked at his calender "I was suppose to have another week damn it!"
"Not that there was much hope you could reveal the assassin in just one week. It was not like you had that much to go on. Nial's enthusiasm might have been genuine. He might just be weird in that he finds it exciting in hunting for assassins. Or he might be the assassin and just wanted to lure you." Mac looked down on his stomach "Have nothing to say on the matter, hmm?"
"And the fact that Borl got so angry when you told him you're hunting for assassins might just be that he is scared of them, like everybody else. Or he might be the assassin and got afraid that you were on to him." Mac shrugged "Well, no sense crying over spilt milk." Mac was about to leave his room when he remembered something "Ohh yeah, my chainsword!" he exclaimed and turned around to his dear melee weapon that was lying on the table. Picking it up Mac took a second to admire the weapon, which he had gotten back when he was promoted to midshipman. He activated the weapon and slashed the air a few times with it.
"It's Nial, I found out who the Assassin is."
Startled, Mac turned quickly while slashing the chainsword, and barely stopped himself before he would have decapitated Nial, or so Mac presumed.
As Mac lowere his sword the realization that Nial was standing there in full armour hit Mac.() "I hate you gut." he thought as he confirmed to himself that Nial was the assassin.
Mac now inspected Nial from top to toe before finally saying "Nice outfit. Mr. Kiel I presume." Mac did not bother to stretch his hand out, these assassin types were asocial by nature. "Ohh well, I had you as one of my prime suspects. If I had had more time, like that one week I was suppose to have, I might have gotten my gut on my side as well."
Mac deactivated his chainsword and strapped it to his belt inside his coat "Well, thanks for proving that my tactic of "find suspects by telling them about your assassin hunt" works, only you and another guy named Borl gave me interesting enough reactions for me to start suspecting you." Mac smiled "Two assassins met, two assassins suspected, although I would still consider that two defeats."

As Alexander looked himself in the mirror he didn't see a stern and ruthless Inquisitor but the very rich and very successful Adrian Gret who had just made a very lucrative weapons supply deal with the Governor people would take to him, if Alexander couldn't make sure of  it he had no doubt Anya would.
One of his Servoskulls silently hovered next to him from his desk informing him that Horrace Eggidio was about to  arrive on his ship. When he had read the file of the liaison General Bron had assigned him he didn't know whether to be pleased or concerned. The man seemed like a very straight arrow with precious little in the way of flexibility but he had an outstanding field record... during his time with the Inquisition he had run into a few Commissars, it was hard not to since they were practically anywhere and every hardline Emperorbotherer he had met had become the tragic victim of a friendly fire incident in the heat of battle. Considering Horrace Eggidio had made it this far the man was either preternaturally lucky or very charismatic. Or something entirely different but that was what these meetings were good for. If this man was to be part of his entourage e would have to get the measure of him first. With no time to change he would just have to greet him in his party outfit , while no problem for Alexander he wasn't so sure whether a man so obsessed with protocol would like it. Aaah this would fun....

"Octavian please be in the shuttle bay at Horrace Eggidio arrival and see to his ship."

Dorian was keeping himself busy by checking up the weapons that which he decided to arm his teammates. he had no doubt that the Inquisitor's crewmen had cleaned the weapons spotlessly, however, he decided to do it one more time, just to be sure that when needed, they work without problems. He putted down the last lascarbine. these along with grenade launchers were one for every member of the team. the bolters were for teh inquisitor and Anya, and he took along the flamers and the meltas just for the sole purpose of demoralising the enemy. there was also avast number of frag and krak grenades.
Dorian called a crewmember.
- Go and tell the boss that the guns are packed and ready to use at any time.

With that covered, Dorian went back to his room to take his gear.

The flight to the Inquisitor's ship had not been the most comfortable ever. The passenger compartement of the Aquila Lander, while designed to ferry officers and VIPS, it was not designed to carry people in full carpace armour and carrying multiple weapons.
The flight was eventless and the pilot more than capable. The fact that he entered the flightdeck of the ship askew was to be blamed on the fact that the ship was still cloaked.
As the lander touched the deck, it was greeted by a crewman and a Techpriest. The priest mumbled a greeting before turning his full attention to the Lander. The crewman greeted Horrace and asked to follow him. Horrace was slightly taken aback by the fact that he was not greeted with a salute, but immediately remembered that these men were not of the Imperial Guard or Navy. Horrace gave the pilot of the Lander the strict instruction to wait for him or his orders and to provide full cooperation to the Techpriest.
Horrace followed the crewman, whilst being informed that the Inquisitor Alexander Deza would see him in his cabin before going planetside himself. Before entering the cabin, the crewman asked if Horrace would like something to drink. He ordered a strong recaf.

As Horrace entered the cabin of the Inquisitor, he found him dressed like a noble in front of a decorated mirror.
"Well met, Inquisitor!" Horrace said, giving a crisp and examplary salute. "I am Commissar-Captain Horrace Eggidio, I have been selected to be your liaison to the Departmento Munitorum Forces for this mission. I appologise for appearing before you in full combat gear. When your ship left the Warp, I expected to be ferried planetside." Horrace noticed his left hand was resting on the pommel of his powersword while his right was behind his straightened back. A position so afixed in his being, he took it without thinking.
"How can I be of your service?"

Alexander gave him a parade ground worthy salute back smiling at himself that that still hadn't left him even after all those years after leaving Cadia. "Well met Commissar, Bron has only spoken highly of you" not that the man seemed like flattery was his thing but it never hurt to make someone feel appreciated.
"I apologize for my attire, but you must without a doubt have experienced these parties yourself more than a couple of times and it has been my experience that walking in there brandishing my imperial rosetta and powersword rarely gets me where I need to go. Some of my colleagues prefer to let whoever they're hunting know aeons beforehand that they're coming for them...I like to do things differently"
He absentmindedly waved his hand at one of his chairs offering the Commissar to sit, the chair could support his weight but he didn't expect the Commissar to accept the offer either way. "As General Bron might have told you I have a special interest in the Ol'Tan family for a multitude of reasons, unfortunately I can not share many of them with you since some are just suspicion and for some there is too little evidence. So for now Commissar Eggidio I would like you to keep your eyes and ears open for anything concerning the Ol'Tan. And as I was trying to say before I do not want to alarm the Ol'Tan prematurely, so please I ask you to be discrete in your dealings for me unless the situation calls for directness. I trust your judgement.
With being an Inquisitor come a few perks and as such I was able to scour the entire Imperial Guard database amongst other things and the search yielded precious little results on the Ol'Tan. Would you happen to know any other source of information, perhaps someone on the party? "

Anya had spent several hours studying the dataslate with Deza's instructions.  She had an interesting time trying to find an outfit suitable for her role, yet capable of hiding a vertible arsenal of hidden weapons without limiting her movements.  She eventually settled on a burnished golden and very revealing gown, backless and heavily slashed from shoulder blade to shoulder blade, revealing too much cleavage for Anya's liking but designed to catch the eye for certain reasons.  Looking at herself in the mirror, Anya briefly wondered what the hell she was doing.  Anya couldn't actually remember a time when she had worn anything apart from Sororitas uniform and robes.  She was so out of her comfort zone, yet was shocked at the sense of excitment this mission was giving her.  She also allowed herself a few moments to marvel at the beauty of the gown, its material, its embellishments ... it must have cost a small fortune.

She strapped an autopistol on her right thigh and one above her right ankle and a laspistol on her left thigh.  Hidden within both sleeves she had rigged one of her favorite pieces .. a slim steel retractible wrist blade, capable of reaching two feet beyond her wrist.

Anya spent a anxious hour trying to do something with her hair and make up (not being used to doing either) but was eventually pleased with the result, piling up and allowing to fall in large curls along her back.

"Well now's the time to see what the Inquisitor thinks", she thought.  And standing up, feeling rather uncomfortable at the thought of being checked over and also hoping he liked what he saw, she made her way to Deza's office.

Horrace noticed how the inquisitor offered him a chair. However Horrace politely refused, he had been sitting to much today and the chair did not seem to be meant to accomodate anyone wearing full carapace armour.
"Ah, yes. The Governour's Party. I have to admit that I had not prepared to attend the occasion. As I was saying, I was expecting to recieve a new assignment today and having no leave or invitation."
The crewman from earlier entered and handed Horrace a decorated mug of recaf. Horrace took a slight sip, still to hot for his tastes, but strong enough for his liking.
"And whereas it would not be beneath either our positions to invite ourselves, I have doubts the presence of an Imperial Commissar would make the attendants more loose of the lip. Quite the contrary, in fact. No doubt aware, as we both are, of the good hearing and extremly low tollerance of gossip and rumormongering that men of the Commissariat are wont to posses."
Horrace took another sip, still too hot.
"As far as information on the Ol'tan goes, I doubt I have much to contribute at this stage. I have read only the files available to the Departmento Munitorum, deemed admissible to someone of my rank. You know, no doubt, more of this case at this moment than I do. And having spent most of my time untill your arrival overseeing the deployment of the materiel from aboard the Unrelenting, I've had precious little time to concern myself with other matters.
As far as I am aware, this party is to be an empty gesture. An attempt of Governour Spratt to assure his cronies and the higher-ups of Ares that he still posseses a modicum of power under the Martial Law and to prove that to some people the curfew imposed by the Martial Council does not apply."
Horrace took another sip, getting better.
"Of course I am in no way implying that it is without merrit for yourself to go to this party. However I must inform you that Lord Commissar Krieglust did not agree with General Bronn to allow this party. And  on his command  at some point in time it may be interupted, or the guests may detained at the location of the party. Surmising that you will attend this party under pretence."
There was a knock at the door, Horrace though he noticed it being ever so slightly hesitant.
"Enter!" Horrace barked. Immediately realising what boundries he had overstepped. "My appologies, force of habit."

Alexander gave the Commissar a curious look wondering if the man was testing out how far he could go with him or whether it had been an honest mistake. Eitherway he was pleased to see that whoever was waiting outside was still not entering.
"Come in." Alexander said more softly but with no less authority than the Commissar.
As the door opend it took Alexander a moment to realize who was standing in front of him. She had already looked good in powerarmor but with the bulk of it gone... Anya looked breathtaking. Emperors-mercy the fires of damnation would be considered a pleasant winter retreat next to her. Even the ever so stoic Commissar Horrace seemed impressed. Alexander gathered his wits quickly enough to prevent the pause from becoming an akward silence he hoped.
"Anya, how nice of you to join us. You couldn't have done a better job, you look beautiful. I hope you like the dress.
Now if I may introduce you to Commissar-Captain Horrace Eggidio, he has been assigned as my liason with the Imperial Forces in the system" she gave him a crisp salute which looked slightly akward in her current attire but had a pleasant effect on her figure.
"Commissar if I may introduce you to Celestine Superior Anya de Varagine of the Order of our Martyred Lady she is the Canonesses personal protegé."
Alexander wandered back to his desk while they exchanged greetings and picked up a dataslate.
"Very well Commissar if General Bronn allowed the party I wouldn't consider it wise for Kriegslust to overrule him. Eitherway I don't care too much I'm sure he'll have his reasons. As long as you make sure that Kriegslust doesn't lock it down before I've had some time to do some investigating I'll be content. Give me an hour." It was an order not a suggestion.
"Here take this, it contains the vox frequencies of my team and myself along with the apropriate encryption keys. This is obviously only for you to know. I'm afraid the introduction of the rest of my team will have to wait for now as Adrian Gret has a party to attend and being late won't do. Especially if Kriegslust does decide to cut the party short. You can return to your duties in the field, I hope I didn't hold you up for too long. If something is up I'll make sure to contact you I expect the same from you." He handed him the dataslate and smiled at Anya and offered her his arm.
"Shall we?"
